  • Patent number: 4654151
Abstract: A process and apparatus for filtering a polymer which passes through a heated, high pressure filtering chamber across which a filter members passes and in which sealing plugs made of the substance being filtered are formed within entry and exit zones thereof. A plug removal zone is provided between the entry port for said filter and the outflow aperture of the filtering chamber. The zone is provided with a valve to permit removal of sealing plug material when in a heat-softened state. A cooled, substantially rigid plug of polymer is formed initially. Thereafter, the plug is heated at one end to soften it and to permit displacement of a part of it through the valve by fresh, hot polymer. In alternative embodiments, the plug removal zone is not needed and the plug is permitted to pass into the passage but is then diverted before meeting the main flow of substance being filtered.

  • Patent number: 4640878
Abstract: There is described a photomechanical method for forming pressure sensitive transfer reproductions of color images, either single color or multicolor, upon a substrate involving the forming of a base coat protective layer on a substrate, applying one color ink layer on the base layer and a white ink overlayer on the one color ink layer. The surface of the white ink overlayer is powdered and a layer of photoresist composition is applied. The photoresist covered layered substrate is exposed to a light source through an image carrying photographic negative film to harden the photoresist at the imaged areas thereby forming a mask. Nonhardened photoresist composition areas along with their underlaying layers are removed using stepwise solvent development steps. The steps are repeated where different ink colors are to be applied to form a multicolored image.

  • Patent number: 4638599
Abstract: The invention relates to a gear grinding machine for straight toothed or oblique toothed spur gears, in which a main slide (2) reciprocable on the machine column and an auxiliary slide (7) reciprocable on the main slide are provided for producing the rocking motion. The direction of movement of the auxiliary slide (7) is at an angle to the direction of movement of the main slide (2). The auxiliary slide (7) is linked to a slider movable in a guide slot (9). In order to employ the machine also for form grinding, the guide slot (9) is adapted to be turned parallel to the direction of movement (II) of the slide (7) and is locked in this position. Thus, a gear grinding machine is created which is suitable both for generation grinding and form grinding.

  • Patent number: 4629926
Abstract: A fluid flow control device of the type wherein piezoelectric spring-like benders operably are associated with impacting members, each capable of deforming a membrane to control flow past a valve seat upon change in the electrical condition of the benders. Each bender and impacting member is isolated from the fluid by the membrane. The benders may be mounted individually arranged side-by-side for multiple use or can be grouped in a comb-like configuration. A mounting is provided for the benders which permits the force exercised on the impacting member by the free end of the bender to be adjusted and maintains the electrical isolation of the benders one from the others. The mounting as installed provides a stationary or an adjustable fulcrum point and a clamping member cooperating with the fulcrum for fixing the adjustment.

  • Patent number: 4629325
Abstract: A device for indicating a definite direction, comprising a screen located in front and a screen located behind, which comprise opaque lines (3) separated by transparent interstices (4), whereby a moire pattern arises when the device is viewed. The screens (8,9) have different division. The opaque lines (3) have the same width in both screens (8,9).According to the invention the device is characterized in that one of the screens (9) is provided with only one opaque line less than the other of the screens (8), that in said one screen the width of a transparent interstice plus the width of an opaque line (3) is greater than or about equal to 1.5 times the width of the opaque line, but smaller than 1.9 times said width, preferably 1.5 times to 1.8 times the width of the opaque line. The two screens, further, are positioned symmetrically in relation to each other so that a central opaque line of one of the screens symmetrically overlaps a central transparent interstice of the other screen.
