Abstract: A light transmitting storm shutter system for homes, buildings and the like includes a combination of full width corrugated aluminum and half width clear polycarbonate panels arranged in alternating adjacent and partially overlapping relation over a given window or door opening. The aluminum panels provide structural integrity while the polycarbonate panels provide light transmittance. The combination of full width aluminum panels and half width polycarbonate panels provides a storm shutter system that is substantially stronger and more resistant to impact deflection than the light transmitting storm shutters disclosed in the background art, and eliminates the need for additional hardware, supports, and bracing.
Abstract: A wastewater treatment system for use with a conventional septic tank, or other small-scale wastewater treatment facility, for enhancing wastewater treatment without requiring complex control or maintenance limitations. The system incorporates a plurality of primary functions that combine to oxidize, nitrify, denitrify and remove water borne total dissolved solids prior to effluent discharge. Included is a fluidized-bed reactor containing biofilm attached to carrier particulates for use in the purification of wastewater. The fluidized-bed reactor is configured to include two distinct regions, namely a “lower” aerobic region and an “upper” anoxic region, during normal operating conditions. The lower aerobic region uses aerobic facultative bacteria to oxidize Carbonaceous Biochemical Oxygen Demand (CBOD), organic (Kjeldahl) nitrogen, and ammonia while consuming the dissolved oxygen in the water.
Abstract: Improvements in rotorcraft external load operations are disclosed, including a method for transferring a load from an airborne rotorcraft to a structure while providing fall protection for the load and emergency release capabilities for the aircraft. A helicopter is adapted for carrying a load external to the aircraft fuselage which load may be restrained by an FAA approved safety restraint. The load is equipped with a safety harness and lanyard apparatus having first and second lanyards attached thereto. According to the method, a helicopter hovers next to a structure, and safe transfer is accomplished by: (1) attaching the free end of the first lanyard to the helicopter; (2) releasing any auxiliary safety restraint; (3) attaching the free end of the second lanyard to the structure; (4) detaching the first lanyard from the helicopter; and (5) effecting transfer of the load to the structure.
Abstract: A safety cover for swimming pool drains for dispersing suction pressure and preventing a person's hair or other body parts from becoming entangled and otherwise preventing injury or death. A generally dome-shaped drain cover is removably affixed to a new and/or existing suction drain using a universal mounting mechanism. The drain cover is preferably circular and includes a peripheral lip, a sidewall, and a segmented dome-shaped top portion. The peripheral lip functions to form a seal with the bottom surface of the pool surrounding the drain, while the sidewall defines a plurality of openings therein and the segmented dome-shaped top portion defines a plurality of segments each of which include a plurality of openings. Each opening incorporates screen mesh material for allowing water to flow therethrough.
Abstract: A message delivery system for paper dispensers having a housing for dispensing paper, audible message delivery annunciator, switch mechanism, timer and speaker, wherein the annunciator stores and delivers at least one message when the switch is closed, the speaker provides an audible output of the message, the switch triggers when paper is dispensed and the timer controls the length of the message and supply of power.
Abstract: A marine engine muffler is provided having a silencing element with an inclined surface defining an array of elongate slotted apertures generally disposed in circumferential alignment. The slotted apertures are preferably defined by angled sidewalls such that exhaust gas flowing therethrough is forced to travel in a path that forms a reverse angle relative to the overall exhaust flow path thus conducting exhaust gases and entrained water to reverse direction while flowing through the silencing element. The conical silencing element is specifically sized to avoid resonant vibration within the operational RPM range of the engine and is further sized relative to the combined displacement of the engine and/or cylinder bank in fluid communication therewith to avoid resonant vibrations caused by reflected exhaust gas pressure waves generated by the internal combustion engine.
Abstract: A toy doll capable of playing preprogrammed speech. The doll body is in the form of a human infant and includes a head having human facial and head features, arms, legs and a torso. The doll body having a color characteristic, namely being of a uniform color selected from colors which are visually distinguishable from actual human skin colors.
Abstract: A fencing system and method of manufacturing and installing a fencing system specifically designed to give the appearance of a traditional shadow box or privacy fence, wherein the system uses preformed non-corrosive, structurally sound corrugated panels, posts, posts mounts, channel mounts, and clips that mate and are securable using conventional fasteners.
Abstract: A bath towel device and method for picking up, holding and drying infants and small children, wherein the bath towel includes a strap for hanging the towel from an adults neck, a lower end that wraps around the infant/child, a surface area that covers a substantial portion of an adults torso and lap and means for holding the lower end near the upper end when wrapped around an infant or small child.

Abstract: A method of harvesting and packaging marine substrate material with an optimal amount of water and air in retail packaging specifically dimensioned and configured for maintaining ammonia oxidizing bacteria in a state wherein the bacteria are capable of metabolic and physiologic activity after prolonged periods at room temperature. According to a first aspect of the invention there is disclosed a method for the harvesting materials that are naturally rich with bacteria, such as sand, shells, aragonite, and crushed coral materials harvested from submerged marine environments, and packaging the harvested materials in specifically sized sealed containers, suitable for storage at room temperature and retail sale, such that marine bacteria are preserved in their natural habitat—in biofilms attached to the granular surfaces—for extended periods of time.

Abstract: A garment folding apparatus for rapidly folding clothing, such as shirts and tops. The device comprises four (4) hingedly connected panels including a main panel, opposing side panels, and a bottom panel. The opposing side panels and the bottom panel are each pivotally connected to the main panel by hinge members. The panels may include apertures and depending feet for increased folding speed. The hinge members permit the folding of the panels during use and further permit the device to be configured for compact storage.
Abstract: An interactive golf driving range and practice facility including an apparatus and method for detecting the down range impact of golf balls, for processing information derived from the impact data, for providing the golfer with statistical information, and for providing the golfer with feedback relating to accuracy and distance and for displaying useful information while presenting the golfer with a variety of skill challenging, instructional and competitive options. The present invention further provides for selective video recording and playback of the golfer's swing for instructional use and for improving swing mechanics.
Abstract: A hand tool for use in removing a pintle from a door hinge, comprising a rigid, barrel with a slotted aperture enclosing a push rod affixed to a base adapted to thrust the pintle out of a door hinge when the tool is placed against the door hinge pintle and struck with a blunt object. A viewing window is defined by the barrel for providing proper visual alignment and placement of the push rod against the door hinge pintle. The base includes a notch for use in removing hinge pintle caps.
