Abstract: A method for preventing, ameliorating, and/or treating memory and other cognitive disorders associated with aging, such as Age-Associated Memory Impairment (also known as Age-Related Cognitive Decline), and other age-related impairments of, and/or changes in, cognitive function. The method comprises administering to a subject a therapeutically effective amount of a lipid-soluble thiamine or a prodrug thereof in an amount averaging from about 0.02 to about 0.5 grams per day per 70 kg body weight over a period of three months or longer.

Abstract: The invention relates to a computer desk, comprising a glass sheet (1) forming a top or a portion thereof, a keyboard level (2) in front of it and a monitor space (5) below the glass sheet (1) provided with suspension elements (6-8) for suspending a monitor (4) in an inclined position below the glass sheet (1). The suspension elements (6-8) include a flexible net (7), upon which the monitor (4) can be set. The opposite ends of the net have a suspension height which is adjustable for adjusting the angular position of the monitor. The monitor space (5) is confined on substantially all four sides by metal walls (9-11).

Abstract: A skin pinching device has two jaws (10) that may be moved against each other by threaded spindle (36). Hooks (18) that may be stuck into the skin are arranged on the jaws (10, 12). The hooks (18) are cast into plastic parts (14) mounted on the jaws (10, 12) in an exchangeable manner. The threaded spindle (36) may be motor-driven in a controlled manner depending on the characteristics of the tissues as determined by a sensor.

Abstract: A device for separating and removing lamp holders from their sockets, and more particularly, a compact device for removing small lamp holders such as those found in miniature light sets from their sockets. The device provides jaws which penetrate into the cleft between the lamp holder and the socket and which can be actuated to apply prying separating forces in this cleft in order to optimally oppose the frictional forces retaining the lamp holder in its socket. The ease of operation and the limited range of movement of the jaws results in a large degree of control in the removal of the lamp holder.

Abstract: A method for processing pulpy fruit puree or pulpy juice or reprocessing traditional evaporative pulpy citrus concentrate into products which do not resemble conventional juices or conventional concentrated juices, and more particularly, a packaged high Brix clarified juice concentrate which is ready to pour at freezer temperatures, to a 100% natural fruit juice produced from the clarified juice concentrate, to a blended reduced bitterness fruit juice product, and to a 100% juice-blend pulpy fruit product. The invention provides novel all-natural juice blends, including a 100% natural fruit juice containing aloe vera. The clarified juice concentrate as ready-to-pour 6+1 concentrates at freezer temperatures above -15.degree. C. In contrast, the traditional 3+1 frozen juice concentrate becomes frozen at common domestic freezer temperatures of -5.degree. to -15.degree. C. and it is inconvenient to pour and to mix with water.

Abstract: A safe, neat and more convenient process for tinting plastic optical lens substrates is provided by a novel packaging system. The tint dyes are provided in a water-soluble tint packet for the convenient preparation of solutions for tinting optical lens substrates. The tint packet has an indefinite shelf life, is stable even in summer temperatures and high humidity, protects the user from any contact with the dye material, and does not leave solid waste for disposal.

Abstract: A device for heating of the blades of scissors, knives and the like, with heating module comprising an electrical heating strip provided on the metallic blades, connecting conductors for providing current to the heating strip, and a cowling of a synthetic material. The heating module is capable of being fastened on the outer surface of the blade. The heating strip is in thermal conductive contact with the outer surface of the blade, extends over the length of the cutting edge of the blade, and is on its outer surface covered with a cowling of a synthetic material.

Abstract: A non-alcoholic fragrance carrier with good fragrance solubility, product stability and clarity, and silky, non-tacky rub out when applied to the skin. Glycereth-7-triacetate is used for solubilization of fragrance oil into a non-alcohol water system. The ultimate fragrance carrier product is, e.g., a perfume or cologne composition, and contains a reduced overall surfactant level and reduced overall solids level. The composition thus minimizes the use of ingredients which tend to adversely affect evaporation rates, skin feel, rub-out time, and product turbidity.
