Abstract: Embodiments include a method and apparatus for drilling holes or cutting at specified locations on a beam or other material, even if the beam is offset from an ideal beam configuration. In some embodiments, the apparatus is configured to determine the correct locations of holes in the beam despite the beam's offset and drill holes in the beam according to this determination. The apparatus may be capable of drilling holes at specified locations on a web of an I-beam. In some embodiments, the method comprises determining the correct locations of the holes in the particular beam using the apparatus and drilling the holes in the correct locations in the beam according to that determination. Some embodiments include using one or more clamping mechanisms and one or more drilling members to determine the correct locations of the holes in the particular beam.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for displaying a sheet of music, which may include providing an image of the sheet of music on an electronic storage media; transmitting the image from the electronic storage media into a system processor; showing the image on a display; and electronically scrolling lines of the music image as a musician plays each line on an instrument. Optionally, the apparatus may include a storage media into which a music sheet is scanned to form an image; a system processor for storing and processing the image from the storage media; and an electronic display for displaying the image while the musician plays the music from the image.
Abstract: Embodiments include a method and apparatus for mounting one or more accessories to a rail of a firearm. A mounting member may be utilized for attaching the one or more accessories to the rail. Embodiments further include a method and apparatus for protecting a user from a discharging portion of a firearm. Some embodiments include a foregrip having a gripping portion and a guarding portion which may be used for protecting the user. In some embodiments, the guarding portion has a larger outer diameter than the gripping portion so that the guarding portion acts as a stop for the user's body parts.
Abstract: Embodiments include a piling apparatus for providing support for one or more structures on, in, under, or into a body of water, a floor of the body of water, or a floor bed, comprising at least three concentric and generally coaxial bodies comprising an outer body having a first longitudinal bore therethrough, a middle body having a second longitudinal bore therethrough, the middle body operatively connected to the one or more structures, and an inner body having a third longitudinal bore therethrough, wherein the middle body is disposed between the inner and outer bodies, wherein the inner and outer bodies are operatively connected to one another and the middle body is moveable longitudinally and generally coaxially relative to the inner and outer bodies to stabilize the one or more structures. Embodiments include a method for supporting one or more structures using a piling apparatus.
Abstract: An electronic digital controller, such as a load cell indicator, is disclosed in which a number of components, such as a circuit board, display, and keypad are placed within an enclosure, and the enclosure is bonded closed, such as using an adhesive, to render the enclosure watertight. The keypad is a touch sensitive, capacitive keypad with no moving parts, and it is housed behind a rigid panel. An optoelectronic transceiver allows for data exchange with an electronic memory device housed in the adhesively sealed enclosure and allows for data exchange and for updating or modification of software code housed therein. Other components, such as another circuit board, a power supply, and block connectors, are placed in an adjacent enclosure, and the circuit boards in the two enclosures are electrically connected. The power supply is preferably a potted AC power supply but may also include a battery.

Abstract: Embodiments include a floor covering comprising one or more patches, wherein each patch comprises one or more braids of jute-like fibers. In one aspect, at least one of the braids is wrapped around itself to form a first patch. In another aspect, the first patch is operatively connected to a second patch. In one embodiment, the floor covering resembles a quilt. Further embodiments include a method for forming the floor covering.
Abstract: A combination is disclosed having a trailer, telescoping support members, and a drive. The drive has a motor and a drive shaft, and the drive shaft has a first end portion affixed to a first cross member and a second end portion affixed to a second cross member. The first cross member is operably connected to means for moving the support members between raised and lowered positions. To install the drive on a trailer with a cross member, a segment of the cross member is removed and both ends of the drive shaft are affixed to portions of the remaining cross member. A kit having a drive and a template may be provided for retrofitting trailers. The template is a sheet that may be positioned on a cross member to determine locations for cuts and holes.
Abstract: The invention relates to optical microscopy, and more particularly to the methods for photothermal examination of absorbing microheterogeneities using laser radiation. The invention can be widely used in laser technique, industry, and biomedicine to examine transparent objects with absorbing submicron fragments, including detection of local impurities and defects in super-pure optical and semiconducting materials and non-destructive diagnostics of biological samples on cellular and subcellular levels. The object of the present invention is to increase sensitivity, spatial resolution and informative worth when examining local absorbing heterogeneities in transparent objects, as well as to detect the size of said heterogeneities even if said size is smaller than the radiation wavelength used. Said object is achieved by the pump beam irradiation of a sample, the duration of said irradiation not being longer than the characteristic time of cooling of the microheterogeneity observed.

Abstract: A wart removal device is disclosed. The device has a handle and first and second pluralities of tines having different heights. One set of tines has a height of approximately 0.04 inch or less, and the other set has a height of approximately 0.08 inch or less. The different sets may be disposed on opposite sides of the handle at the same end of the handle or may be disposed on opposite ends of the handle. In operation, the longer set of tines is raked against wart tissue to create a plurality of incisions in the wart tissue. This treatment is repeated over a time period. After that time period, the shorter set of tines is used. The tines create incisions without causing noticeable bleeding. The device may be used in combination with a medicament and may be provided as a kit, including the device and a medicament.
Abstract: A lawn chemical application system is disclosed. The system comprises a dispenser having a lower chamber, an upper chamber, an upstream opening, and a downstream opening. The dispenser may be formed by a tee connector and a cylinder secured to an upper opening of the tee connector. Powered valves are operably connected to the upstream and downstream openings of the dispenser. The powered valves may be wired to open and close simultaneously. A lower portion of the upper chamber may be disposed below an upper portion of the lower chamber and above a lower portion of the lower chamber, leaving the lower portion of the lower chamber unobstructed over substantially its entire length. The lower portion of the upper chamber may have a plurality of openings to provide for adequate mixing of water with the chemicals stored in the upper chamber. In operation, soluble matter or other chemicals are placed in the upper chamber of the dispenser, and the two valves are opened simultaneously.
