Patent number: 7802389Abstract: A label holder for displaying information labels at the front of merchandise display hooks, and method for making the label holder. The label holder is of inexpensive continuously extruded construction, which is inexpensively processed after extrusion to eliminate the typical shortcomings of conventional extruded label holders. The extruded body form is cut to usable length and subjected to a plurality of die cutting operations on the back or mounting portion of the label holder, to form positioning and retention features. The label holder is thus provided with many if not most of the beneficial features of specially molded label holders, without incurring the greater expense involved in the molding process. The label holder is designed to accommodate mounting on label holders of several wire sizes commonly found in use in merchandise displays.Type: GrantFiled: June 6, 2008Date of Patent: September 28, 2010Assignee: Trion Industries, Inc.Inventors: Thomas O. Patent number: 7709267Abstract: A system and method for extracting headspace vapor is generally disclosed comprising pressurizing a vessel containing headspace vapor with a carrier gas and subsequently venting the sample mixture through an adsorbent trap and out a vent. A flow controller is employed to gradually increase the flow therethrough as the pressure drops as a result of the gradual depletion of headspace vapor in the vessel and, in certain embodiments, the flow controller maintains a constant flow rate. Due to the time saved, in some embodiments, multiple pressurization-venting cycles are implemented to maximize the amount of vapor extracted from the vial. Due to the constant flow rate, in certain embodiments, the pressure decay is monitored and compared to reference values in order to determine whether the sample vessel has a leak or other defect.Type: GrantFiled: October 14, 2005Date of Patent: May 4, 2010Assignee: PerkinElmer LAS, Inc.Inventors: Andrew Tipler, Christopher Mazza

Patent number: 7534286Abstract: Systems and methods for cooling a chromatographic column is disclosed generally, comprising heating a chromatographic column, supplying fluid into the column via the inlet end of the column at an inlet pressure, decreasing the temperature of the column, thereby causing the fluid in the column to contract, and controlling the fluid in the column such that the rate at which the fluid in the column contracts does not exceed the flow rate of the fluid supplied to the column. In certain embodiments, the rate of change of the volume of the fluid in the column as the column temperature decreases is modeled, and the rate of contraction of the gas in the column is estimated therefrom. In some embodiments, the column temperature and/or inlet pressure are controlled by a programmable chromatographic oven.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 2006Date of Patent: May 19, 2009Assignee: PerkinElmer LAS, Inc.Inventor: Andrew Tipler

Patent number: 7431110Abstract: A high-torque gear assembly for a personal mobility apparatus is disclosed generally comprising a shaft that drives a drive wheel of the personal mobility apparatus, a worm driven by a motor, and a worm wheel coupled to the shaft and driven by the worm, where both the worm wheel is a globoid gear and the worm is a globoid worm. In some embodiments, a gear train is coupled between a gear shaft and a drive wheel shaft for translating the rotational motion. In certain embodiments, the worm wheel and the worm have a gear ratio of at least 10:1, and the worm has a lead angle between twenty and thirty degrees.Type: GrantFiled: February 2, 2006Date of Patent: October 7, 2008Assignee: Hartford Technologies, Inc.Inventors: Peter J. Patent number: 7145650Abstract: In a spectroscopic process a sample for producing a test spectral line or spectrum of at least one component contained in the sample is stimulated and the transmitted and/or emitted electromagnetic rays are used to create the test spectral line or spectrum. In order to improve such a spectroscopic process to such an extent that variations of certain parameters, which alter the shape and/or occurrence of a spectral line, are compensated, a comparison spectral line or spectrum of a known comparison material is produced under substantially the same parameters as the sample. The comparison spectral line or spectrum is compared with an ideal comparison spectral line or spectrum in order to calculate a transfer function, and the transfer function is applied to the test spectral line or spectrum in order to calculate a corrected test spectral line or spectrum.Type: GrantFiled: February 20, 2003Date of Patent: December 5, 2006Assignee: PerkinElmer LAS, Inc.Inventors: Yongdong Wang, Bernhard H. Radziuk, David H. Tracy
