Patent number: 4654151Abstract: A process and apparatus for filtering a polymer which passes through a heated, high pressure filtering chamber across which a filter members passes and in which sealing plugs made of the substance being filtered are formed within entry and exit zones thereof. A plug removal zone is provided between the entry port for said filter and the outflow aperture of the filtering chamber. The zone is provided with a valve to permit removal of sealing plug material when in a heat-softened state. A cooled, substantially rigid plug of polymer is formed initially. Thereafter, the plug is heated at one end to soften it and to permit displacement of a part of it through the valve by fresh, hot polymer. In alternative embodiments, the plug removal zone is not needed and the plug is permitted to pass into the passage but is then diverted before meeting the main flow of substance being filtered.Type: GrantFiled: August 5, 1985Date of Patent: March 31, 1987Inventor: Peter G. Patent number: 4640878Abstract: There is described a photomechanical method for forming pressure sensitive transfer reproductions of color images, either single color or multicolor, upon a substrate involving the forming of a base coat protective layer on a substrate, applying one color ink layer on the base layer and a white ink overlayer on the one color ink layer. The surface of the white ink overlayer is powdered and a layer of photoresist composition is applied. The photoresist covered layered substrate is exposed to a light source through an image carrying photographic negative film to harden the photoresist at the imaged areas thereby forming a mask. Nonhardened photoresist composition areas along with their underlaying layers are removed using stepwise solvent development steps. The steps are repeated where different ink colors are to be applied to form a multicolored image.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1985Date of Patent: February 3, 1987Assignee: Identicolor International, Inc.Inventors: Robert Evans, Robert Evans, Jr.
