Abstract: Coordinatively hexavalent complex salts of trivalent cobalt, in which four of the six coordination positions on the cobalt are occupied by the doubly negatively charged phthalocyanine ring system and the remaining two coordination positions are each occupied by an amine from the series of primary, secondary or tertiary aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic monoamines or polyamines and which are obtained by reaction of cobalt phthalocyanine compounds with primary, secondary or tertiary, aliphatic, aromatic or heterocyclic amine are prepared according to an improved process in that the cobalt phthalocyanine compounds used are those in which the central cobalt atom is present in the trivalent state, and which contain anions, bonded in the form of salts, from the series fluoride, chloride, bromide and iodide.
Abstract: A system for setting the sheet length on a cross-cutter for webs of material includes a computer which delivers to the positioning element of a speed changing mechanism, the positioning signal for one speed corresponding to the desired sheet length and to a controlled group for the positioning element of an irregular motion mechanism and to a control loop for the positioning element of a continuously variable speed transmission. The desired values correspond to the desired sheet length and the control loop for the continuously variable speed mechanism receives as a actual value, the sheet length and specifies to the positioning element, the positioning time on the basis of the deviation of the actual value from the desired value and of the speed selected. Another comparison of actual value with desired value is made only at the completion of each positioning operation.

Abstract: A process for incorporating photographic additives which are sparingly soluble to insoluble in water into a free-flowing, aqueous preparation which contains a hydrophilic colloid and is used to prepare photographic layers, by mixing the photographic additives with a combination of at least one non-ionic alkylphenol/alkylene oxide or diphenolmethane/alkylene oxide adduct and at least one anionic esterification product of these adducts and, optionally, a water-immiscible solvent and then finely dispersing this mixture in an aqueous solution of the hydrophilic colloid, which solution contains further water-soluble or dispersed water-insoluble constituents optionally.Spontaneous emulsions of the photographic additives with good fine dispersion are obtained in this way without high expenditure of mechanical energy. The emulsions are suitable for the preparation of photographic layers, which are used in photographic materials with improved characteristics.

Abstract: Centrifugal separator having a piston valve 3 for opening and closing of apertures adjacent the periphery of the drum for discharge of solids through passageway 19. The drum is provided with a ring 16 which in part defines the passageway, and which has a lip 15. The piston valve has a lip 13. When the piston valve 3 moves down, the apertures are open, and after a short interval the lip 13 strikes the lip 15 closing the passageway 19. Thereby discharge of solids is stopped. Thus, the piston valve need move in only one direction, up or down, for a discontinuous discharge of solids. That provides better control, since for a discharge, the piston need be accelerated in only one direction.
