  • Patent number: 5551318
Abstract: A vehicle power train flywheel assembly having an input-side flexible coupling and power transmission damping mechanism whereby power is transmitted from the crankshaft of an engine to a main body of the flywheel assembly via a combination viscous fluid and elastic damping device. The power trans-mission damping mechanism includes a flexible annular input plate formed from sheet metal, and a rimmed sub-plate that together with the input plate forms a viscous fluid chamber, in which an undulated ribbon spring, as the elastic damping device, is installed. During power transmission the ribbon spring is compressed between an input-side sub-plate and an output side stop plate of the flywheel assembly, and torsional fluctuations meanwhile expanding and contracting the ribbon spring are damped as the narrow duct surrounding the ribbon spring chokes the flow of viscous fluid, developing viscous damping resistance.

Abstract: For an image reproducing system provided with an auto-restoration capability, a monitoring system is disclosed involving display by an image reproducing machine of the system in connection with fault diagnosis and auto-restoration processes by the image reproducing machine. The disclosed monitoring system in particular concerns a network of likewise auto-restoring image reproducing machines in communication with a host computer. The image reproducing machine has machine-condition constant-monitoring sensors through which a main controller of the image reproducing machine detects faults causing operational malfunction. A communication device transmits data indicating operational malfunction in an image reproducing machine from its main controller to the host computer. The main controller prepares and executes an auto-restoration process implementing restorative operations to compensate functionally for the detected faults, and interprets as restorative state data success of implemented restorative operations.

  • Patent number: 5537891
Abstract: A bicycle brake lever mechanism having a bracket mountable to a bicycle handlebar, a lever mounted for pivotal movement to the bracket and a brake cable connector connected to the lever. The cable connector is connected to the lever via an adjusting mechanism for so that the return position of the brake lever relative to a lever bracket may be adjusted to accommodate various sized hands. Further, the adjusting mechanism allows for adjustment of a lever ratio A which is defined mathematically by the distance between the pivot point of the lever and the pivot point of the cable connector on the lever divided by the distance from a set point on the brake lever to the pivot point of the lever.

  • Patent number: 5528848
Abstract: A coupling sleeve for coupling the tip section of a hollow fishing rod to the butt section, which retains the reel. Fore and hind portions of the coupling sleeve serve as joints engageable with the tip and butt sections. The central portion of the coupling sleeve, of greater section modulus of elasticity than the joint portions, has a fishing line guide hole for guiding fishing line from the reel, through a bore connecting the guide hole with a tip socket in the fore joint, and into the hollow tip section of the fishing rod. Further there is at least one additional opening on the exterior of the coupling sleeve central portion, opening to the fishing line guide hole and thus serving to discharge water and debris scraped from the fishing line as it travels through the bore and on the rim of the guide hole.
