    Abstract: A poultry container comprises a frame assembly defining an interior space, and at least one loading door having one end pivotally mounted on the frame assembly of the poultry container. The frame assembly has an opening accessing the interior space to enable the loading of poultry into the poultry container. The door is mounted on the frame assembly to situate the door in the access opening. The loading door is operable to pivot between an open position in which a free end of the door is positioned in the interior space and a closed position in which the door substantially blocks the access opening of the poultry container. The poultry container further includes a mechanism for biasing the loading door in the closed position. A mechanism restricts the free end of the loading door from swinging outwardly away from the poultry container.

    Abstract: A simple yet inexpensive device is presented which is used to divide the water normally supplied to the spill tube and gooseneck reservoir of a commode. Dividing the water supplied to the spill tube and diverting a substantial portion of that water to a holding tank of a commode saves water that is normally unnecessarily fed directly down the drain in the refilling process. The device is a small plastic insert that has a generally rectangular main body. At one end of this main body is a horizontal inlet tube. At the bottom of the main body are a number of lower vertical outlet tubes. In order to evenly disperse the inlet water among the vertical outlet tubes, the upper mouth of the vertical outlet tubes is constricted by narrowing the diameter of the mouth with respect to the inner diameter of the inlet tube. Water is thus distributed evenly among the lower outlet tubes.

    Abstract: An improved process for the reversed phase chromatographic decolorization, separation, and purification of water-soluble, nonionic contrast media compounds from solutions containing nonionic compound impurities involves the steps of (a) packing a chromatographic column with a chromatographic packing material; (b) passing through the column a solution containing a water-soluble, nonionic contrast media compound and nonionic compounds as impurities at a loading ratio between approximately 10 to 1 and 1.5 to 1 wt. packing material/total wt. nonionic compounds; and (c) eluting the column to produce an eluate containing substantially pure, water-soluble, nonionic contrast media compound or MRI agent. The process can be economically practiced on a factory scale and efficiently removes non-polar impurities difficult to remove by conventional methods.

    Abstract: A process for applying an adherent electrically insulative moisture-resistant composite coating to a substrate. A thin, adherent, highly cross-linked, substantially liquid moisture-impervious primer coating is provided on the substrate by glow discharge polymerization of a low molecular weight hydrocarbon monomer in a low pressure chamber containing the substrate, the monomer being selected from among methane, ethane, propane, ethylene, and propylene. A second polymeric coating layer is provided over the primer coating by glow discharge polymerization of a second precursor comprising a hydrocarbon or substituted hydrocarbon. The precursor exhibits a hydrogen yield of not greater than about 0.75 hydrogen atoms per molecule under the glow discharge polymerization conditions under which the second layer is deposited, whereby the second polymeric coating layer is substantially resilient and strongly bonded to the primer coating and the second layer comprises a high concentration of surface and bulk free radicals.

    Abstract: A kind of automatic rotary weighing and packing machine having a plurality of weighers radially or annularly arranged on a circular rotary table for automatically effecting such processes as filling of product, weighing and judgement at respective positions around the table, which is especially suitable in the case where the product to be packed is sticky granular or powdered bulk material and the packing container is a bag or the like. This machine uses no weigh hopper or bucket in which sticky product is liable to remain to cause weight error, and the packing container is held by a holding mechanism attached to each weigher and directly filled with product, which is then weighed and sealed. A fixed amount feeding device is used for feeding product into the container and its throughput is controlled based upon the result of a subsequent weighment for keeping the weight of product packed in each container always at a predetermined value.
