  • Patent number: 4646527
Abstract: A refrigerant recovery and purification system is disclosed for recovering refrigerant from a heat pump, air conditioner, or other vapor compression refrigerant system into a storage tank while concurrently purifying the recovered refrigerant of impurities and contaminates. The refrigerant recovery and purification system comprises a pair of accumulators connected in line between the compressor and the refrigerant system being evacuated. The output of the compressor is then connected to a heat exchanger positioned within each of the accumulators. The output of the heat exchangers are then connected to a condenser. The accumulators, having the heat exchangers positioned therein, function to distill the refrigerant flowing therethrough to separate the oil, together with the impurities and contaminates normally contained in the refrigerant, thereby purifying the refrigerant being evacuated.

  • Patent number: 4627823
Abstract: A safety latched, water-activated, automatic inflator is disclosed for use in conjunction with inflatable devices such as personal flotation devices. The safety latch operates to relieve the pressure normally exerted by the actuator pin on the water soluble element during periods of nonuse such that the water soluble element will not prematurely degrade causing inadvertent and unintended actuation of the inflator. The safety latch of the invention comprises many embodiments including a removable latch lever, a pivotable latch lever, a rotary latch lever, a transverse rotary latch lever, and a push/pull latch lever. A throwable personal floatation device is disclosed which incorporates the safety latch automatic inflator of the invention.

  • Patent number: 4623441
Abstract: A paired electrode for use in a plasma chamber. In one embodiment, the paired electrode comprises a plurality of angle members which are disposed parallel to one another. Pairs of the angle members are positioned facing one another, one functioning as a power electrode member and the other as a ground electrode member. All of the power electrode members are rigidly fastened to one another by means of a transverse power bus and all of the ground electrode members are rigidly fastened to one another by means of a transverse ground bus. The power bus and the ground bus are electrically connected to a power source, usually a RF power source and a ground of the plasma chamber, respectively. The plasma chamber contains a plurality of paired electrodes, and objects to be processed by plasma are placed between the paired electrodes.

  • Patent number: 4617015
Abstract: The invention comprises a visual pressure indicator for endotracheal cuffs. More particularly, the indicator of the invention comprises an indicating diaphragm which is sealingly positioned within a body by means of a cap. A hole is positioned within the cap to allow protrusion of an indicating stem of the diaphragm. The air space between the diaphragm and the body is connected in fluid communication with the cuff supply tube by means of passageways. A syringe-operable, one-way valve is positioned within the body to allow filling of the endotracheal cuff with air by means of a syringe, and to prevent leakage of the air from the cuff once it is properly filled. The indicator of the invention is fitted to the end of the cuff supply tube, and a conventional syringe is fitted to the indicator. When the endotracheal tube is in position within the patient's trachea, the syringe is operated to force air into the endotracheal cuff via the one-way valve, cuff supply tube, and cuff supply channel.

  • Patent number: 4589522
Abstract: The invention comprises a chair adapted to be used in conjunction with or retrofitted to a tree stand or the like. More particularly, the chair comprises a pair of legs supported in an angled, upright position by means of a pivotable support link. A crossmember maintains the legs in their spaced-apart position. The crossmember is positioned below the upper ends of the legs. The seat portion of the chair of the invention comprises a substantially U-shaped member including a pair of legs. The ends of the legs of the U-shaped member are pivotably connected to the ends of the chair legs, respectively. The back and seating portion of the seat of the invention comprises a length of a flexible material, such as canvas, which member forms a seat portion. The upper end of the flexible member is secured above the height of the chair by means of a rope or the like.
