Abstract: A servo motor in die tapping unit provides built in shock protection for the motor by fixing a shock plate to the servo motor and floatingly mounting the shock plate to a base structure attachable to a stripper plate in a press. Sets of opposing springs allow movement of the shock plate relative the base plate to relieve shock loads when the press is operated, the shock plate guided on dowel pins fixed to the base structure. The shock plate, and tapping unit and base structure form a self contained assembly for mounting together in the press.

The compressor of the present invention makes use of two separate compressors mounted on a single common motor, thus sharing a single drive. Abstract: A servo motor driven tapping unit for in die installation has a tap holder pitch adapter assembly mounted for removal while the unit is in the die to facilitate tap and pitch adapter replacement. In one embodiment, the tap holder pitch adapter assembly extends transversely to the servo motor axis, and is offset in another embodiment.

Abstract: An object sorting apparatus and method using chutes for transporting objects to selected locations. The chutes include one or more openings through which a fluid may be forced to reduce friction between the objects and the chute. Diverters are operatively aligned with the chutes for directing the objects to selected chutes. A momentum mechanism imparts forward motion to the objects to move them along the chutes along the chutes.

A cooling system of the invention comprises a first support having a carrier; an evaporation coil mounted to the first support; a second support having a carrier; a compressor mounted to the second support, the compressor coupled to the evaporation coil; and a substantially sealed enclosure positioned over the evaporation coil and such that the compressor is positioned without the chamber.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for controlling a three-phased permanent magnet electric motor terminal voltages in relation to both changes in speed and torque of the permanent magnet electric motor, whereby phase currents are first rotated from a stationary frame to two decoupled current components in a rotor synchronous frame, which enable to derive a voltage along a quadrature axis and a voltage along a direct axis thereof, before rotating back the quadrature and direct axis voltages from the rotor synchronous frame to the stationary frame to yield the permanent magnet electric motor terminal voltages.

Abstract: A tool mounting and method for adjustably mounting a tool holder on a cam slide of a press mounted cam also including an adapter body and driver. The tool mounting includes a tooling plate adjustably secured to the cam slide by a series of dowel pins closely fit in dowel pin openings in the cam slide and loosely fit in dowel pin holes in the tooling plate to allow vertical and horizontal adjustment. A channel extends to each oversized dowel pin opening to enable injection of a setting material to lock the tooling plate in its adjusted position after being aligned with a die opening using a pilot installed in a tool holder mounted on one side of the tooling plate. An alignment plate is installed over the other side to cover the channel to each oversized dowel pin hole and allow removal and replacement of the tooling plate without disturbing the adjusted position on the tooling plates.

Abstract: A power control system (12) for an electric motor having at least one magnetic bearing includes a DC/DC converter (18) supplied from a DC link bus (179) connected to a main power supply (14), the bus (17) supplying power for the electric motor and for a bearing actuator the converter (18) provides low voltage DC power supplies for a motor controller (23), a bearing controller (24) and a supervisory controller (26), the later monitoring the main power supply and communicating with the motor controller (23) and bearing controller (24) so as to cause the motor to operate as a generator in the event of a failure of the main power supply (14) to thereby supply power to the DC link bus (17) to maintain operation of the magnetic bearing. Circuit switching components are connected to the motor winding and selectively switched in a manner causing current generated in the motor winding to flow in one direction into the DC link bus (17) only while the winding voltage is greater than that of the DC link bus (17).

A spark gap or similar device is attached to the plasma discharge devices to activate them to produce a traveling electric discharge. The discharge creates a traveling short circuit in the conductive coil thereby compressing the magnetic field. The result is the production of an electromagnetic pulse.
