Abstract: A filter element, a particle filter, a method for marking a filter element, a method for producing a particle filter and the use of a filter element are described. With such methods and filter elements, individual filter elements can be securely adhered in a simple manner to form a filter. An identification means is applied to the end surfaces of each filter element for producing a particle filter, thus enabling the defined orientation of the filter elements for the adhesive process and preventing erroneous adhesion.
Abstract: A combined pumping system comprises a getter pump and an ion pump. The getter and ion pumps are mounted on a same flange and are arranged on the same side of the flange at two different points thereof. The flange can be mounted to a vacuum chamber, such that the combined pumping system evacuates the vacuum chamber.
Abstract: A thermal evaporation apparatus for depositing of a material on a substrate is described. The apparatus can comprise material storage means; heating means to generate a vapour of the material in the material storage means; vapour outlet means comprising a vapour receiving pipe having vapour outlet passages, and emission reducing means arranged such that an external surface of the vapour outlet means directed to said substrate exhibits low emission. Also the use of the apparatus, and a method of depositing a material onto a substrate by thermal evaporation are described.
Abstract: A dispenser containing a substance to be applied on a patient is described. The dispenser includes a plunger, a tube and a perforated element located inside the tube. The tube contains openings at its application end. When the plunger is pushed during application, the substance is squeezed through the perforated element and the openings and is applied to the patient. Selection of the height of the perforated element and presence or absence of alignment between the perforations of the perforated element and the openings allows control of the application of the substance on the patient.
Abstract: A method for object recognition using shape and color features of the object to be recognized. An adaptive architecture is used to recognize and adapt the shape and color features for moving objects to enable object recognition.

Abstract: Osteotome for the removal of bone and of bone tumors, as well as of ligaments and fibrocartilaginous tissue, during surgery, comprising a pair of blades slidably coupled so that respective distal ends thereof be closable the one against the other for the removal of a bone fragment, pneumatic propelling means for the blades, and a trigger for the operation of the propelling means by a user.
Abstract: A method and apparatus for nondestructive evaluation (NDE) of structures and materials using a highly nonlinear medium for the generation and detection of one or multiple highly nonlinear pulses (or highly nonlinear waves) impinging on a material or structure. The apparatus includes pulse exciters that induce the propagation of highly nonlinear, weakly nonlinear or linear stress waves in the material, system, or structure to be inspected and/or detectors for the observation and the detection of the output waves from the material/structure being tested. The NDE method includes the use of the tunable highly nonlinear apparatus as impulse exciter alone, or in combination with an accelerometer or a nonlinear sensor to detect the outgoing pulse.

Abstract: A dusting equipment (1) for dusting a substantially parallelepiped-shaped or prism-shaped item (9), in particular a book. The equipment comprises a dusting station (6), a carriage (4) and motive means (44, 51, 55) adapted to move the carriage (4) with a reciprocating motion along a moving path between a first position for receiving the item (9) and a second end-of-stroke position. The carriage (4) is adapted to move the item (9) through the dusting station (6) during a motion between the first receiving position and the second end-of-stroke position, and vice versa.
Abstract: An anti-EpCAM antibody, designated ST3232/10, of marine origin exhibits properties suitable for both therapeutic and diagnostic applications. It shows high affinity for the native antigen and good tumor selectivity.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing a photovoltaic device, which method comprises the steps of providing a first layer structure on an second layer structure so that the first layer structure has an external surface, and an interface with the second layer structure, the first layer structure comprising a thin-film photovoltaic absorber layer; patterning through the first layer structure from the external surface to or into the second layer structure by first mechanically removing material from the first layer structure in a predetermined patterning area, and subsequently removing, by means of laser cleaning, residual material from the mechanical removal in the patterning area; and a system for patterning an object having a first layer structure on an second layer structure, the system comprising a mechanical patterning device and a laser cleaning device, and means for relative movement between the object, and the mechanical patterning device and the laser cleaning device.
Abstract: A solar absorber module is described. The module has a housing with a longitudinal axis with a first tapered housing section with a first, free end, and a second end with a reduced cross-sectional area compared to the first end, and with a second housing section adjoining the second end of the first housing section with a substantially constant cross-section over its length. The module also has a ceramic solar absorber element accommodated in the first end of the first housing section with a first surface that can be oriented toward the solar radiation with an axis of symmetry, and a second surface lying across from the first surface, wherein the solar absorber element has a large number of substantially straight channels connecting the first surface to the second surface. The solar absorber module is accommodated in the first end of the first housing section such that the axis of symmetry of the first surface is inclined relative to the longitudinal axis of the housing.
