  • Patent number: 7475052
Abstract: A malfunction condition judgment apparatus (MCJA) that judges malfunction condition (MC) of an observed object based on a change of observed values. The MCJA acquires time series data for values of each of a plurality of variables; calculates, with respect to each of the variables, a statistic defining a probability density function of that variable at T1, based on the value of that variable at T1 and that statistic at a point of time prior to T1; calculates dissimilarity showing an extent of variation between the statistic calculated for each variable and a statistic of a criterial probability density function predetermined corresponding to that variable; and picks, out of the plurality of variables, a variable for which the calculated dissimilarity is larger than a predetermined reference value, as the variable by which MC of the observation object is detected.

  • Patent number: 7464078
Abstract: A by-line extraction method detects a set of potential headlines from a title meta-tag of a crawled document, selects a candidate headline from the set of potential headlines, and extracts the by-line information from the document using the location of the selected candidate headline. The method constructs the set of potential headlines based on the title meta-tag. The method selects a candidate headline by evaluating the set of potential headlines in order of the lengths of the potential headlines. The method extracts the by-line information from the document by using the location of the selected candidate headline to extract a string representing a date, a name, or a source located within a minimum distance from the location of the potential headline.

  • Patent number: 7460332
Abstract: An integral recording head, for use in a linear tape drive system, includes a circumferentially grooved roller guide assembly and a recording head actuator assembly. The circumferential groove feature is incorporated on the surfaces of the roller guide assembly, and provides a substantial frictional contact force that acts to reduce the lateral motion, and further attenuates high frequency lateral disturbances of the magnetic tape. The reduced high frequency content of the lateral disturbances significantly improves the ability of the actuator to achieve a desired track following control. The grooved roller guide assembly is formed integrally of two solid cylindrical contact surfaces separated by a circumferential slot that accommodates the recording head actuator assembly.

  • Patent number: 7383496
Abstract: An information processing apparatus for classifying documents. The apparatus begins with an input document, and detects related documents. Next, the apparatus converts the document components into element identifying information that indicates the type or role of the document component. In the next stage, an internal document sequence converting section converts each set of repetitive element identifying information into element identifying information indicating the sequence of the element identifying information. Next, an inter-document sequence converting section identifies sets of element identifying information that appear in both a target document and a related document. An inter-document sequence converting section detects the identified sets of element identifying information which appear repeatedly in the target document. Then, a sequence converting identifies information into element identifying information, indicating the sequence of the elements, and structures the target document.
