  • Patent number: 6081713
Abstract: A method of reducing co-channel interference in a cellular telecommunication system having a congested serving cell, a plurality of neighbor cells controlled by a mobile switching center (MSC), and an accessing mobile station attempting to access the cellular system in the serving cell. The MSC fetches signal strength information from mobile stations camped on the serving cell's digital control channel (DCCH). The signal strength information includes received signal strengths at the camped mobile stations from the serving cell and the neighbor cells. The MSC then fetches signal strength information from busy mobile stations involved in on-going calls in the serving cell. For each busy and camped mobile station, the expected downlink signal strength from each neighbor cell is subtracted from the maximum downlink signal strength from the serving cell.

  • Patent number: 6065130
Abstract: A system and method for efficiently managing the primary memory of a processing system such as a general purpose computer system or a telecommunications network by increasing the amount of primary memory available for subscriber allocation through the use of a general purpose counters block (GPCB). The GPCB is divided into an event-map block that assigns event detectors to counters, an event-instructor block which activates the event detectors, an event-indication receiver for receiving signals from the event detectors, an assign/counter that activates general purpose counters, and general purpose counters for incrementing, storing and reporting event count information. The system also provides for designating the general purpose counters to monitor selected events in programs. The events can be monitored on an individual basis or in groups.

  • Patent number: 6059443
Abstract: A method and apparatus for separately storing a first substance and a second substance, and mixing the substances at the time of usage of a product comprising a mixture of the first substance and the second substance. A mixing container includes a main body that stores a first substance, the main body having a lip defining an upper opening. A storage repository stores a second substance. A removable seal is placed upon the top of the storage repository, preventing the exit of the second substance from the storage repository. When a user desires to mix the first and second substance, he removes the seal and secures a cap to the top of the mixing container. The cap, when secured to the top of the main body and covering the upper opening, provides a void above the lip of the mixing container for mixing of the two substances. When the user agitates the mixing container, the first and second substances are mixed together.

  • Patent number: 6045095
Abstract: A vane-airfoil combination for shifting forces associated with an airfoil. The vane-airfoil combination includes an airfoil moving through a fluid, such as air. A plurality of vanes is positioned in front of the airfoil to divert the path of the fluid to the airfoil. The change in the path of the fluid rotates the forces associated with the airfoil in relation to the original path of the fluid. Specifically, a lift force is rotated to provide a thrust component force, as well as a lift component force. In addition, a drag force is rotated to provide a lift component force, as well as a reduced drag component force. The airfoil may be any type of airfoil, such as a rotating cylinder. The vane-airfoil combination may also include a fore-body and an after-body for reducing the pressure along an upper portion of the airfoil.

  • Patent number: 5936948
Abstract: A system and method of multiplexing a plurality of digitized data and packetized voice calls on an intersystem transmission circuit in a radio telecommunication system having a plurality of mobile switching centers (MSCs) connected by intersystem transmission circuits having a fixed bandwidth. Frame relay techniques are utilized to create a plurality of variable length frames for transporting data for the calls. A plurality of logical links are then associated with the intersystem transmission circuit, and the frames are logically connected to logical links associated with the intersystem transmission circuit.
