  • Patent number: 5578992
Abstract: A personal safety alarm device, including a main housing, and a light source maintained within the housing. An audio alarm speaker is located on an outside surface of the housing, along with a pair of high voltage electrodes located on the top surface of the main housing. In addition, the device features a timekeeping device including a DC powered oscillator, memory unit, and associated display device therewith. There is a high voltage generating circuit within the housing which is coupled to the electrodes. Finally, an alarm triggering circuit has an alarm switch which, when activated, causes both the light source to flash intermittently and the audio alarm speaker to sound intermittently. The high voltage generating circuit produces, at the pair of high voltage electrodes, a voltage capable of delivering a stunning electric shock to an assailant.

  • Patent number: 5533136
Abstract: An attenuating circuit for attenuating commercial interruptions in an audio signal, the audio signal including at least a first channel audio signal and a second channel audio signal; the attenuating circuit including a first audio channel detection circuit and a second audio channel detection circuit, each of the audio channel detection circuits including a low pass filter mechanism for receiving the audio signal and for passing only low frequency components of the audio signal, with the low frequency components being beneath a determined frequency; a low frequency comparator circuit for generating a low frequency detection signal whenever the amplitude of the low frequency components exceed a first threshold value; a high pass filter mechanism for receiving the audio signal and for passing only high frequency components of the audio signal, the high frequency components being above the determined frequency; and a high frequency comparator circuit for generating a high frequency detection signal whenever the

  • Patent number: 5481143
Abstract: A self-starting, brushless direct current motor including a rotor assembly, a stator assembly, the stator assembly including a circular ring member and a plurality of electromagnets positioned circumferentially around the circular ring member, and a triggering mechanism for energizing and deenergizing each of the electromagnets in a predetermined sequence to produce a rotary motion of the rotor assembly.

  • Patent number: 5475883
Abstract: A wave generating device for waterbeds, including an undulation mechanism for producing a first wave motion on a mattress of a waterbed, with the first wave motion including a repetitive, upward force which is orthogonal to a bottom surface of the mattress. A vibration mechanism produces a second wave motion on the mattress of the waterbed, with the second wave motion including repetitive, lateral forces in substantially the same plane as the bottom surface of the mattress. There is a control mechanism for adjustably controlling the speed of both the undulation and, vibration mechanisms, along with a housing mechanism for containing them. Finally, there is a securing mechanism for attaching the housing mechanism to an underside surface of a mattress supporting platform in the waterbed, and wiring for electrically connecting the control mechanism to the housing mechanism.
