  • Patent number: 5941063
Abstract: This is to claim the invention of the twin-plate flameholders that can be applied to the afterburner and reheater of the jet engines as well as the industrial burners and incinerators. The claimed flameholder features a certain overlap between the two plates and a slit at the overlap portion. It turns out that a small portion of the air and fuel flows through the slit between the two plates will result in significant modification in the aerodynamic flow structure and local fuel distribution to enhance the capability of flameholding. Hence the performance of the claimed FLAMEHOLDER is much better than the conventional ones in terms of the combustion efficiency, flame ignition and blowout limits, and operation range of the combustion devices. The inclined angle of the twin-plate flameholder can be adjusted by a turning mechanism, this provides the benefit to adjust the inclined angle of the twin-plate flameholders under different operation conditions.

  • Patent number: 5938704
Abstract: An autonomous running control system capable of guiding a lawn-mowing work vehicle to a target point unmanned with high accuracy. Normally, the vehicle runs autonomously according to the D-GPS/dead reckoning navigation method. When the vehicle runs in an area where obstacles and ups-and-downs exists, the running control is switched to a magnetic guidance and the vehicle moves along the magnetic rail underground. When the vehicle comes into a normal operation again, the running control is shifted to the G-GPS/dead reckoning navigation method again. Further, when the vehicle comes near a target points, the running control is switched to the dead reckoning navigation method capable of guiding the vehicle accurately to the target point. When the vehicle arrives at the work area, it conducts a lawn mowing work according to the trace running control, finding the boundary between mowed and unmowed areas.

  • Patent number: 5938073
Abstract: A card stacking and conveyance structure adapted for use in automatic card vending machines such as telephone card vending machines, including a securing seat, a conveyance device, and a press plate. Cards are disposed in a receiving space of the securing seat. The cards will actuate a switch to connect the relevant circuit elements. When a control circuit board receives a card discharge signal, it will actuate a motor which rotates a gear set to bring a roller set into operation. A card will then slide forwardly and gradually pass through a clearance between a front cover plate and a bottom cover plate due to the action of a first roller and a second roller, and then pass through a seam between a third roller and a fourth roller to a card slot of the vending machine.

  • Patent number: 5935708
Abstract: In order to increase active oxygen stability, sodium percarbonate is coated with single or multiple layers of various substances. Sodium percarbonate particles consist of a core of sodium percarbonate fluidized bed spray granulate and sodium sulphate, which may be partially hydrated, as the sole constituent of a single coating layer. The particles exhibit both elevated active oxygen stability and very good ensilability. The coating layer is applied by spraying an aqueous Na.sub.2 SO.sub.4 solution onto the particles to be coated, which were themselves produced by fluidized bed spray granulation, in a fluidized bed and vaporizing water at a fluidized bed temperature of 35 to 100.degree. • Patent number: 5927244
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having a cylinder head body with a pentroof-shaped combustion chamber comprises a piston including a piston cavity and a caldera-shaped protrusion provided around the piston cavity, a fuel injector for injecting fuel downward to the piston cavity and a spark plug disposed obliquely in proximity to an intake valve. The piston cavity is provided on the top surface of the piston being offset on the spark plug side. Further, the caldera-shaped protrusion is slanted towards the spark plug side. Therefore, injected fuel collides against a down-slope of the piston cavity and is diffused partly towards the spark plug and partly towards the cylinder head. As a result, a locally rich air-fuel mixture is formed around the spark plug so as to enable stratified charge combustion.

  • Patent number: 5928984
Abstract: A process for preparing catalytically active coatings for the synthesis of hydrogen cyanide on moulded items substantially consisting of aluminum oxide. The catalytically active coating contain, as active components, at least one platinum group metal and a nitrate which are applied to the moulded item by means of a coating dispersion which contains the active components as finely divided solids. This means that the hitherto conventional production of aluminum nitride during the forming process is not required. The coatings therefore achieve their final activity level, which is well above that of conventional coatings, very rapidly. In addition, these catalysts can be started up under high load and have a lower operating temperature.

  • Patent number: 5920253
Abstract: A local area network arrangement is taught for implementing a control system. The local area network arrangement includes a low-voltage bus composed of a cable pair, functioning as a common transmission path of the network, a plurality of connection units connecting the bus to operating devices to be controlled by the network, and a control unit common to the operating devices, connected to the bus, for controlling the operating devices. Data is transmitted in the network both from the control unit to the connection units, and from the connection units to the control unit. More particularly, the control units send to the bus a constant-frequency carrier signal whereby a number of cycles of the carrier signal form a transmission frame, in which each connection unit corresponds to a particular cycle of the frame.

  • Patent number: 5916128
Abstract: A canister, especially for two-cycle engines, having both noise reduction and pollutant treatment attributes in a single unit. To effectuate sound reduction the canister muffler has mounted within it several tubes randomly arranged in relation to one another. Thus, an emission stream is forced to frequently change directions, causing a baffling effect and a reduction in noise. Further, these tubes are coated with a catalytic substance to treat the emission stream and thus decrease undesired pollutants. The turbulent flow of the emission stream caused by the tubes also serves to increase the contact with the catalyst. Hence, a single canister is all that is necessary to both silence and treat the emission exhaust stream.
