  • Patent number: 4931622
Abstract: When an electronic card is inserted into the device, a first reject plate is pressed to elongate first and second coil springs to anchor the card. When no writing or reading ROM and RAM of the card, electric current instantaneously flows through a solenoid to cause a stopper stopping a second reject plate to rotate through a slight angle so as to disengage the stopper from a front end of the second reject plate. As a result, the second reject plate is depressed by the second coil spring. At the same time, a reject arm provided on the second reject plate moves a reject oblique surface of a card latch to move the card latch through a slight angle to lower a card guide, so that the card is pushed by the first coil spring out of the device. In this manner, the card is not pushed out during writing or reading and hence contents of the card are not damaged. A solenoid requires only a force for moving the stopper through a small distance. The small solenoid and a little power are sufficient to operate the device.

  • Patent number: 4922474
Abstract: The chronograph hand (8) mounted on a shaft (7) carries a wheel (11) coaxial to a wheel (13) mounted on the end of a small-seconds shaft (2) extending beyond the frame (1) of the clockwork. A double sliding pinion (16-17), carried by a lever (14), can be brought into a position in which it meshes with the wheels (11 and 13), respectively, that renders them rigid to each other, thus ensuring the driving of the hand (8), or to be disengaged therefrom, that produces the uncoupling of this hand. The shaft (7) is maintained by a flexible bridge (9) of this mechanism which acts axially on the said shaft for pressing resiliently a resetting heart (10) it carries against the bearing (6) supporting the said shaft (7). A friction is thus produced on the shaft (7) which prevents any play of the hand (8). The wheel (11) is freely mounted on the shaft (7) it drives through the intermediary of a friction produced by a cumbered washer (12) owing to which the resetting can be effected without wheel (11) be driven.

  • Patent number: 4918487
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying liquid toner to fractional areas of a photoconductive recording member in processes involving microimagery. The method includes the steps of providing a photoconductor disposed over a conductive substrate having at least one fractional area thereon that is to be toned, providing a carrier member having a conductive layer, electrostatically depositing liquid toner on the carrier member to form thereon a toner pre-deposit of desired density in an area corresponding to the fractional area to be toned on the photoconductor, contacting the toner pre-deposit on the carrier member with the fractional area on the photoconductor, and toning the fractional area on the photoconductor by transferring toner thereto from the toner pre-deposit so that the quantity of liquid transferred to the photoconductor is minimal and can be rapidly removed therefrom without affecting the toner pre-deposit on the photoconductor.

  • Patent number: 4910720
Abstract: An oscillatory mass operative to drive the rotor of a current generator adapted to charge a capacitor feeding the clockwork of an electronic watch is situated above the dial of the watch, which dial serves as a supporting plate for this mass. The arm of the mass is articulated at the center of the clockwork by means of a ball-bearing carried by the plate constituting the dial. The hours division is of relatively small diameter, leaving free the annular part of the dial opposite which the peripheral portion of the mass moves. The dial serves at the same time as a supporting member for the outer journal ring of a ball-bearing supporting the oscillatory mass and is secured to the frame of the clockwork by means of screws. The outer journal ring of the ball-bearing supporting the mass is rigid with a pinion meshing with a pinion of gearing coupled to the rotor of an electric generator driven by the said mass.

  • Patent number: 4904202
Abstract: A spring locking device prevents any disconnection of connected female and male connector members of a connector. The locking device includes two pairs of bearings provided on both ends of a mounting flange of one connector member and locking members having support pins rotatably supported in the bearings. Each of the locking members is made of a springy wire and includes two parallel legs having lower ends outwardly bent, and support pins continuous to the lower ends to provide bent corners therebetween. When the locking members are mounted in the bearings, the bent corners are positioned inside of the bearings and in contact with bottoms of the bearings, and the support pins are in contact with semicircular edges of the bearings and extend therefrom out of the bearings on sides opposite to those of the legs. The locking device can prevent the support pins from removing from the bearings in a reliable manner with the aid of the particularly formed locking members without using removal preventing members.

  • Patent number: 4891855
Abstract: An inflatable suntanner comprising an upper transparent layer, a middle reflective layer and a bottom layer which are all made of flexible, gas impervious material. The middle layer is bonded to the upper layer at a plurality of upper joints and to the bottom layer at a plurality of lower joints, with the area or size of each upper joint being different from that of each lower joint so as to corrugate those portions of the middle reflective layer interconnecting the upper and lower joints. Accordingly, sunlight passing through the upper transparent layer and incident on the corrugated reflective layer is both evenly and irregularly reflected upon the side not exposed to the sun rays, of a user on the suntainner so as to expedite a homogeneous suntan.

  • Patent number: 4888873
Abstract: Apparatus providing an aid to navigation comprising two circular discs which are superposed and rotatably mounted with respect to one other, the upper disc presenting a transparent zone corresponding to a geographical area, for instance a closed stretch of water, with indication of some coastal places or localities. The latter disc carries moreover a peripheral circular graduation divided over 360.degree., the "0" point of which is situated to the north of said geographical area. So far as the base disc is concerned, its upper face is provided with parallel straight lines and carries two indexes situated at the ends of the diameter parallel to these lines. It is sufficient, to determine the course to be followed for travelling from one of the indicated places to another, to rotate the rotatable disc with respect to the stationary disc to bring the points corresponding to these two places to lie on one and the same line of the set of parallel lines.

  • Patent number: 4877933
Abstract: An apparatus and method for heating a food product in the presence of a radiant energy source includes a collector having a plurality of radiant energy reflective cells enclosed in a radiant energy transparent material. The cells are formed by a number of tabs that collect the radiant energy incident on the collectors and form a radiant energy field to uniformly heat the food product. The tabs can be manufactured from a material having a graduated thickness or gradient. The distribution of power within the collector cells is controlled by varying the number or size of the cells as well as the shape, angle or position of the tabs physically or automatically.
