  • Patent number: 8224466
Abstract: A controller for dynamic redefinition of a short stack initialization to provide a low cost generic controller. The controller may be built with a network variable interface which has its variables initially selected by the time of the completion of the build. Thus, if different network variables are desired, then the controller needs to be placed with the builder or special technician for implementing the changes. The present invention modifies that controller so as to provide a capability of changing the network variables without the need of the builder or anyone else to modify the network variables in the controller's interface. The network variables may now be changed by an operator or customer, even while that controller is in operation.

  • Patent number: 8080032
Abstract: A device and method for obliterating or occluding a body cavity or passageway, in particular, the left atrial appendage of a patient's heart. The procedure can be carried out intraoperatively, but is preferably carried out percutaneously by use of a delivery catheter to position an occluding device adjacent a patient's left atrial appendage. The occluding device may prevent the passage of embolic or other material to or from the left atrial appendage by volumetrically filling the appendage, closing the opening of the appendage with an occluding member, or pulling the tissue around the opening of the appendage together and fixing it in a closed state.

  • Patent number: 8066508
Abstract: A signal generation system for flame ignition and sensing. The ignition signal generation is adaptive for improving flame ignition while eliminating excess energy usage. High voltage signals for flame sensing may also be provided. If more energy or speed is needed for ignition signal generation, then the flame sensing signal generation portion may be disabled to increase the amount of available energy. Adaptation for ignition signal generation may be guided by the results of flame sensing. The flame sensing voltage may be regulated based on the flame current strength. The flame current may be controlled within an optimum range to reduce rod contamination rate and yet provide reliable flame sensing when the rod contamination built up. The adaptation may be algorithmic-based with the facilitation of a microcontroller. The system may provide the high voltage signals from a low voltage power supply, such as that of 24 VAC.

  • Patent number: 8059344
Abstract: An optical lens system that focuses both a first band of wavelengths and a second band of wavelengths onto a common focal plane. In some cases, the lens system includes a first region for focusing a first band of wavelengths onto a focal plane, and a second region for focusing a second band of wavelengths onto the same focal plane. Depending on the wavelengths and materials involved, the first region may or may not focus the second band of wavelengths onto the focal plane, and in some cases, may or may not even transmit the second band of wavelengths to the focal plane. Likewise, the second region may or may not focus the first band of wavelengths onto the focal plane, and in some cases, may or may not even transmit the first band of wavelengths onto the focal plane, but this is not required. In some embodiments, an additional lens may be provided between the lens system and the common focal plane to help focus the first band of wavelengths and the second band of wavelengths onto the common focal plane.

  • Patent number: 8033180
Abstract: A flow sensor apparatus that utilizes a pressure sensor with media isolated electrical connections. A cap can be attached to topside of the pressure sensor over a diaphragm to protect bond pads and wire bonds from a fluid media. A flow channel can be etched on the cap with an opening and exit on the sides of the cap so that liquid can flow through the flow channel. An inlet port and an outlet port can be attached to the channel's opening and exit to allow for fluid flow over the diaphragm. The flow channel creates a larger pressure over portions of the diaphragm that increases the deflection of the diaphragm, which increases an output signal of the pressure sensor. V-grooves can be created on two sides of the pressure sensor and in the cap to create the channel for the fluid in and out of the cap's cavity.

  • Patent number: 7911617
Abstract: A system for scattered light and simultaneous multi-color (e.g., greater than sixteen colors) fluorescence light detecting, and for analyzing, classifying and identifying biological particles and items of interest. A sample to be tested may be entered in a disposable microfluidic cartridge which in turn is insertable in a portable, hand-holdable, or wearable miniaturized cytometer instrument. The present system may be incorporated in the cytometer instrument. It may have significant application relative to biological warfare, environmental substances, the medical field and other fields.
