Abstract: Provided are magnesium hydroxide particles having a hexagonal crystal form and having an aspect ratio (H) which satisfies the following expression (I), 0.45·A·B<H<1.1·A·B??(I) (wherein H is an aspect ratio, A is an average secondary particle diameter (?m) of all of the particles measured by a laser diffraction scattering method and B is a specific surface area (m2/g) of all of the particles measured by a BET method), a flame-retardant comprising the particles, a flame-retardant resin composition comprising 100 parts by weight of a synthetic resin and a 5 to 300 parts by weight of the magnesium hydroxide particles, and a molded article therefrom. The magnesium hydroxide particles are hexagonal single crystals, the hexagonal form thereof are not necessarily required to be regular hexagonal, and the size thereof are not necessarily constant.

An ink jet recording medium comprising the dye fixing agent for water-color ink formed on a substrate. The dye fixing agent for water-color ink of the present invention is excellent in the fixability of water-color ink, the resolution of an image recorded on a medium, water resistance and light resistance.
Abstract: The present invention is based, in part, on the discovery that a modified version of Peptide G (Asn Gly Gln Glu Glu Lys Ala Gly Val Val Ser Thr Gly Leu Ile—SEQ ID NO:2) obtained by replacing Asn with Asp to form Peptide G? (Asp Gly Gln Glu Glu Lys Ala Gly Val Val Ser Thr Gly Leu Ile—SEQ ID NO: 1) overcomes the long range stabilization problem of the peptide conjugates and, quite surprisingly, also enhances the immune response, particularly the CD4 related (cell mediated) response, of conjugated peptides (L.E.A.P.S. constructs) as previously described.
Abstract: A solution for washing away residue, comprising an aqueous solution of a water-soluble high molecular compound in which is dissolved at least one kind of dissolving agent selected from an amine and a fluoride. Phosphorus containing compound (B) is the reaction product of organic phosphorus compounds (b) having one active hydrogen atom bonded to a phosphorus atom and a quinone compound, wherein the molar ratio of (b) to quinone is from 1.25:1 to 2:1. This molar excess of (b) yields a phosphorus containing compound (B) that comprises both the reaction product of (b) and quinone, as well as un-reacted (b).

Abstract: Disclosed is a method of producing a powdery coating material by using a curable acrylic resin (A) having a number average molecular weight of from 2,000 to 20,000 and a glass transition temperature of from 30 to 90° C. obtained by polymerizing a starting monomer containing from 15 to 50 mol % of an unsaturated compound which contains at least a glycidyl group and/or a methylglycidyl group, and from 20 to 50 mol % of methyl methacrylate; a curing agent (B) capable of being reacted with the glycidyl group or the methylglycidyl group constituting the curable acrylic resin (A); and an alcohol solvent (C) having a boiling point under normal pressure of from 70 to 120° C.; said method comprising a kneading step of so kneading the curable acrylic resin (A), the curing agent (B) and the alcohol solvent (C) that at least the curing agent (B) is dissolved in the alcohol solvent (C) at a temperature of not higher than 130°C.

Abstract: A process for producing thermo-expansive microcapsules wherein a polymerizing mixture containing ethylenic unsaturated monomer and a blowing agent is suspend-polymerized to microencapsulate the blowing agent with the resultant polymer. The above-mentioned suspension-polymerization is performed with the presence of at least one compound selected from the group consisting of polypeptides and derivatives thereof as a suspension stabilizer. The process can control the particle size of microcapsules easily, attain stable reaction system and produce thermo-expansive microcapsules that disperse well in medium such as paint or inks.
Abstract: This invention relates to a breakthrough method for pre-sensitizing cancer prior to a therapeutic treatment such as chemotherapy, radiation therapy or immuno-therapy and a novel cytokine mixture used in the method thereof. The cytokine mixture is a serum-free and mitogen-free mixture comprised of specific ratios of cytokines such as IL-1?, TNF-?, IFN-? and GM-CSF to Interleukin 2 (IL-2), which is effective in inducing cancerous cells to enter a proliferative cell cycle phase thereby increasing their vulnerability to chemotherapy, radiation therapy and immuno-therapy. One such novel cytokine mixture is Multikine®, which can be used alone or in combination with other drugs for the treatment of cancer thereby increasing the success of cancer treatment and the disease free survival of cancer patients.
