Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of producing a catalyst or pre-catalyst suitable for assisting in the production of alkenyl alkanoates. The method includes contacting a modifier precursor to a support material to form a modified support material. One or more catalytic component precursors (palladium or gold) may be contacted to the modified support material. The atomic ratio of gold to palladium is preferably in the range of about 0.3 to about 0.90. The support materials with the catalytic component may then be reduced using a reducing environment. A composition for catalyzing the production of an alkenyl alkanoates including a modified support material with palladium and gold is also included within the invention. Catalysts of the present invention may be used to produce alkenyl alkanoates in general and vinyl acetate in particular and are useful to produce low EA/VA ratios while maintaining or improving CO2 selectivity.
Abstract: A system and method for creating a trompe l'oeil skylight in a T-bar type hung ceiling system where a translucent panel with an image of a sky scene is elevated above a T-bar grid, by a frame, so as to eliminate shadows of the T-bar on the image panel and so as to simulate a casement-type skylight.
Abstract: A game call having a bellows coupled to a reed for producing sound, together with a reed controller which is operable by contact with the bellows, thereby changing the pitch of the sound produced.
Abstract: A multi-use asphalt paving tractor with frame raise capability and a blind-mateable connector to facilitate quick connection with interchangeable attachments for performing the functions of a paver, a mix transfer conveyor and road widener.
Abstract: A system and method for generating game sounds in a directionally adjustable manner which includes a friction pan call of the type having a circular flat top playing surface and a plurality of holes on generally opposing sides of a substantially cylindrical sound chamber wall, and a method whereby holes or portion of a hole are successively closed in an incremental rotating manner around the call so as to help to create a sound emulating a moving sound source.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for guiding a needle in conjunction with a biopsy using a medical imaging device, where an open-ended needle guide with an adjustable pivoting multi-gauge needle stop is used to guide a needle during insertion and during a tilting of the needle with respect to the medical imaging device.
Abstract: Acoustic emissions are detected by reflecting microwave radar signals off of an object, receiving reflected radar signals, generating an intermediate frequency, and filtering the intermediate frequency to remove low frequency signals associated with object movement and not acoustic emissions. A microwave Doppler radar detector provides the signals, a band-pass filter filters the intermediate frequency signal, and resulting signal is collected and analyzed to establish a relationship between the acoustic emission and the filtered signal. One application described is detecting tool wear using a microwave Doppler-based acoustic emission sensor and predicting tool wear based on the detected acoustic emission.
Abstract: An adjustable apparatus for exercising the neck including an assembly connected to an anchor by a tether that has an elastic portion. The assembly includes a cap, a harness to secure the cap on the head, and a saddle piece that extends across the back of the neck. The cap can be a helmet that forms a cam surface with a channel for slideably receiving the tether and a frontal extension forming a continuation of the cam surface. The tether is secured to the posterior of the helmet so as to extend over the cam surface to the anterior portion. The head assembly further includes a tether attachment adjustment mechanism, a harness adjusting ratchet, and a semi-rigid saddle to apply pressure to the neck of the person when the harness is tightened by the harness adjusting ratchet and when the head is tipped backwardly pulling on the tether.
Abstract: A shotgun shooting stick comprising an adjustable length hollow pole having a pair of retractable legs stored therein when not in use and first and second connectors to couple the hollow pole in a parallel configuration underneath a barrel of a shotgun.
Abstract: A jaw crusher where the tension rod includes an electronically-controlled hydraulic pre-load and an automatically releasable pre-load whenever adjustments to the size of the material output are made, together with a remote visual indicator of the setting of the size of the material output.
Abstract: According to the methods, a site is investigated for possible selective removal of sediment containing a contaminant. An adjusted contaminant concentration is calculated for sediment zones on the site. The site preferably contains a water course. A determination may be made as to whether the sediment zone needs remediation by comparing the adjusted contaminant concentration to a standard. The method may be at least partially implemented in a computer.

Abstract: Apparatus for exercising the neck includes a head assembly connected to an anchor assembly by a flexible tether that has a resilient elastic portion. The head assembly includes a cap portion, an adjustable harness to secure the cap portion on the head and a saddle piece that extends across the back of the neck along the atlanto occipital joint when mounted. The cap portion can be a rigid helmet that forms a cam surface with a channel for slideably receiving the tether and may include a frontal extension forming a continuation of the cam surface. The tether is secured to the posterior of the helmet so as to extend over the cam surface to the anterior portion. The method includes engaging the atlanto occipital joint region with a saddle coupled to a source of variable force and extending the head and neck into an extension orientation against the force.
Abstract: A system and method for providing the functionality of independent dedicated servers in a space savings and heat dissipation limited design, including a PC having a plurality of independent dedicated server cards which do not communicate over the PC system bus and only receive power therefrom. Communication with the server cards is done by independent pin connections on the exterior of the PC housing.
