  • Patent number: 6956595
Abstract: While light of R, G and B is switched from one to another and directed to a plurality of light shutter elements made of PLZT, a voltage is applied in accordance with image data between individual electrodes for the respective light shutter elements and a common electrode for all the light shutter elements. While a half-wave voltage Vr for light of R is applied to the individual electrodes, the voltage applied to the common electrode is altered to 0V, Vr-Vg and Vr-Vb in synchronization with switch of the three primary colors so that half-wave voltages for the respective colors can be applied to the light shutter elements.

  • Patent number: 6956429
Abstract: A voltage regulator includes an input terminal at which an input voltage is applied and an output terminal at which an output voltage is provided to a load. The load defines a load current. A gate modulated diode is connected between the input terminal and the output terminal. The gate modulated diode has a forward voltage drop that is controllable by a voltage signal applied to a gate of the gate modulated diode. A first operational amplifier, capable of operating with a low supply voltage, is operable to apply the voltage signal at the gate of the gate modulated diode to control the forward voltage drop. The output voltage is regulated to a predetermined low voltage when the load current is within an operational range for the voltage regulator.

  • Patent number: 6954042
Abstract: A motor driving circuit is described for three-phase brushless DC motors, which have a three-phase-coil and first and second Hall sensors to detect the magnetic field of a rotor. The motor driving circuit includes first and second comparators, comparing a first and second pair of Hall signals from the Hall sensors, and outputting a first and second Hall signals. An adder unit receives the first and second pair of Hall signals to output a third pair of Hall signals to a third comparator, which outputs a third Hall signal. A motor driver is controlled by the first, second, and third Hall signals of the first, second and third comparators to change directions of currents flowing through phases of the three-phase coil accordingly to rotate the rotor of the motor. The first and second Hall signals can be amplified to match the level of the third Hall signal, or vice versa.

  • Patent number: 6954195
Abstract: A display device which has a liquid crystal display which has a plurality liquid crystal pixels arranged in a matrix and which writes an image thereon after resetting the liquid crystal. The method of writing on the liquid crystal display can be selected from driving methods according to interlace scanning in which a frame is divided into a plurality of fields and writing by interlace scanning is performed and driving methods according to sequential scanning in which scanning lines are subjected to writing serially. When high-speed writing is required, for example, when display of a motion picture, display of inputted letters or scroll display is desired, one of the driving methods according to interlace scanning is selected. In interlace scanning, based on the end of a blackout state of a scanning line in a field, selection of a scanning line in the next field for writing is started.

  • Patent number: 6950136
Abstract: In a solid-state image-sensing device, when image sensing is performed, in each pixel, MOS transistors T1 and T5 are turned on and a MOS transistor T6 is turned off so that a MOS transistor T2 operates in a subthreshold region. When resetting is preformed, in each pixel, the MOS transistors T1 and T5 are turned off and the MOS transistor T6 is turned on so that the gate voltage of the MOS transistor T2 is kept constant. In this state, the MOS transistor T2 is brought first into a conducting state and then, by turning a signal ?VPS to a high level, into a cut-off state. This permits a signal proportional to the threshold value of the MOS transistor T2 to be output as compensation data.

  • Patent number: 6933785
Abstract: An output circuit is described, which includes a gain stage, n and p drives, coupled to the gain stage, a mean current generator, coupled to the drives, a reference current generator, coupled to the mean current generator, and feedback circuitry, coupled between the gain stage and the mean current generator. In this circuitry the feedback, provided by the feedback circuitry to the mean current generator, is a current mode feedback. The mean current generator generates the harmonic mean of currents, provided through current nodes. The described output circuit can be operated by providing currents at the current nodes of the mean current generator, generating a mean of provided currents with the mean current generator, and providing a current mode feedback by the feedback circuitry to the mean current generator. The feedback circuitry computes the difference between the generated mean current and a reference current.

  • Patent number: 6930796
Abstract: Whether it is possible to print each one of a plurality of pages of image data on a paper of a designated size is determined. As to a page which is determined printable on a paper of the designated size as papers of the designated size are available in paper feed parts, the page is printed out on a paper of the designated size. As to a page which is determined unprintable on a paper of the designated size as papers of the designated size are not available in the paper feed parts, data representing the page are saved and the page is printed in a reduced size or otherwise appropriately printed on a paper of a different size. In this manner, all pages of the image data are printed, and at the same time, notification is provided to notify the fact that printing on a paper of the different size was conducted. When papers of the appropriate designated size are supplied, printing as designated is executed. It is also possible to select whether to stop printing in the designated size.
