Abstract: An image reading apparatus to automatically determine whether first and second reading units, which are opposed to each other with a document interposed therebetween, are normally operated and a method of controlling the same includes a duplex path to guide the document, which is read by the first reading unit and the second reading unit, to be transported to the first reading unit and the second reading unit again in a state in which the first side and the second side of the document are reversed. The document is subjected to a primary reading operation using the first reading unit and the second reading unit, and the document, which was subjected to the primary reading operation, is then guided via the duplex path and passes through the first reading unit and the second reading unit.

Abstract: A variable resistance memory device, and a method of forming the same. The method may include forming a lower electrode on a substrate, stacking a first etch stop layer and a second etch stop layer on the substrate, forming an insulating layer on the second etch stop layer, forming a recessing region to expose the lower electrode by patterning the insulating layer and the first and second etch stop layer, forming a variable resistance material layer in the recess region, and forming an upper electrode on the variable resistance material layer. The first etch stop layer can have an etching selectivity with respect to the second etch stop layer.

Abstract: A digital cable broadcast processing apparatus and a method thereof. A power supply supplies power, and an out-of-band (OOB) receiver receives additional OOB information from a transmission system. A cable card to descramble the received OOB information is mounted in an interface, and a controller controls the power supply in accordance with the presence and absence of the cable card, and accordingly controls the power supply to the OOB receiver. Whether or not the cable card is mounted is determined, and power is cut off or supplied in accordance with the result of the determination. As a result, unnecessary power consumption can be prevented when the cable card is not mounted.

Abstract: A charging voltage control method of an image forming apparatus and an image forming apparatus thereof. The charging voltage control method of the image forming apparatus includes: applying a charging voltage amount determined by referring to a basic lookup table which determines the charging voltage based on a system load; and correcting the applied charging voltage by using a first correction value which is determined based on a first correction lookup table which determines the first correction value based on a difference between a target current corresponding to the lifespan of the charging roller and a charging current.

Abstract: A directional speaker system and an automatic set-up method thereof, whereby a steering angle of the directional speaker system is automatically set up. The method includes generating a plurality of signals, converting the plurality of signals into a plurality of sound beams that orient virtual speaker candidate positions using a directional speaker, extracting a physical value to determine directivity from each of the plurality of sound beams input to a microphone, and setting a steering angle of a relevant virtual speaker position by comparing the physical values of the sound beams to each other.

Abstract: An electrophotographic toner and a method of preparing the same are provided. The electrophotographic toner includes a latex, a colorant, and a releasing agent, wherein the electrophotographic toner includes silicon (Si) and iron (Fe), each of the Si and Fe is in the range of about 3 to about 1,000 ppm, a mole ratio of Si to Fe (Si/Fe) is in the range of about 0.1 to about 5, an initiation temperature of a maximum heat absorption peak curve when a temperature increases in a heat absorption curve of the toner measured by a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) is in the range of about 68 to about 89° C., and a peak temperature of the maximum heat absorption peak curve is in the range of about 86 to about 89° C.

Abstract: An apparatus to test a semiconductor package includes a vertical illuminator to supply vertical illumination in the same axial direction as a measurement target and a vertical image unit to capture a vertical image of the measurement target so that a testing apparatus may 2-dimensionally determine information on the shape, size, or position of a solder ball. An inclined illuminator may supply inclined illumination in a different axial direction from the measurement target, and an inclined image capture unit may capture a side image of the measurement target so that the testing apparatus may 3-dimensionally determine information on a state of contact of the solder ball with the ball land. The inclined image capture unit may include a color camera using color information, thereby markedly increasing test reliability and yield.

Abstract: A supporting device is installed between an auxiliary display unit and a main display unit to variously change the position and pose of the auxiliary display unit and a dual display unit having the same are disclosed. The dual display unit includes a main display unit which displays an image, a supporting device which is coupled to the main display unit, and an auxiliary display unit which is installed on the supporting device. The supporting device is configured to adjust the distance between the main display unit and the auxiliary display unit.

Abstract: A method of generating information on relationships between characters of a content includes dividing a text extracted from the content into one or more predetermined units, determining one or more dominant relationships between characters of the content by comparing the divided units with relationship keyword information in which keywords contained in categories are defined, wherein the categories represent one or more relationships between the characters, and generating information on the relationships between the characters in accordance with the determined dominant relationships. The dominant relationships are determined by matching the divided units of text to the categories with reference to the relationship keyword information, counting the number of divided units of text corresponding to each of the categories, and determining the relationship represented by the category measured by the highest number of divided units of text.

Abstract: A method of and an apparatus to improve stability and efficiency during data transmission performed over a wireless network includes transmitting a first data frame containing a plurality of data units to a receiving device, receiving from the receiving device a receipt of confirmation for each data unit received by the receiving device, and transmitting a second data frame containing at least one of the plurality of data units that have not been transmitted or received, according to the receipt of confirmation for each data unit received by the receiving device.

Abstract: In a controlled access broadcast system, a method of providing controlled-access information to a user includes determining whether a selected channel is a controlled-access channel, determining whether a smart card mounted in a smart card mounting part is configured to access the selected channel, if the selected channel is determined to be a controlled-access channel, and displaying indicia that indicates the configuration of the mounted smart card with respect to access to the selected channel. Therefore, a user can mount a smart card to access the controlled-access channel, thus increasing user convenience.

Abstract: A method is provided to transmit a signal by a transmitter in a communication system. The method includes predicting a receiver noise signal received from a receiver, and increasing an intelligibility of a transmitter signal using the receiver noise signal. The transmitter signal includes a transmitter noise signal and a transmitter speech signal. The transmitter cancels the transmitter noise signal from the transmitter signal and intensifies the transmitter speech signal in consideration of the receiver noise signal.

Abstract: A method of transmitting data more effectively, and more particularly, a method of classifying service traffic, transmitting data according to the classifications of the service traffic, and performing a contention free slot (CFS) allocation in order to transmit data in a power line communication (PLC) network, and an apparatus to do the same. The data transmission method includes determining transmission priority of data according to service traffic characteristics, and transmitting data according to the determined transmission priority, thereby providing differentiated quality of service (QoS) according to service traffic characteristics.

Abstract: An apparatus and method of reproducing a virtual sound of two channels which adaptively reproduces a 2-channel stereo sound signal reproduced through a recording medium such as DVD, CD, or MP3 player etc., based on a listener's position. The method includes sensing a listener's position and recognizing distance and angle information about the listener's position, determining output gain values and delay values of two speakers based on the distance and angle information about the sensed listener's position and selecting localization filter coefficients in a predetermined table, and updating filter coefficients of a localization filter based on the selected localization filter coefficients and adjusting output levels and time delays of the two speakers from the determined gain values and delay values.

Another power source having the opposite polarity to the transfer power source can be applied to the drive roller at another time at which the adhesive force between the back end of the recording medium and the ITB becomes weaker, such that attractive force drawing the recording medium to the ITB can occur and the recording medium can be brought into contact with the ITB with higher force.
