Abstract: An unshielded twisted pair cable includes a plurality of unshielded twisted pairs, a filament helically wound around the plurality of unshielded twisted pairs and a jacket encasing the plurality of unshielded twisted pairs and the filament. A gap, between the jacket and the plurality of unshielded twisted pairs, is formed by and is substantially the same thickness as the thickness of the filament.
Abstract: A microwave filter has resonator comprised of a cylindrical structure having conductive walls filled with a dielectric material where the cylindrical structure is recessed inside a multi-layered substrate. First and second conductive coupling arms are disposed on a top layer of the substrate for coupling signals to the cylindrical structure. The conductive coupling arms are separated by a dielectric layer. The first and second conductive coupling arms extend away from the center of the cylindrical structure to form a microstrip line. The cylindrical structure further comprises a bottom portion having a solid conductive bottom plate perpendicular to the axis of the cylinder and a bottom conductive ground layer separated from the conductive bottom plate by a second dielectric layer.
Abstract: A connection arrangement for electrically interconnecting the shields of so-called “cold-dielectric” superconductor cables in the context of a muiltiphase superconductive electrical link, each super-conductor cable comprising a central superconductor presenting superconductivity at cryogenic temperature, electrical insulation surrounding the central conductor, a shield surrounding the electrical insulation, and a cryostat surrounding said shield. According to the invention, the arrangement comprises a superconductive link between said shields, said superconductive link comprising a link superconductor and a cryogenic sheath surrounding said link superconductor, each of the two ends of said link superconductor being connected to a respective one of said shields by connection means that are both electrically and thermally conductive. The invention is particularly applicable to high voltage electricity.

Abstract: A removable cap assembly includes a cap having a curved side wall having an inner surface and an outer surface. A top portion extends from the curved side wall, a boss extending perpendicularly from the top portion. The boss has a bottom and a top, a first circumferential rib extending perpendicularly from the top of the boss and a second circumferential rib extending perpendicularly from the bottom of the boss. The boss and rib defining an opening in the cap, the opening has a width and a height. A stopper is dimensioned to seal the opening, the stopper has a hole therein configured to allow a fluid to flow therethrough. The stopper is maintained in the cap by the boss and second circumferential rib, the stopper includes a disc shaped base. A cylindrical wall portion extends from the base, a first groove in the base surrounding the wall portion.
Abstract: A data discriminating unit includes a data discriminator and a sync signal discriminator. A data sync signal is detected for the bit string discriminated from the output of the sync signal discriminator, and the data is demodulated for the bit string discriminated from the output of the data discriminator, thereby optimizing the signal to a form suitable for discrimination and detection of the data sync signal and demodulation for data reproduction. As a result, the detection performance of the data sync signal can be improved while maintaining the data discrimination performance. A Viterbi decoder is used for discrimination by the data discriminator and the sync signal discriminator for the optimization thereby to optimize the number of states, the number of paths for state transition and the path memory length. A signal having no continuous inversions of the recording data is used as the data sync signal.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a superconducting cable conductor which contains a carrying element, on which is wound at least one layer comprising two or more superconducting conductor elements, the individual conductor elements of each layer being arranged next to one another, and the superconducting conducting elements are formed from a tape-type substrate coated with a superconducting material based on rare earth barium cuprate, preferably based on yttrium barium cuprates.
Abstract: A flexible electric line with at least one electrical conductor is provided having a high tensile, nonmetallic element and a plurality of highly conductive metal wires arranged around it. The flexible electric line has a high tensile element that is a loose composite of a large number of aramid fibers, the cross section of this element being the same as that of one of the individual metallic wires and where the conductor is surrounded by a layer of insulation.
Abstract: A directory assistance system is provided for providing subscriber information to requesters communicating with the assistance system. A telephone switch receives calls from a plurality of requesters desiring to access the information corresponding to subscribers. A first database stores the information corresponding to each of the subscribers, including their phone numbers. A communications interface for database clean-up receives instructions from the subscribers so as to allow the subscribers to modify their corresponding information in the first database, where the communications interface is coupled to a carrier customer care representative system configured to receive phone calls from the subscribers. A carrier clean-up database is coupled to the customer care representative system and configured to store the modified information received from the subscribers.
