  • Patent number: 4139082
Abstract: In a spot-type disc brake the pads are insertable in a substantially peripheral direction through openings in an end of the brake. In service the openings are blocked by a closure member which has to block the two openings two limbs each extending through the openings to engage the pads. The member is pivotal about an axis parallel to the rotational axis of the brake's disc and disposed outside the disc's periphery. The brake's caliper is made in two halves bolted together and has blind journals receiving trunnions integral with the member. The drag force tends to act along the limbs so that the drag force is taken substantially entirely by the trunnions.

  • Patent number: 4135874
Abstract: Disclosed is a furnace whose NOx emission may be reduced to a minimum degree so far unattainable in any prior art furnaces by optimumly controlling the ratio of exhaust gas mixed with the combustion air to be supplied to the burners to the exhaust gas to be mixed with the two-stage combustion air which is admitted through air nozzles into the combustion chamber and also by optimumly controlling the distribution of the two-stage combustion air in the combustion chamber depending upon the operating conditions. The present invention may be applied to any types of furnaces.

  • Patent number: 4134477
Abstract: A sliding caliper disc brake comprising a torque member which is adapted to be fixedly mounted adjacent a brake disc and which has portions lying on both sides of the brake disc which are connected by bridging portions positioned radially outwardly of the periphery of the disc. Directly and indirectly operated friction pad assemblies are located on opposite sides of the disc and each include a friction pad carried by a respective pad backing plate. A caliper member is mounted on the torque member. The caliper member is guided for sliding movement relative to the torque member in a direction perpendicular to the disc, the caliper member and both the friction pad assemblies being supported by the torque member so that drag forces experienced by the pads during use of the brake are transmitted directly to the torque member.

  • Patent number: 4134406
Abstract: In a resectoscope of the type having inflow and outflow conduits and in which suction is applied to the outflow conduit, a damaged cutting loop must be replaced by blind insertion of the new loop through the annular passage between the tube which surrounds and holds the telescope and the tube which forms the inner boundary of the outflow conduit, and into the opening of a passage through the fixed block of working element. Such insertion is facilitated by the present invention by the addition to the stem of the loop of a member of arcuate cross section having its axis parallel to the stem of the loop, which is positioned adjacent the proximal end of the stem and which engages and at least partially surrounds the tube which surrounds the telescope and which positions and guides the stem of the loop as it is inserted.

  • Patent number: 4130390
Abstract: Extensive improvements in the production capability of the existing installations of the type comprising a rotary kiln and a suspension preheater unit are disclosed; that is, another suspension preheater unit provided with a calciner at its lowermost heat transfer stage and a distributor to direct a part of the preheated raw materials from the existing preheater to the calciner are installed, and all the raw materials supplied to two preheater units are uniformly and highly calcined ahead of the kiln in the preheaters by control of the distributor as well as the fuel rate to the calciner, thereby the production capacity of the kiln is doubled. Furthermore the accumulation of raw materials on the bottom of the calciner can be substantially eliminated and the specific power consumption of the installations may be reduced.

  • Patent number: 4124920
Abstract: Apparatus and method for vibrating edible crab meat from the core portion of a crab body that has been de-shelled, de-legged and de-fingered and the central core portion of which has been cleaned. The crab body is supported in a core box with the body cavity directed downwardly opposite a discharge opening formed in the bottom of the core box, whereupon the core box is vibrated at about 1500 to 5000 vibrations per minute to shake the crab meat from the core and to deposit the meat particles on an endless conveyor that travels therebeneath. Preferably the core box bottom contains a plurality of pockets having walls converging toward the discharge openings, the crab cores being held in place by suitable cushion means.
