  • Patent number: 5479660
Abstract: An exercise glove includes a generally rectangular palm structure with one end being slightly curved and the other end having a generally straight edge for fitting comfortably under the middle joint of the fingers. A pair of straps with hook and loop connectors extend outwardly from the sides near the curved end to encircle the back of the hand. The item is used primarily by weight lifters, but also in other forms of exercise. The surface of the generally planar palm structure, which faces outwardly from the palm, includes a stipled coating for providing an improved grip. Also, the inwardly facing surface includes a padding or cushion for assisting in cushioning shock during exercise.

  • Patent number: 5452548
Abstract: The present invention is concerned with the improvement of bearings for use in supporting bridges or large-scale buildings. The invention comprises combining the advantages of a conventional metal bearings with synthetic rubber bearings to improve vertical resistance as well as horizontal and torsional rigidity under reciprocal seismic load. Relatively simple and inexpensive products are used to produce the invention. The invention is formed with the multilayer pattern of having metal plates as a bearing unit and metal bars, located in the center of the bearing unit, which anchor the top and bottom bearing plates so as to limit horizontal displacement. It utilizes synthetic rubber for sealing bearing units to protect the metal bearing units from corrosion.

  • Patent number: 5409638
Abstract: A new and improved electric stun gun is provided to utilize an electrically conductive liquid mixed in storage containers, which is discharged by use of a compressed gas and activated by a three-position trigger and two liquids combined outside of the discharge point, by means of having one liquid stream negatively charged and the other liquid stream positively charged. A high voltage low current shock is provided to the recipient of the streams of liquid.

  • Patent number: 5377499
Abstract: A method and apparatus for reclaiming refrigerant are described to include a bypass line for hot gas is coupled to a distillation liquid temperature control, which controls the temperature of the system to remain at a very low temperature setting in order to prevent moisture carry-over, and maintain an exact liquid level. The distillation chamber itself contains a heat exchange system and comprises an outlet subsystem for distilled refrigerant, as well as an inlet for contaminated refrigerant. Vapor forms above the liquid in the chamber which is discharged into a compressor, which feeds back hot gases through a helical coil arrangement immersed in the distillation chamber. The compressor alternatively bypasses the helical coil under the control of the temperature controller. In either event, either from the bypass or from the coil a small air cooled dispenser dissipates heat from the compressor work.

  • Patent number: 5358123
Abstract: A woven wire screen is held tightly on a circular tension ring mount and attached directly thereto by welding. A basic Z-shape for the tension ring is modified by a vertical partial drop from the inner part of the tension ring in order to prevent jamming of anti-blinding devices. The overall structure provides the necessary stiffness and is devoid of crevices and the like, which would not be suitable in a sanitary environment.

  • Patent number: 5244298
Abstract: An elongated housing structure is provided for accommodating a toothbrush head at one of its ends, and for insertion of a tube of toothpaste through the other of its ends. A rotating pin is provided to roll the bottom end of the toothpaste tube, thereby to dispense the toothpaste, and to move forwardly of the housing as the tube becomes smaller and smaller when the toothpaste is dispensed. The forward motion of the pin is accommodated by an elongated slot defined by the housing. A further structural provision is made in order to selectively move the top of the toothpaste tube into and out of position with respect to the bristles of the toothbrush, by means of a knurled knob and depending collar or neck holder movable in a second slot defined by the housing. The toothbrush head is movably connected to the front of the housing, so that the bristles can be moved between a paste-loading position and a brushing position. A gripping surface is also defined by the housing.

  • Patent number: 5235667
Abstract: A heater for radiant heating of an object in a heating tunnel, furnace or the like has a layer of ceramic fibers through which a fuel/air mixture is fed for combustion at the surface and use of the heater as a gas burner. Partly embedded in the surface is an electrical-resistance heater which is heated up by the burner action and then can be energized to provide controlled heating of the object when the gas is shut off. A flow of cooling air through the heater can terminate the heating operation and rapidly quench the heater.
