  • Patent number: 7095757
Abstract: A system optimizes terrestrial signal acquisition in a communication system by initially determining whether a first synchronization signal is available from a first ensemble, which has an associated first programmed content of a terrestrial signal. Next, when the first synchronization signal is not available from the first ensemble, the system switches to a second ensemble of the terrestrial signal to acquire a second synchronization signal, which is synchronized with the first synchronization signal. Finally, the system switches back to the first ensemble to retrieve the associated first programmed content.

  • Patent number: 7077007
Abstract: A process for forming a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) device by a deep reactive ion etching (DRIE) process during which a substrate overlying a cavity is etched to form trenches that breach the cavity to delineate suspended structures. A first general feature of the process is to define suspended structures with a DRIE process, such that the dimensions desired for the suspended structures are obtained. A second general feature is the proper location of specialized features, such as stiction bumps, vulnerable to erosion caused by the DRIE process. Yet another general feature is to control the environment surrounding suspended structures delineated by DRIE in order to obtain their desired dimensions. A significant problem identified and solved by the invention is the propensity for the DRIE process to etch certain suspended features at different rates.

  • Patent number: 7079056
Abstract: A compressed data table is formed from an uncompressed data table by defining a code description bit structure having a code type and a run length of data items. The code type may be configured to identify byte-length data items, word-length data items and/or one or more user-specified data items. • Patent number: 7064950
Abstract: A circuit device that make use of graded ferroelectric structures and techniques by which such structures can be excited by external and internal stimuli to render the device useful for a variety of circuit applications. The device comprises at least two ferroelectric films, each of the films having a graded dipole moment in a thickness direction normal to the surfaces thereof. The graded dipole moment of each film is effective to produce a change in the dipole charge density, and hence an apparent net charge, on the first and second surfaces of each film when an alternating electric field is applied to the film and additional energy is imparted to the film. By providing an electrical connection between the films, changes in the dipole charge density of the films generated by application of the alternating electric field yield a device charge separation output that differs from the individual changes in the dipole charge density of the films.

  • Patent number: 7059446
Abstract: A frame-based occupant weight estimation apparatus for a vehicle seat that is supported by two or more floor brackets secured to the vehicle floor spans an open space between the floor brackets to prevent shunting of the occupant weight through a foreign object lying on the floor between the floor brackets. The weight estimation apparatus includes a fluid filled bladder sandwiched between first and second rigid plates, and is held in place between the seat frame and the floor brackets by a set of fasteners. A spring preloads the bladder so that deviations of the bladder fluid pressure from the preload pressure will be indicative of occupant weight. The first plate spans the open space between the floor brackets so that the fluid pressure is indicative of occupant weight even in cases where a portion of the occupant weight is supported by a foreign object disposed between the floor brackets.

  • Patent number: 7049859
Abstract: A signal processing circuit includes a comparator having a fixed and a variable reference input for detection of a positive quasi-sinusoidal waveform pulse. A signal detection circuit includes a low pass input filter, a voltage input clamp, a variable detection threshold, and a zero crossing detector. The circuit produces an approximately square wave output substantially coinciding with the positive pulse of the quasi-sinusoidal waveform received, from a variable reluctance sensor. The circuit has a positive to negative zero crossing detector armed by a variable threshold of the positive quasi-sinusoidal pulse, thus providing variable noise immunity and a fixed phase relationship between the input and output signal for an input signal having a variable amplitude.
