  • Patent number: 4619848
Abstract: A sealing gasket for the inner surface of a container closure is formed, generally by melt application, of a composition which comprises a blend of 55 to 99% ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer having a vinyl acetate content of less than 25% and a melt index above 300 and polyethylene having a melt index above 200.

  • Patent number: 4605351
Abstract: A closure lining machine comprises a lining applicator 7, a star wheel 4 to receive a closure to be lined and move it to the lining applicator and thence to an outlet 8. The machine also includes a stepping motor 9 driving the star wheel 4, and a control circuit including variable means 17, variable in dependence upon the number of pockets 3 in the star wheel 4. The control circuit controls the stepping motor 9 and hence the movement of the star wheel 4 and also controls the operation of the lining applicator 7 so that upon changing the star wheel 4 to accommodate a different size of closure the control of the rotation of the star wheel 4 and the application of the lining is controlled by the control circuit in response to a change in the signal from the variable means 17.

  • Patent number: 4582204
Abstract: A column system for chromatography is provided which comprises (1) a supporting structure for column units having a pair of upright end frames interconnected by pairs of horizontal slide rails at different levels, each pair of slide rails at an individual level being adapted slidably to carry a platform movable along said slide rails, said slide rails being disposed inboard of the uprights of the end frames so that a platform may be slid into and out of engagement with the slide rails by passing through at least one of the end frames, and stop means for preventing unintentional movement of a platform off its associated slide rails; and (2) a plurality of platforms each carrying an individual column unit, each platform including clamping means for securing the platform in a desired position along the slide rail pair on which it rests, said clamping means being integrated with said stop means.

  • Patent number: 4529740
Abstract: Hot melt compositions are disclosed from which foamed products having a fine and uniform void structure therein can be obtained. The compositions include a thermoplastic polymer preferably an elastomer such as a styrene-butadiene block copolymer, and a small amount of a salt of a sulfonated styrene polymer. Plasticizing processing aids, tackifying agents and antioxidants can be included in the compositions, as well as in addition surfactants such as dodecylbenzene sulfonate. The composition can be mixed with gaseous blowing agents by suitable means and dispensed to produce foamed products suited for example as sealants in closures for containers.

  • Patent number: 4474129
Abstract: A fairing for riser pipe immersed in a fluid medium, usually fresh water or sea water. The fairing is constructed of syntatic foam and is compatible with existing systems. The fairing may be removably secured to riser buoyancy modules. The fairing has special fluid flow characteristics.
