  • Patent number: 7327406
Abstract: A monolithic integrated circuit includes a tuner and a SAW filter function. The tuner receives a radio frequency (RF) television signal that has a range of fundamental frequencies from 55 mega hertz (Mhz) to 880 Mhz. The tuner down converts the RF television signal to an intermediate frequency (IF) television signal that has a low fundamental frequency. In one embodiment, the SAWF filter performs the SAW filter function on the IF television signal. In another embodiment, the SAWF filter performs the SAW filter function at baseband. An IF processor for processing the IF television signal to generate a video television signal and an audio television signal is disclosed.

  • Patent number: 7263677
Abstract: A system for creating efficient vias between metal layers in semiconductor designs that employ diagonal wiring is disclosed. The system combines advantages of both octagonal shaped vias and square shaped vias. Specifically, octagonal shaped vias are ideal for integrated circuit layouts that contain diagonal wiring since the diagonal wiring may be placed closer to the center the via due to the bevel corners. However, octagonal vias are difficult to manufacture. Square vias have been traditionally used within integrated circuits and the techniques to manufacture square vias are well-known. Since the final manufactured output of an ideal square via is similar to the final output of an ideal octagonal via, one system that may be employed is to design an integrated circuit with octagonal vias and then replace those octagonal shaped vias with square vias just before manufacturing. The replacement square vias must be chose to produce an output shape that is very similar to the output of the ideal octagonal via.

  • Patent number: 7230869
Abstract: The invention relates to accessing contents of memory cells. Some embodiments include a memory structure that has a first cell, a second cell, and a sense amplifier. The first cell stores a first value. The first and second cells are connected to the sense amplifier by one or more bit lines. The sense amplifier receives the first value stored by the first cell by using the one or more bit lines and drives the received first value to the second cell through the one or more bit lines. The receiving and driving occur in a single clock cycle. In some embodiments, the second cell outputs the first value. The memory structure of some embodiments also includes a third cell connected to the sense amplifier by the one or more bit lines. The sense amplifier drives a second value to the third cell while the second cell outputs the first value. Other embodiments include a method for accessing data in a memory structure. The method receives a value stored by a first cell; and drives the received value to a second cell.

  • Patent number: 7221572
Abstract: The invention is directed towards assemblies of electrical or electronic circuit boards. More specifically, the present invention relates to an assembly for housing multiple computer circuit boards. The assembly include a housing that has several railing coupled to the housing. A connector is structurally and electrically coupled to the railings for hanging the computer circuit boards. Structural coupling between the connector and the railing is accomplished by placing the connector in contact with the railing in a file hanging method. This contact also creates an electrical coupling and establishes an electrical connection between the connector and the railing.

  • Patent number: 7215813
Abstract: A graphical user interface for performing color correction and methods for implementing the color correction are disclosed. The graphical user interface allows a user to adjust the colorspace of the pixels in the image. In one embodiment, a color adjustment pad allows the user to push the pixels from a particular luminance level a desired magnitude towards a desired hue. Pixels from other luminance levels are affected proportionally. The graphical user interface further allows a user to adjust the luminance of the pixels in the image. A luminance adjustment slider allows the user to adjust the luminance of pixels from a selected luminance level by a relative amount. Pixels from other luminance levels have their luminance are affected in a manner proportional to a difference between the selected luminance level value and the luminance value of the other pixel.

  • Patent number: 7216308
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method of solving an optimization problem. The problem includes a plurality of elements, and one or more solutions have been previously identified for each element. The method specifies a first solution set that has one identified solution for each element. In some embodiments, the method then iteratively examines all the elements of the problem. During the examination of each particular element, the method iteratively examines all the identified solutions for the particular element. During the examination of each particular solution, the method replaces the current solution for the particular element in the first solution set with a previously unexamined solution for the particular element if the replacement would improve the first set.

  • Patent number: 7213228
Abstract: A user interface, operating on a display client, for an application program, operating on a remote computer, is implemented such that the division of functionality between the application program and the user interface does not require the application program to possess information regarding the display capabilities of the display client. The remote computer transfers, to the display computer, an identification of a scene for a user interface of the application program. The scene defines an abstract layout for a screen display of the user interface. The user interface receives input from a user (e.g., the user selects a menu item from the user interface). The input event is interpreted, and data is generated based on the interpretation of the input event. The display client interprets the scene, and the data, based on the display capabilities of the display client. Based on this interpretation, the display client generates a display scene and display data for the scene.

  • Patent number: 7212217
Abstract: A graphics system readily activates and deactivates layers of a multi-layer source image. Image data, such as a multi-layered integrated circuit (“IC”) design, is generated for a multi-layer source image. A pyramid of image tiles defines “on” and “off” states for elements that represent the source image. A bit plane identifies values for the elements for each layer of the source image. Mask image data is generated to zero image data associated with at least one layer of the bit plane. The graphics system generates pixel data from the mask image data, and renders the pixel data on an output display.

  • Patent number: 7199805
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a method for presenting computer-generated characters. The method defines several frames for a character and sequentially presents the frames. Each frame depicts a particular representation of the character. Also, at least two of the frames provide different representations of the character. Some embodiments provide a method for applying effects to computer-generated characters. This method applies an effect to the computer-generated characters by first generating an effect script. • Patent number: 7199844
Abstract: A television demodulator circuit, for use in a television receiver, generates baseband video and audio outputs from a television signal, such as an intermediate frequency television signal. The I, Q demodulator circuit mixes the television signal with an in-phase (“I”) local oscillator signal and a quadrature phase (“Q”) local oscillator signal at the tuned frequency to generate baseband I and Q signals. The baseband I and Q signals are input to low pass filters and a Nyquist slope filter. The Nyquist slope filter generates, for the baseband I and Q signals, a Nyquist slope response and attenuates channels adjacent to the tuned television channel. The Nyquist slope filter comprises a transfer function with at least two zero crossings, so as to provide a notch filter response for attenuation of a television channel adjacent to the tuned television channel.

  • Patent number: 7197738
Abstract: Some embodiments of the invention provide a router that can define a route that has different widths along different directions on the same layer. To facilitate the creation of such a route, some embodiments adaptively define the shape of interconnect-line ends (i.e., the shape of route-segment ends) on a particular layer based on the routing directions available on the particular layer. By so defining these shapes, these embodiments improve the alignment of route segments that have differing widths. In other words, dynamically defining the interconnect-line ends improves the shape of a route at bends along which the route transition from one width to another. Also, to facilitate the creation of a route with different widths and/or spacing in different directions on a particular layer, some embodiments define, for each available routing direction on the particular layer, an “unroutable” bloated region about a previously defined geometry (e.g.
