Abstract: A shipping package for household appliances such as refrigerators, freezers, compact ice makers and air conditioners for movement by clamp lift trucks. The appliance can be mounted on recycled high density polyethylene skids attached to the bottom of the appliance. The shipping package can include four elongated expanded polystyrene blocks positioned at the corners of the appliance extending vertically from the skids to the top of the appliance. The shipping package can include expanded polystyrene top pads on the top of the appliance and can include a fiberboard top cap covering the top pads and the top the appliance. Shrink wrap film can enclose the top cap, elongated blocks and engage the skids for holding the elongated blocks and top cap securely in position on the appliance.

Abstract: A device is provided for monitoring a plurality of appliances, wherein each appliance is connected to an electrical circuit having a first wire and a second wire. The device includes a plurality of cores, each of the plurality of cores being constructed to be able to surround one of the first wires of each circuit and having a secondary winding at which an electrical signal is generated in response to a current polarity change in the first wire. A multiplexer is connected to the secondary winding of each of the plurality of cores. A processor is connected to the multiplexer to monitor the phase relationship between an AC voltage an AC current of each appliance connected to one of the plurality of circuits and to determine information relating to the function of the appliance based on the phase relationship. The device may be located at the circuit breaker box of an establishment.
Abstract: A distributed refrigeration system for a vehicle includes a vapor compression primary cooling circuit and a separate secondary cooling circuit. The secondary cooling circuit utilizes a non-toxic cooling fluid that is pumped to remote locations in the vehicle through designated supply lines. A heat exchanger acting with the primary cooling circuit cools the cooling fluid. A portable main storage compartment is fluidly connectable to the primary or secondary cooling circuits. The portable main cold storage compartment can be expandable. At the remote locations in the vehicle, docking stations permit items to be selectively cooled by the secondary cooling circuit. Both the primary and secondary cooling circuits can operate independently of the vehicle engine.

Abstract: An appliance having at least one component, a receiver, and a controller. The component is configured to operate in a normal operation mode and a resource savings mode; wherein an instantaneous resource demand of the at least one component is greater during the normal operation mode than during the resource savings mode. The receiver is adapted to receive a curtailment signal. The controller is connected to the receiver and the component, and determines if a curtailment signal has been received by the receiver. If the curtailment signal was received, the controller determines whether the component should be operated in the resource savings mode, and if so, the controller operates the component in the resource savings mode, and if not, the controller operates the component operated in the normal operation mode.
Abstract: A heavy-duty workbench with strong metal legs and a thick hardwood top. The workbench can provide docking space for three modules that can function as an additional work surface when pulled out from under the workbench or when used alone. The modules can be provided with an optional hardwood top. The modules can have large heavy-duty casters to facilitate easy movement for use and cleaning. The workbench and modules are designed for use in non-climate controlled spaces such as a garage where temperature and humidity extremes are common. Electrical outlets can be provided in an optional backsplash mounted at the rear edge of the workbench.
