  • Patent number: 7151993
Abstract: A cruise control system is configured to cancel/prohibit cruise control depending on the operating state of the wipers. When the wipers are in a continuous operation mode and low speed following cruise control is in progress, execution of the low speed following cruise control is continued. When the wipers are in a continuous operation mode and high speed following cruise control is in progress, execution of the high speed following cruise control is continued if the vehicle speed is in the vehicle speed overlap region or if a preceding vehicle is detected (i.e., even if the vehicle speed is not in the vehicle speed overlap region). When the wipers are in a continuous operation mode and high speed following cruise control is in progress, the high speed following cruise control is canceled if the vehicle speed exceeds the vehicle speed overlap region and a preceding vehicle is not detected.

  • Patent number: 7104154
Abstract: A bicycle shift control device comprises a fixed member and a rotatable member. The fixed member is adapted to be fixedly coupled to a bicycle handlebar adjacent a hand gripping area of the handlebar. The rotatable member is rotatably coupled to the fixed member for rotation around the handlebar between at least two shift positions. One of the fixed and rotatable members has a visible fixed contoured line and the other of the fixed and rotatable members has a visible movable contoured line adjacent the visible fixed contoured line. The visible fixed and movable contoured lines cooperate with each other to define a geometrically shaped visible area located between them. The geometrically shaped visible area is configured to change upon rotation of the rotatable member between the shift positions to indicate at least one of the shift positions.

  • Patent number: 7104249
Abstract: A control apparatus is configured to achieve considerably delayed ignition timing and combustion stability, and to bring about an increase in exhaust gas temperature and a reduction in HC discharge when the engine is cold. Normal stratified combustion operation and homogeneous combustion operation are carried out when warming has been completed and the coolant temperature of the internal combustion engine has exceeded 80° C. In an injection operation at the top dead center, the injection start timing ITS occurs prior to compression top dead center (TDC) and the injection end timing ITE occurs after compression top dead center (TDC), whereby fuel injection is carried out so as to straddle the compression top dead center. The ignition timing ADV occurs after compression top dead center (TDC) and ignition occurs with a timing that is delayed from the injection start timing ITS.

  • Patent number: 7099764
Abstract: A braking control device performs a steering and/or avoidance possibility determination based on the state of the vehicle to execute automatic vehicle braking when an obstacle in front of the vehicle cannot be avoided by steering and/or braking. The device determines that the obstacle can be avoided by steering when the correlation value between steering avoidance time and relative velocity is smaller than the distance from the vehicle to the obstacle. The steering avoidance time is set to a shorter value when the suspension characteristic is stiffer and the sideways force generated by the front wheels is larger. The steering avoidance time is set successively shorter for low, high, and medium speed travel regions, respectively, to reflect the behavior response characteristic of the vehicle with respect to steering input. The vehicle deceleration that would occur if the driver released the accelerator pedal is considered in the braking avoidance possibility determination.

  • Patent number: 7090160
Abstract: A sound generating mechanism of a dual bearing reel generates sound by the rotation of a spool, and includes a serrated member, an operation member, a sounding member, a first urging member, and a second urging member. The serrated member includes projections and rotates with the spool. The operation member can come into contact and be separated from the serrated member. The sounding member is pivotably movable in accordance with movement of the operation member between a sound generation position and a release position. The first urging member urges the sounding member toward the rotational center of the serrated member when the sounding member is in the sound generation position. While the sounding member is in the sound generation position, the second urging member applies a greater urging force to the sounding member when the spool rotates in the line-releasing direction than when the spool rotates in the line-winding direction.

  • Patent number: 7088168
Abstract: This invention is about the direct conversion receiver. It is excellent the receiving sensitivity that DC off-set, matching characteristics of the relationship of I/Q circuits and noise characteristics are improved. In order to achieve this purpose, the direct conversion receiver uses vertical bipolar junction transistor available in standard triple-well CMOS technology in the switching element of mixer and base-band analog circuits. Furthermore, as using the passive mixer in the other practical example of this invention, this invention controls the occurrence of l/f noise. As using the vertical bipolar junction transistor available in standard triple-well CMOS in the base-band analog circuits, this invention realizes the direct conversion receiver that DC off-set, matching characteristics of the relationship of I/Q circuit and noise characteristics are improved.

  • Patent number: 7088021
Abstract: An electric motor structure includes a rotary shaft with a coolant passageway therein and a rotor with a cooling surface non-rotatably coupled to the rotary shaft. The coolant is supplied from the coolant passageway of the rotary shaft to the cooling surface of the rotor and flows along the cooling surface of the rotor as a liquid film. The electric motor structure is further provided with a coolant discharge restricting section configured and arranged to restrict discharging of the coolant from the cooling surface. The coolant discharge restricting section protrudes from the cooling surface in a direction substantially perpendicular to the cooling surface where the coolant flown along the cooling surface is discharged from the cooling surface. Thus, a high cooling performance is obtained even when the rotor rotates at high rotational speeds by maintaining a sufficient liquid film thickness.

  • Patent number: 7082936
Abstract: An engine control device is configured to prevent a rotational speed of a vehicle engine from becoming abnormally low during deceleration due to an abnormal air-fuel ratio. When conditions for feedback control of engine idle speed are not satisfied and self diagnosis results of the air-fuel ratio control system are normal, the control device determines if the air-fuel ratio is in an abnormally lean state. The control device then determines if the abnormally lean air-fuel ratio state has continued without interruption for a prescribed period or longer. If so, the control device calculates an air-fuel ratio abnormality compensation quantity, e.g., adds an air-fuel ratio abnormality compensation value to an idle compensation air quantity, to increase the intake air quantity and compensate for the engine torque deficiency resulting from the lean air-fuel ratio state.

  • Patent number: 7080612
Abstract: A cylinder block for an internal combustion engine has a water jacket formed between cylindrically configured cylinder walls and a jacket sidewall. The cylinder walls is arranged to slideably retain pistons therein. The jacket sidewall is disposed around an external periphery of the cylinder walls. A pair of external block walls is provided on transverse sides of the cylinder block to extend almost an entire longitudinal length of the cylinder block. The external block walls are spaced apart from the jacket sidewall in a transverse direction to form gaps therebetween. The top end portions of the external block walls constitute an external flange portion of a top deck of the cylinder block. Thus, the rigidity of the top deck of the cylinder block is improved, and the sealing between the cylinder block and a cylinder head via a head gasket is improved.
