  • Patent number: 6902504
Abstract: An adjusting mechanism is provided for a bicycle derailleur, which can adjust a position of a chain guide in an axial direction. The derailleur basically has a base member, a movable member with the chain guide and a linkage assembly. The adjustment mechanism is preferably operatively coupled between the movable member and the chain guide, or between the base member and the frame. The adjusting mechanism includes a first tubular portion, a second tubular portion, a biasing member and an adjustment member. The second tubular portion is arranged around the first tubular portion to move axially relative to the first tubular portion via the adjustment member. The biasing member is arranged to apply an urging force on the tubular portions. One of the tubular portions has a rigid non-compressible support projection arranged to selectively contact the other tubular portion when the tubular portions move relative to each.

  • Patent number: 6901895
Abstract: A camshaft rotational detection structure is configured that can improve the precision with which the camshaft rotational angle is detected. The camshaft rotational detection structure detects the rotational angle of a camshaft to which rotation is transmitted from the crankshaft of an engine through a cam sprocket mechanism. The camshaft rotational detection structure is provided with a cam thrust flange, a detection target, and a sensor. The cam thrust flange is provided on the camshaft near the end of the camshaft where the cam sprocket mechanism exists and serves to restrict axial movement of the camshaft. The detection target is provided on the cam thrust flange. The sensor is arranged facing opposite the detection target and is configured to detect the rotational angle of the camshaft.

  • Patent number: 6902511
Abstract: A vehicle driving force control apparatus is provided for a vehicle to prevent a shock from being generated when a clutch disposed between a subordinate drive source and subordinate drive wheels is transferred to a disengaged state during vehicle travel. When a transition is made from a four-wheel drive state to a two-wheel drive state, and a clutch is released during vehicle travel, the motor torque is maintained constant at a level of a clutch-release torque required by the electric motor as the output for bringing the torque on the clutch substantially to zero.

  • Patent number: 6899210
Abstract: A piston coupling mechanism in a lockup device having a piston that presses the friction coupling part of a clutch mechanism against the front cover of a fluid-type torque transmission device is provided reduce the amount of work required for assembly. The piston coupling mechanism 76 of the lockup device 7 functions to couple the piston 75 to the front cover 11 such that it rotate integrally with the front cover 11 while being movable in the axial direction. The piston coupling mechanism 76 has a piston lug plate 83, a cover lug plate 84, and a return plate 85. The piston lug plate 83 and the cover lug plate 84 mate in such a manner that they can move in the axial direction but cannot rotate relative to each other. The return plate 85 can apply an axial force against the piston 75 directed toward the transmission and can also limit the axial movement of the piston 75 toward the transmission.

  • Patent number: 6896308
Abstract: A vehicle storage box mounting structure is configured to reduce the discomfort felt by the passenger when the passenger's knees hit the storage box during a front collision without significantly reducing the strength and rigidity of the slide rails overall. The vehicle storage box mounting structure serves to mount a storage box to a vehicle in such a manner that the storage box can be moved between two positions, a stored position and a pulled out position, by slide rails provided on both sides of the storage box. The vehicle storage box mounting structure is configured such that at least a portion of the slide rails can be made to swing in response to an input force to the storage box from a passenger during a front collision.

  • Patent number: 6898521
Abstract: A navigation device is configured to provide a suitable route that appropriately guides a vehicle to a user outside the vehicle even when the user has moved. The navigation device detects a current vehicle position using a GPS signal receiving section that temporarily stores the vehicle position. The navigation device is configured to receive a signal containing position information from a portable telephone terminal. Then, the navigation device sets the stored position of the portable telephone terminal as the current destination, and calculates a recommended route to the destination. The navigation device communicates with the portable communication terminal to acquire updated position information. Then, the navigation device updates the destination based on the updated position information, and recalculates the recommended route from the current position to the updated destination.

  • Patent number: 6898504
Abstract: A vehicle driving force control apparatus is configured for a four-wheel drive vehicle that switches between a four-wheel drive state and a two-wheel drive state. The driving force control apparatus improves the response when a vehicle shifts into a four-wheel drive state while starting to move from a state of rest and, simultaneously, avoids the occurrence of shock when the clutch is connected. When the rotational speeds of the motor and the rear wheels reach or fall below their respective minimum detectable rotational speeds, the controller calculates estimated times until the motor and the rear wheels will stop based on the rotational speeds detected up until the minimum detectable rotational speed was reached and begins counting down from those estimated times. Since the clutch is connected after both estimated times have reached zero, the clutch is connected while reliably avoiding the occurrence of shock.

  • Patent number: 6893235
Abstract: A lubrication path to press-contact surfaces of a fixed and orbiting scrolls serves also as a high-level pressure introduction passageway when a difference between a high-level pressure and a low-level pressure is great. On the other hand, when the high-level pressure introduction passageway is blocked off in a state in which the high-low pressure difference is small, refrigerating machine oil is supplied to the press-contact surfaces through a low-level pressure space within the casing, for controlling the pressing force of the orbiting scroll against the fixed scroll, and the construction for preventing a decrease in efficiency is simplified, thereby not only reducing the cost but also preventing the occurrence of a maloperation.

  • Patent number: 6889997
Abstract: A snowboard binding comprises a base, a front binding arrangement and a rear binding arrangement. One of the front and rear binding arrangements is a binding member and the other is a binding mechanism, which includes a catch, a latch and a stationary guide. The catch moves between release and latched positions. The latch selectively holds the catch in at least one latched position. The stationary guide is fixed to the base to form a cleat insertion opening between the catch and the stationary guide. Preferably, the binding member is a front binding member and the binding mechanism is a rear binding mechanism. The catch preferably pivots about a pivot axis that is spaced rearwardly on the base from a pivot axis of the latch.
