  • Patent number: 6179280
Abstract: An apparatus for automatically closing and/or opening of the envelope closing flap for any sized envelope when stacked together. This device makes use of a vacuum transfer device using suction cups along with a drive roller and camming device for selectively gripping and moving individual envelopes through the system. The envelopes, if open, will be stacked upright in a feed tray and, if closed, will be stacked inverted in the feed tray and will be passed to two main drive rollers as a burst of air is emitted from a wedge to change the orientation of the closing flap from a first position to a second position. This can be used for opening or closing of such flaps. The device also includes a housing with multiple rollers powered therein along with a connecting rod assembly and cam member for selectively supplying vacuum to the pivotally movable suction powered vacuum transfer device.

  • Patent number: 6146471
Abstract: The improved spherical plain bearing of the present invention is formed using a unique method of manufacture which includes surface hardening of the outer ring and the inner ring wherein the outer ring includes a fracture zone having a reduced cross-sectional area which allows the case hardening diffusion technique to penetrate much deeper into the ring fracture zone than in the other areas thereof. In this manner the reduced cross-section area of the outer ring provides a more brittle area with less of the more ductile interior steel which is more difficult to fracture. Such fracturing is necessary with such plain spherical bearings in order to allow placement of the inner ring within the outer ring. The spherical plain bearing produced by this method can include a single fracture or double fracture.

  • Patent number: 6107614
Abstract: A continuous microwave furnace (10) with furnace modules (12) is described, which modules, in a series of sequential placement, one after the other, form a heated zone. On the respective housing casing (14) is provided at least one microwave radiating source (30) located at a corresponding radiation window (31). In each respective furnace module (12) a sheet steel bottom (26) is furnished, this being adjustable as to height and is constructed with secondary radiating openings (28). In the continuous microwave furnace (10) is provided a transport apparatus (33), which is constructed of a conveyor belt or transport rollers. Air openings (35) can be supplied, neighboring the radiation window (31) of the respective microwave radiation source (30). The respective radiation source (30) is then combined with an air regulating apparatus (45).

  • Patent number: 6062753
Abstract: A writing instrument with enhanced tactile feel, more gripping security and ergonomic comfort which is adaptable to the customized hand geometry of a specific user and can include a barrel with an outer gripping surface wherein the barrel includes a barrel framework with an axial bore extending therethrough to a tip opening. A gripping section is defined on the barrel in the shape of a hollow core member to define a gripping channel extending therearound. The barrel gripping member is mounted in the gripping channel fixedly with respect to the hollow core and is made of a more flexibly resilient and pliable material than the harder material of the barrel framework to facilitate gripping thereof and to enhance tactile control. The barrel gripping member and the barrel framework in combination are co-molded in such a manner as together to define the outer gripping surface of the barrel.
