  • Patent number: 7172513
Abstract: A tool has an adjustable lie angle, face angle, weight, and shaft length and is used by a golfer to adjust a putter to the optimal lie angle, face angle, weight and shaft length for that golfer. The tool head has a face plate and a sole disposed normal to one another. An angle member has a vertical wall disposed parallel to the face plate and a horizontal wall that overlies the sole. A hosel is pivotally mounted to the vertical wall and a first protractor is fixedly secured to the vertical wall. A marker on the hosel indicates the lie angle on the first protractor. A second protractor secured to the sole indicates a face angle when the shaft of the club is rotated about its axis. Weights are selectively added to the toe, heel, or mid-point of the putter head to determine an optimal weight and weight distribution.

  • Patent number: 7150709
Abstract: A seeding needle lumen is adapted to receive a string of seeds and spacers. A dimple is formed in the seeding needle near its distal end and a protuberance formed by the dimple extends into the lumen. A hollow housing formed of a bio-absorbable, flexible and resilient material is positioned within the lumen in abutting relation to a trailing end of the protuberance. The hollow housing has an external diameter slightly less than a diameter of the lumen so that the hollow housing cannot slide past the protuberance and an internal diameter adapted to slidingly receive a seed or spacer positioned at a leading end of a string. The flexible and resilient material is momentarily deformable so that the hollow housing may squeeze past said protuberance when a stylet is maintained in a fixed position in abutting relation to a trailing end of the seeds and spacers when the seeding needle is withdrawn.

  • Patent number: 6959662
Abstract: An elongate shank has a trailing end adapted to be secured to an anchor. A slide sleeve ensleeves the shank, is slideable along its extent, and is rotatable about its longitudinal axis. A leading end of the shank is capped to prevent slide sleeve disengagement. A radially extending apertured tab is secured to the slide sleeve. A continuous loop member adapted to be engaged by an anchor chain extends through the aperture. A vessel operator places tension on the anchor chain and passes over the anchor. The slide sleeve rotates about the longitudinal axis of the shank and slides along the length of the shank until stopped by the cap. The shank rotates to follow the path of travel of the vessel and the anchor is released from any obstacle to which it may be engaged.

  • Patent number: 6935389
Abstract: A funnel assembly includes a collapsible funnel mounted to a base. The funnel is formed by consecutive windings of spring steel wire. Each winding has a reduced diameter so that the windings collectively form a funnel having a conical shape and an inherent bias. The funnel is confined into a relatively small storage space and the funnel is compressed when a cap releasably engages the base. Upon disengaging the cap from the base, the bias unloads and fully deploys the funnel. A downspout depends from the base and engages the fill spout of an oil crankcase so that the funnel assembly is mounted to the fill spout. A user therefore does not hold the funnel assembly while pouring oil from a can into the deployed funnel. By holding the base in one hand and the cap in the other, a user may deploy the funnel and return it to storage without touching the funnel.

  • Patent number: 6932758
Abstract: A coupled seed train is formed by placing a plurality of seed train members into the lumen of a hollow tube. A plurality of accommodation slots are formed in the tube in spaced relation to one another along the length of the hollow tube. The members of the seed train are positioned within the lumen such that each accommodation slot is in registration with a space between contiguous members of the seed train. An adhesive is introduced into each accommodation slot to join the members of the train to one another in end-to-end relation with one another. The seed train and plunger are then placed into the lumen of a needle and the needle is introduced into the tissue of a patient. A plunger abuts the trailing end of the seed train and remains stationary as the needle is withdrawn over the seed train and plunger. The seed train is deployed at the proper position within the tissue. The needle and the plunger are then withdrawn from the tissue.

  • Patent number: 6656106
Abstract: An apparatus and method for visually verifying the quantity of seeds and spacers in a brachytherapy needle. In a first embodiment, the needle is pointed upwardly and seeds and spacers slide from a lumen of the needle, under the influence of gravity, into the lumen of a clear tube that is positioned in axial alignment with the lumen of the needle by a hub. In a second embodiment, the needle is received within the lumen of the clear tube and a stylet is used to push a string of bone wax, seeds, and spacers from the lumen of the needle into the lumen of the clear tube for visual verification. A plunger rod is introduced into the proximal end of the clear tube to push the string back into the needle and the clear tube and plunger are removed to enable use of the needle. In both embodiments, the plunger rod is fully inserted into the clear tube during shipment to prevent unwanted displacement of the seeds and spacers from the needle.

  • Patent number: 6649922
Abstract: A shielded packaging system is formed by a top panel and a bottom panel that are connected to one another along a preselected extent of their respective peripheral edges. An opening is formed along the unconnected extent and provides access to the space between the panels that holds radioactive items. Each panel includes at least two layers of lead foil so that if a pinhole is formed in either layer, the probability of two pinholes lining up and enabling radiation to escape from the space is minimal. The layers of lead foil have at least one ridge formed in them at their respective peripheral edges so that radiation traveling in a straight path parallel to the top and bottom panels encounters the ridges and cannot escape through the edges of the package.
