  • Patent number: 7969297
Abstract: Light sources are affixed at appropriate positions in a multilevel structure or in an obstructed environment. The light sources generate modulated light signals, such as controlled light-emitting diodes, which identify the positions of the light sources by their three-dimensional global positioning coordinates and/or equivalent representation that specifies their in situ locations in the environment. Mobile communication devices, upon receiving the light signals, can derive spatial positioning information and transmit such information to a remote location, such as an emergency response system.

  • Patent number: 7965794
Abstract: A transmitter broadcasts a signal having a different code characteristic for each of several directions. A receiver receives the broadcast signal from one of the directions and generates an expected signal for that direction based on the code characteristic for that direction. The receiver detects the broadcast signal from the direction based on the expected signal for that direction.

  • Patent number: 7952487
Abstract: A system may include a battery powered device and a cable used to charge the battery powered device. The cable may include a first connector to connect to the battery powered device and a second connector to connect to a power source. The cable may also includes a flexible portion located between the first connector and the second connector. The flexible portion may include an inner portion that includes an electrical conductor and an outer portion that includes a transparent or translucent material. The cable may further include at least one light source and circuitry to activate the light source based on a charge status of the battery powered device. The activated light source may illuminate at least a portion of the cable.

  • Patent number: 7922546
Abstract: A grounding clamp for securing a grounding cable to a tray having a number of spaced apart longitudinal and transverse members includes a body portion having a bottom portion and inner and outer end portions projecting from the bottom portion. The inner end portion includes at least two finger-like members projecting from the bottom portion for engaging at least one transverse member between the finger-like members. A portion of the body portion includes a cavity defined by the bottom portion, the inner end portion, and the outer end portion for receiving at least one longitudinal member therein. The cavity further receives the grounding cable. The outer end portion includes a threaded opening therethrough. The grounding claim further includes a threaded bolt that is received in the threaded opening in the outer end portion for securing the grounding cable to the at least one longitudinal member.

  • Patent number: 7890585
Abstract: An email review tool gives users a simple, quick, and safe method of initiating review of an email document. The email review tool may provide a window to a user which allows the user to select another person to review the email or skip the review process and send the email directly to the recipients. Transmission of the email is thus deferred until the email has been reviewed.

  • Patent number: 7835760
Abstract: A node may include a receiver configured to receive signals transmitted from a gateway and a logic device coupled to the receiver. The node may also include a memory configured to store label information identifying a data packet stored in the node. The logic device may be configured to receive a message from the gateway, where the message includes label information, and access the memory to identify a data packet based on the label information included in the message. The node may also include a transmitter configured to transmit the data packet to the gateway over a channel shared with a number of other nodes.

  • Patent number: 7744541
Abstract: A monitoring device may include logic to receive arterial blood pressure data associated with a patient and receive tissue hemoglobin data associated with the patient. The logic may also calculate a linear correlation between the arterial blood pressure data and the tissue hemoglobin data. The correlation may be used to assess vascular reactivity.

  • Patent number: 7496129
Abstract: Methods and systems consistent with this invention receive a plurality of transmitted signals in a receiver having a plurality of receive elements, wherein each transmitted signal has a different spatial location. Such methods and systems receive the plurality of transmitted signals at the plurality of receive elements to form a plurality of receive element signals, form a combined signal derived from the plurality of receive element signals, and detect each of the plurality of transmitted signals from the combined signal by its different spatial location. To achieve this, methods and systems consistent with this invention generate a plurality of arbitrary phase modulation signals, and phase modulate each of the plurality of receive element signals with a different one of the phase modulation signals to form a plurality of phase modulated signals.
