Abstract: A mounting structure for mounting a device to an electric motor having an output shaft has a body including an opening for receiving the output shaft through the body. A plurality of connector elements are supported by the body. The mounting structure includes a plurality of threaded inserts. Each of these inserts is inserted in one of the connector elements for receiving a fastener to connect the body to the motor. Each connector element is sized and shaped for alternatively receiving an insert in at least two, non-coincident locations. The mounting structure can be combined with an electric motor to produce an electric motor assembly that can be mounted on a pump or other device so the device is powered by the motor.

Abstract: A switch for an electric motor has a switch arm comprising a lever and an arc barrier formed integrally with the lever. The switch has first and second electrical contacts. The switch arm and second electrical contact are moveable relative to the first contact between an open position and a closed position. The arc barrier is positioned adjacent the first contact in the closed position. The arc barrier limits the risk of electrical arcing associated with the electrical contacts. The switch is suitable for use in an electric induction motor. For example, the switch can be adapted to de-energize auxiliary start windings when an electric induction motor is up to speed and/or to provide a signal indicating the motor is operating.

Abstract: Providing synchronization notifications to a client device. In response to a server receiving notification that an event of interest has been received, a state of the client device is determined. The state indicates whether or not the client device has any outstanding sync notifications. In an embodiment, the state is determined based on a trackingGUID and a syncGUID. When the state of the client device indicates that the client device has no outstanding sync notifications prior to the receipt the received notification, the trackingGUID is set equal to the syncGUID, which is updated after each successful device synchronization of the client device. A timeout is set equal to a current time plus a predetermined value and the sync notification is sent to the client device. In an alternative embodiment, the sync notification is formatted according to a type of the client device.
Abstract: This invention is directed to catalysts for dehydrogenating primary alcohols. Catalysts comprising a metal support comprising (a) from about 2% to about 30% by weight copper, and (b) at least about 50% by weight non-copper metal selected from the group consisting of nickel, zinc, tin, cobalt, iron and combinations thereof; and a copper-containing coating are described.

Abstract: A process for treating a gas stream comprising hydrogen sulphide, the process comprising the steps of: (i) mixing a first gas stream comprising hydrogen sulphide with a second stream comprising sulphur dioxide to produce a combined stream, whereby elemental sulphur is produced by a reaction between the hydrogen sulphide and the sulphur dioxide; (ii) removing elemental sulphur, and optionally water, from the combined stream; and (iii) oxidizing at least some of the elemental sulphur to form sulphur dioxide for use in the second stream, wherein, the reaction is conducted at a temperature of from 15 to 155° C. and a pressure of at least 3 MPa.

Abstract: The “instant evolution” system was initially developed in E. coli, primarily because of the ease with which this organism can be genetically manipulated. Because many of the functionally important regions of rRNA are conserved among bacteria, drug leads developed against conserved targets in the E. coli system may produce broad-spectrum anti-infectives. However, in order the develop a system to product narrow-spectrum anti-infectives, herein we disclose method and compositions for screening Pseudomonas aeruginosa 16S rRNA in E. coli cells. In certain embodiments, a plasmid comprising the 16S rRNA gene from Pseudomonas aeruginosa t mutated to replace the natural helix 9 region with the corresponding region of the E. coli rRNA, is shown to form functional ribosomes in E. coli host cells. Li other embodiments, a plasmid, comprising the unmutated 16S rRNA from Pseudomonas aeruginosa, along with a plasmid containing the Pseudomonas aeruginosa S20 protein, can yield functional ribosomes in E. coli cells.
Abstract: Interoperability of protected content items between computing devices is facilitated by providing content items having a standard representation, and media players having support for the content item representations. The representation of the content item may be limited by a profile as to the elements it contains. The elements allowed in the content item may also be limited.
Abstract: Creating and executing a distributed stream processing operator graph based on a query. The operator graph includes movable stream algebra operators for processing events received from high volume data streams. The operators are partially compiled and distributed to computing devices for completion of the compilation and subsequent execution. During execution, the operators maintain minimal state information associated with received events via an expiration time assigned to each of the event instances. Additional events are generated and aggregated by the operators for communication to a service responsible for the query.

Abstract: Anchoring systems for use in cavity wall structures having an inner wythe constructed of interengaged composite panels and a veneer outer wythe are disclosed. The wall anchor is disposed within the juncture of the interengaged composite panels and fastened to the frame. The wall anchor maintains a strong interlock with the composite panels and backup wall, maintains insulation integrity and limits thermal transfer, without obstructing the juncture of the composite panels. The anchoring system interlocks with varied veneer ties, allowing vertical and horizontal adjustment for alignment with the bed joints. The anchoring system for composite panels provides an economical, high strength, low weight, insulated backup wall construction for interengagement with a veneer outer wythe.
Abstract: The present invention provides methods and compositions for the treatment of ion imbalances. In particular, the invention provides compositions comprising potassium binding polymers and pharmaceutical compositions thereof. Methods of use of the polymeric and pharmaceutical compositions for therapeutic and/or prophylactic benefits are disclosed herein. Examples of these methods include the treatment of hyperkalemia, such as hyperkalemia caused by renal failure and/or the use of hyperkalemia causing drugs.
Abstract: A scaffold for implantation into a mammal to facilitate vessel growth in repair, regeneration, and/or proliferation of bodily tissue, where the scaffold is based on a borate, silicate, or phosphate, glass-former and is biodegradable upon implantation in mammals. The scaffold includes one or more trace elements from the group consisting of Cu, F, Fe, Mn, Mo, Ni, Sr, and Zn which are released into the host to support vessel growth. A method involves implantation of such scaffolds.
