  • Patent number: 6128833
Abstract: The invention concerns a dryer-section concept of a paper/board machine and a method in the drying of a paper/board web (W). The dryer section comprises a number of drying cylinder groups (R.sub.I . . . R.sub.N), which comprise a single-wire draw, on whose support the web (W) is guided so that it meanders as loop-shaped from a drying cylinder onto a suction cylinder. The web (W)/the wire (H) is guided so that the web is placed against the face of the drying cylinder and the wire is placed outside. In the dryer-section concept, the web (W) is passed from one drying cylinder group (R.sub.I) into the next dryer group (R.sub.II) and further. According to the invention, at least some of the drying cylinders (K'.sub.1, K'.sub.2, K'.sub.

  • Patent number: 6112904
Abstract: The invention concerns a device and a method in handling of returnable packages, such as bottles and/or cans. The device (10) comprises a rotatable magazine (12) for transferring returnable packages, such as bottles or cans, from a feed station (B.sub.1) further. The device that transfers the returned package from the package feed station (B.sub.1) is a rotatable magazine (12), which includes package spaces (A.sub.1, A.sub.2). The solution of equipment comprises, in the magazine (12), an outer wall, which moves to ahead of the feed gate (B.sub.1) when the magazine is rotated. The identification station (B.sub.2), in which the returned package, such as a can or a bottle, is identified, is placed after the feed station (B.sub.1). The equipment includes means by which a returned package placed in a package space (A.sub.1 or A.sub.2) in the magazine (12) is transferred, by rotating the magazine, from the feed station (B.sub.1) into the identification station (B.sub.2), in which the returned package is identified.

  • Patent number: 6095452
Abstract: Method and arrangement for winding a web wherein a roll being formed is supported in an axial direction of the roll by first and second support members placed at sides of the roll. The shape of the end of the roll being formed is measured indirectly or directly, and the relative positions of the support members in relation to one another are regulated based on the measurement. As indirect measurement, it is possible to measure forces in the axial direction of the roll, and as direct measurement, it is possible to measure the side line of a roll end directly by contact measurement or contact-free measurement. Based on the measurements, the relative positions of the support members in relation to one another are regulated such that any defects in the shape at the ends of the roll being formed can be prevented.

  • Patent number: 6082242
Abstract: A power steering system which minimizes control flow supplied to a valve mechanism when a steering assist force is not required and thereby reduces energy loss and which also prevents a deterioration in steering feeling occurring when the control flow changes. A valve mechanism V is made up of a power cylinder control valve for controlling a control flow and distributively supplying it to a power cylinder Q and a bypass control valve for bypassing the two pressure chambers of the power cylinder C; the bypass control valve is normally closed, but while the control flow Q is being increased from a minimum flow Q.sub.1 to a flow Q.sub.2 required for an assist force the bypass control valve opens and bypasses the two pressure chambers of the power cylinder C so that the pressure difference between the pressure chambers rises more gently than the control flow and the driver does not experience a feeling of the steering wheel suddenly being taken over.

  • Patent number: 6079906
Abstract: A method for making foundation piles in soil with a drilling device having an auger, the auger including two concentric tubes, an outer tube occupying an upper part of the auger and an inner tuber projecting partially as a prolongation of the upper part and occupying a lower part of the auger, the inner tuber having a first screw and the outer having one of a second screw and a plurality of blades, both of said tubes being displaceable with respect to each other, the method including the steps rotating the inner tube in a first direction, simultaneously rotating the outer tube in an opposite direction of the first tube and advancing the auger through said soil whereby the soil is compacted against a wall of a formed hole by the combined action of the first screw and the one of the second screw and plurality of blades of the inner and outer tubes.

  • Patent number: 6076281
Abstract: A web finishing section in a paper machine including a dryer section having one or more dryer groups, a calender and a reel-up. The calender is placed at least partly underneath the reel spool storage space of the reel-up so that the reel-up is placed substantially directly after the calender, in which case, the web is passed directly from a calendering nip in the calender onto the reel cylinder or to a substantially short distance from the calender, the web being passed over one guide member that supports and/or spreads the web onto the reel cylinder. The calender includes one or more calendering belts for carrying the web through the calendering nip(s). A method for finishing a web is also described.

  • Patent number: 6070655
Abstract: A heat exchanger, for use in particular in connection with the process outlets at paper, pulp and board mills, including substantially parallel tubes or equivalent arranged in a duct. An air flow that delivers heat passes through the tubes and an air flow that receives heat passes through gaps between the tubes in accordance with the cross-flow principle. The heat faces of the tubes are made larger at the side of the flow that receives heat by means of ribs, lamellae or equivalent, and an air that is moist, saturated, or near its saturation curve is used as the air flow that delivers heat in the heat exchanger.
