Abstract: A message display candle in which messages are displayed. In one form of the message display candle, message characters or objects are embedded in combustible transparent gel in the candle body and are visible whether the candle is burning or not. The message of the message display candle can be changed and the message characters can be wax characters in a gel matrix, or formed as part of the bottom or wall of the candle body.
Abstract: A method of making a socket test probe which results in a probe head which has flat plates which serve as electrodes encased in resin. The electrodes are conductive plates with one or more edges of the conductive plates exposed for connection to the electrodes of a socket. The entire probe head starts as a solid block of conductive material which is drilled, machined, filled with resin and machined again to form a socket testing probe utilizing the edges of conductive plates as electrodes.
Abstract: A dual closure nozzle for use with a hose carrying a liquid under pressure. The dual closure nozzle is made up of an inner delivery conduit attached to an end cap and threaded within an outer sleeve. The nozzle is configured to have two different stop positions and to be adjustable between these two stop positions and a variety of open positions. When a liquid is forced through the nozzle, the flow of the liquid can then be adjusted from a first stop position, where no liquid passes out of the nozzle, through a variety of open position spray patterns to a second stop position. This configuration thus provides a nozzle that can be closed by turning the outer sleeve portion of the nozzle in either of two directions.
Abstract: A medical information appliance which reminds a user of times to take medications or to perform medical-related activities. It features a delay mode, which shuts the alarm off but later reminds the user to take the indicated medication. Multiple alarms can be set for a variety of medications or other medical events, and multiple delay modes will be activated, so that the user is reminded to take medications which have been indicated by an alarm, but taking the medication was not confirmed by the user. The device also features a readout button for displaying stored medical information, for use by medical technicians in the field without connection to further equipment.
Abstract: Disclosed is a vacuum cleaning device and system for maintaining the operability of a vacuum cleaner. The device has a releasably attachable/detachable filter unit and a releasably attachable/detachable motor unit. Various filter units and motor units are interchangeable.
Abstract: A sensing device for detecting and identifying vehicles or other events which apply force to a roadway or other structure. The force applied by a vehicle is interpreted to produce a force signature which is unique to a vehicle, and thus can be used to identify individual vehicles. Other force events which can detected and identified include pedestrians, motorcycles, avalanches, roadway deterioration, structural failure of bridges or other structures, avalanches, bicycles, and railroad trains.
Abstract: The invention is an air sampler which utilizes a hydrophobic filter and an entrapment fluid contained within a sampler body. Air to be sampled is bubbled through the entrapment fluid, which traps and retains a selected air component for later testing. Air which is thus bubbled through the entrapment fluid passes through a hydrophobic filter before leaving the sampler body. A hydrophobic filter prevents aqueous liquids from exiting the sampler body. This allows a higher rate of air flow, because the sampling fluid does not diminish as quickly due to suspended droplets exiting the sampler body. The sampler body may also be inverted to rinse down the walls of the sampler body without losing any liquid, due to the presence of the hydrophobic filter. The entrapment fluid can be poured or drained out of the sampler body.
Abstract: A non-invasive female urinary device allows a woman to urinate in a standing or sitting position. The non-invasive female urinary device provides a scoop portion designed to be positioned adjacent to the woman's body, and is sized to fit between the labia majora. The scoop gathers urine as it is produced, with little or no loss due to spillage. A generally tubular body is attached at an upstream first end to the scoop portion. The device is made of six flat sides to allow the woman to control the orientation of the device. The logo on one of the sides provides a tactile reference, allowing the woman to orient the device without the need for visual input. A flow concentrator is attached to a downstream second end of the tubular body, and has a generally rectangular opening that narrows the stream of urine to result in a smooth and continuous stream.
Abstract: A headphone system for use with an existing protective sports helmet and connection with a portable sound producing device. The headphone system is attached to the exterior surface of the sports helmet and extends from the sides of the sports helmet rearwards around the back of the sports helmet and forward to the second side of the sports helmet. The headphone system is removably attachable to the sports helmet.
Abstract: A wellsite pumping system, comprising a gas processing system including a source of compressed gas, the source of compressed gas having a low pressure inlet and a high pressure outlet, coil tubing connected to the high pressure outlet of the gas processing system, the coil tubing including a first tubing string connected to the high pressure outlet and a second tubing string running parallel to the first tubing string and having an opening for entry of fluid at a remote end from the high pressure outlet; and a venturi connecting the second tubing string to the first tubing string such that, in operation, passage of gas through the venturi from the first tubing string draws production fluid into the second tubing string. Preferably, the second tubing string is suspended within the first tubing string. The venturi may be formed by a horizontal passageway communicating with a vertical passageway with a restriction.
Abstract: A drill resistant plate, which presents a rough surface of hardened particles to drilling attack, and which tends to snap or destroy drill bits before they can began drilling. The plate is made by brazing hard particles into a matrix of brazing material attached to a steel plate. Nickel-Silver brazing material is used to form the matrix on the steel plate, and tungsten carbide particles of 8-10 mesh are secured within the matrix, with the hard particles of tungsten carbide partially exposed, presenting a roughened surface with angular pieces of tungsten carbide to the drilling attack.
Abstract: A motorized dump-type vehicle is provided having a chassis frame, an engine mounted on said frame, a dump container pivotally mounted on the front of said frame and a hydraulic system enabling said container to be raised and lowered by a hydraulic cylinder and said vehicle to be driven in either forward or reverse directions using its front wheels. Additionally, as needed, the vehicle can be switched into all-wheel-drive by hydraulically driving the vehicle's rear wheel(s) which are by default undriven.

Abstract: A sterilization cassette and a sterilization method for sterilizing, storing, and dispensing dental instruments. The sterilization cassette includes a mounting bar and a locking bar for dental pliers of various types, a removable instrument tray, and a case with a front side which opens and hinges in two places, allowing the cassette to be arranged in horizontal and vertical configurations.
Abstract: A grid interposer for testing electrical circuits and a method of making a grid interposer. The grid interposer includes upper and lower conductive surfaces sandwiched on either side of an insulating later, connected to each other by a plurality of vias filled with conductive material. The conductive surfaces are flat topped, and incised with a grid of flat topped peaks which are small enough to cut through oxidation of electrical contacts, and ensure good electrical contact with a variety of electrode shapes.
Abstract: A device for smoking food items using charcoal briquettes as fuel. The device has a channel into which the charcoal briquettes are placed so that ignition of one of the charcoal briquettes will result in eventual ignition of the adjacent charcoal briquette. The device is preferably placed in a standard barbecue grill, thereby allowing a user to smoke meat or fish using charcoal briquettes and the charcoal barbecue grill they already own.
Abstract: A description is given here of a novel process for the production of monocarboxylic and polycarboxylic aromatic acids by the catalytic oxidation in homogeneous phase of aromatic compounds carrying at least one oxidizable substituent group attached directly to the carbon atom of the corresponding aromatic nucleus. The novel process according to the present invention comprises the steps of: a) catalytically oxidizing the corresponding aromatic precursors in liquid phase in the presence of gaseous oxygen; b) filtering the end product; c) recycling into the oxidation reactor at least part of the mother liquors resulting from the filtration stage, and is characterized by the fact that said steps from (a) to (c) are carried out in a closed and continuous cycle operating substantially under the same pressure and temperature conditions, preferably at 2-10 barg and 100-140° C.
