  • Patent number: 8136250
Abstract: To minimize the risk for injuries due to hooked hair catching teeth, but still have a reasonable hair-cutting efficiency, a cutting unit (107) for a hair-cutting device (100) having two blades (202, 206) moving relatively to each other with at least one of the blades (202, 206) being toothed is proposed, wherein at least some teeth (208) have a larger cross-sectional area (CA) at their free end (210) than at their end (212) making the junction with the blade (206), wherein the larger cross-sectional area (CA) is 0.3 mm2 or more and wherein the shape of the larger cross-sectional area (CA) is such that the tooth (208) surface oriented to face the surface (305) with hair (301) to be cut when cutting has a larger distance to the middle axis (M) than the equivalent surface of the blade-side-end (212).

  • Patent number: 8127662
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for preparing a beverage, for instance baby milk, from an instant product, such as formula, and water, which has been sterilized and cooled down to a temperature suitable for consumption. The apparatus comprises a water supply system for supplying water, a heating system for sterilizing the water, a cooling system for cooling down the sterilized water and a bypass, which allows sterilized water from the heating system to bypass the cooling system. Thanks to such configuration, hot water from the bypass can be added to cool water from the cooling system so as to bring the temperature of the cool water to a desired consumption temperature.

  • Patent number: 8122814
Abstract: A beverage maker (1) comprises a water tank (20) for containing and supplying water during a beverage making process, and a pump (40) for pumping the water out of the water tank (20). In order to terminate a pumping action at a predetermined point, the beverage maker (1) comprises a switch (64) which is arranged in a pumping circuit (41) for energizing the pump (40), a float (70) which is located in the water tank (20), and a coupling arm (71) attached to the float (70). During a pumping action, when a water level (21) in the water tank (20) is above a predetermined minimum level, the coupling arm (71) couples the float (70) to the switch (64), and the switch (64) is held in a closed position. However, as soon as the water level (21) reaches the minimum level, the coupling of the float (70) to the switch (64) is lost, and the switch (64) switches back to an opened position, as a result of which the pumping action is terminated.

  • Patent number: 8113107
Abstract: A system for preparing a beverage comprises a beverage maker (15) and a cartridge (10) that is removably arranged in the beverage maker (15). The cartridge (10) comprises a beverage making unit (1) having a duct system (30) for conveying flows of steam and flows of liquid. The duct system (30) comprises two combinations of ducts (31, 32; 41, 42), wherein the arrangement of the ducts (31, 32; 41, 42) of each combination is adapted to enabling a flow of steam to perform a pumping action on a flow of liquid. The beverage maker (15) comprises a steam generator (16) having two steam sockets (17, 18), wherein each of the steam sockets (17, 18) is in communication with another combination of ducts (31, 32; 41, 42) of the duct system (30). As each of the combinations of ducts (31, 32; 41, 42) is associated with a different steam inlet (36, 46), and the steam inlets (36, 46) may be located at different positions on the cartridge (10), it is achieved that the duct system (30) may be of a relatively simple design.

  • Patent number: 8113106
Abstract: A device for making tea, which device comprises a brewing chamber (2) for enclosing a tea-pad, means for supplying heated water through one or more openings in the upper wall of the brewing chamber, and a restricted opening (8) in the lower wall (1) of the brewing chamber (2), so that tea is squirted into a liquid collection chamber (10) underneath the brewing chamber (2). The lower wall (11) of the liquid collection chamber (10) is provided with a substantial circular ridge (14) around the location where the tea hits the lower wall (11) of the liquid collection chamber (10).

  • Patent number: 8095242
Abstract: A beverage maker for making a hot beverage includes a boiler for heating a quantity of water, and a pump. When the beverage maker is operated, a heating element of the boiler is activated, and the water inside the boiler is heated. When the temperature of the water has reached a predetermined value, a thermostat which is arranged in an electronics circuit for energizing the pump is closed, and a pumping action is started. As a result, water exits the boiler, and passes a thermostat which is arranged downstream of the boiler, and which is arranged in an electronics circuit for energizing the heating element. Under the influence of the hot water, a set point of this thermostat is reached, and this thermostat opens, so that the electronics circuit for energizing the heating element is interrupted, and the heating element is deactivated.
