  • Patent number: 6795856
Abstract: Employee Internet usage is monitored to identify the web sites employees visit and the amount of time employees spend at each site. The system utilizes a client-based module which monitors Internet access, which operates in conjunction with an enforcement supervisor located on a remote web server. A client-based monitoring module performs all of the monitoring and logging activity. The previous web page title, location (URL) and time spent are stored by the client component in memory on the client computer. The web page title and URL are obtained from system notifications from the browser to the client component. The client computer uploads the log containing the web page information to a web-based supervising module.

  • Patent number: 6769315
Abstract: A weight measurement method and apparatus for measuring and monitoring the weight load on a vehicle such as a tractor trailer rig. A load pin and bearing assembly mechanically couples the weight of a trailer and its payload to the leaf springs of a tractor trailer truck. The shackle pin is intersected by a longitudinal bore in which multiple strain gage sensors are mounted. A miniature signal processing unit is totally enclosed and shielded within the longitudinal bore and is electrically connected to the strain gage sensors. The signal processing unit develops weight signals that are communicated by conventional low voltage signal cabling to a load display unit in the tractor cab. An offset lubricant passage provides a means for lubricating the load pin bearings while preventing contact of the lubricant with the strain gages, internal wiring and signal conditioner components housed within the main longitudinal bore.

  • Patent number: 6713095
Abstract: A product and process for stabilizing Aloe vera gel is disclosed. The process includes the steps of rapidly heating the Aloe vera gel to a temperature in the range of from about 35° C. to about 80° C., adding to the heated Aloe vera gel one or more stabilizing antioxidants, and rapidly cooling the heated Aloe vera gel to a temperature in the range of from about 20° C. to about 30° C. The stabilizing antioxidants may be a tocotrienol/tocopherol blend, rosmarinic acid, polyphenols, or any combination thereof.

  • Patent number: 6591797
Abstract: A variable ratio rocker arm is provided for use in combination with the valve stem and push rod of an internal combustion engine. The rocker arm has a toothed rack. A fulcrum rod is provided with a toothed sector. A stationary support member has a rod seat. The fulcrum rod toothed sector engages the toothed rack of the rocker arm and the rod seat of the stationary support shaft. An operating arm is coupled to the fulcrum rod for simultaneously rotating and translating the fulcrum rod along the toothed rack of the rocker arm and the rod seat of the stationary support shaft. The operating arm causes the fulcrum rod to rotate and translate along the mating toothing from one point of pivotal engagement, corresponding to a first engine operating condition, to another point of pivotal engagement, corresponding to a second engine operating condition.

  • Patent number: 6522629
Abstract: Broadband integrated services are performed via digital, channelized or optically coded networks by a system which organizes, interfaces, provisions, loads and controls, in real time, the transport of grouped or organized information (such as packetized cell data) through interface access devices and packet switches that are compliant with domestic and international communication standards. A packet core network includes multiple packet switches and interface access devices coupled to an existing narrowband or broadband network. A signaling manager, a provisioning manager and a traffic manager perform all broadband and narrowband routing, port provisioning and connecting functions for all network devices. A set of software interface modules for each equipment vendor allows the provisioning manager, the signaling manager and the traffic manager to impose control demands and make network management decisions on a real time basis via an application protocol interface.

  • Patent number: 6309125
Abstract: A mascara applicator includes a brush attached to a wand which is preformed with a predetermined bend angle which presents the brush in an offset orientation that makes it easier and more convenient to apply mascara to eyelashes. In a first embodiment, the wand is a narrow gauge wire or tube of a shape memory alloy which is characterized by pseudo-elasticity, and the wire or tube is deformed by a predetermined longitudinal bend angle in its relaxed memory recovery state. In an alternative embodiment, the wand includes link segments of a narrow gauge rod or tube of relatively stiff plastic material. At least two of the segments are joined together by a living hinge section which permits the wand to flex preferentially at the living hinge in response to a bending force. The living hinge is also characterized by flex memory recovery in which it automatically assumes a predetermined bend angle in the absence of a bending force.

  • Patent number: 6297312
Abstract: A one-pack, low VOC, waterborne adhesion coating composition and method of making and using the same. The composition includes a coalescing agent, a halogenated resin, a modified anionic polyurethane dispersion blend, and a wetting and dispersing agent. It is suitable for coating a variety of substrates including polyolefinic substrates, in particular thermoplastic olefin resins, polypropylene, and operates without the addition of an adhesion promoter step at a low curing temperature.
