  • Patent number: 8346921
Abstract: Techniques are described for managing program execution capacity or other capacity of computing-related hardware resources used to execute software programs, such as for a group of computing nodes that is in use executing one or more programs for a user. Dynamic modifications to the program execution capacity of the group may include adding or removing computing nodes, such as in response to automated determinations that previously specified triggers are currently satisfied, and may be automatically governed at particular times based on automatically generated predictions of program execution capacity that will be used at those times by the group, such as to verify that requested dynamic execution capacity modifications at a time are within the predicted execution capacity values for that time. In some situations, the techniques are used in conjunction with a fee-based program execution service that executes multiple programs on behalf of multiple users of the service.

  • Patent number: 8342025
Abstract: An integrated MEMS structure includes a driving assembly anchored to a substrate and actuated with a driving movement. A pair of sensing masses suspended above the substrate and coupled to the driving assembly via elastic elements is fixed in the driving movement and performs a movement along a first direction of detection, in response to an external stress. A coupling assembly couples the pair of sensing masses mechanically to couple the vibration modes. The coupling assembly is formed by a rigid element, which connects the sensing masses and has a point of constraint in an intermediate position between the sensing masses, and elastic coupling elements for coupling the rigid element to the sensing masses to present a first stiffness to a movement in phase-opposition and a second stiffness, greater than the first, to a movement in phase, of the sensing masses along the direction of detection.

  • Patent number: 8340329
Abstract: A purpose of the invention is to provide a piezoelectric speaker that can serve as an antenna and can be used for frequencies in the MHz band, thereby it is possible to suppress enlarging of the size due to use of the piezoelectric speaker also as the antenna to a minimum level. The antenna (4) is provided on a frame (2a) that is a peripheral edge portion of the diaphragm (2). With this configuration, enlarging of the size can be suppressed to a minimum level while using the piezoelectric speaker also as the antenna, and it is possible to achieve space saving in a miniature electronic apparatus such as a mobile phone or the like when the piezoelectric speaker is adopted to the miniature electronic apparatus. In addition, the antenna (4) is a loop antenna formed in a loop shape. With this configuration, the piezoelectric speaker can be used for frequencies in the MHz band, which is used in, for example, a noncontact IC card technology.
