  • Patent number: 4566275
Abstract: An hydraulic booster has a boost piston which works in a bore and is subjected to boost pressure in a boost chamber to actuate a master cylinder assembly, and a control valve assembly controls pressurization of the boost chamber in response to an input load applied to a pedal-operated input member. The input member works in a bore in the boost piston and in operation, a reaction load from the master cylinder is fed back through the booster to the input member through a reducer mechanism to provide a reaction at the pedal which is not affected by the boost pressure, and the reducer mechanism is received within a recess in the boost piston, which is defined between two relatively movable parts of the boost piston.

  • Patent number: 4562998
Abstract: A spring leaf of composite fibre reinforced synthetic resin material has an attachment member secured at an end thereof by means of a clamping band which fits about the end of the spring leaf and an extension portion of the attachment member to clamp them together. In one form the attachment member is an eye-end with opposed flanges which lie on the spring leaf and each of which is clamped to the leaf by a clamping band secured by a pin. In an assembly having two superimposed spring leaves one clamping band has a depending portion in which the end of the lower leaf is slidingly located. In another form the attachment member is an eye with a tang having an enlarged end which is received into a complementary recess in the end of the spring leaf and retained therein by the clamping band.

  • Patent number: 4557110
Abstract: In a master cylinder assembly separate master cylinders are connected by a common transfer passage through which the pressure spaces of the master cylinders in advance of pistons are in communication when the master cylinders are operated simultaneously, and communication between the pressure spaces is cut off by a transfer valve mechanism when one of the master cylinders is operated on its own. Each piston is guided to slide in its respective bore only by the sliding engagement with the bore of a guide portion of the piston and the guide portion is disposed on the outermost side of a transfer port with which the transfer passage is in communication when the piston is in a retracted position.

  • Patent number: 4549389
Abstract: A method of hermetically sealing a predetermined quantity of alcohol into a chamber provided at the bottom of a stackable disposable container of plastics material by securing a lid or cover having the thickness of foil to a ledge defined at the transition of the chamber with the remainder of the container. The method involves filling the container in such manner that the ledge is not wetted by the alcohol and than securing, by a combination of the effect of heat and pressure acting on the material of the cover and that of the ledge, the lid or cover to the ledge. Conveniently, a peripheral skirt is provided around the periphery of the lid or cover which is not adhered to the container.

  • Patent number: 4543976
Abstract: A control valve assembly incorporates a piston and a flow control valve which are both biassed in the same direction against pressure in an hydraulic accumulator by first and second respective springs. Accumulator pressure in a control chamber also acts to urge the flow control valve in the same direction as it is biassed by the second spring and pressure from a pump acts to bias the flow control valve in the opposite direction. A pilot dump valve controlling communication between the chamber and an outlet connection is normally biassed into a closed position by a third spring. The dump valve is adapted to open at a cut-out pressure to dump pressure from the chamber, and the cut-out pressure is determined by the area of the seating of the dump valve over which the pressure in the chamber acts, and the force in the third spring. A cut-in pressure at which the dump valve closes is determined by the area of the piston and the force in the first spring.
