Abstract: An outside window cleaner comprising mixtures of one or more polyvinyl alcohols with water, or preferably, polyvinyl alcohol, a cationic polymer, such as trimethylol melamine, and water, alters or modifies window or other hard surfaces such that water drains off in uniform sheets, leaving virtually no residue or spots caused from the deposition of dirt, cleaning compositions or a combination of the two. In a further embodiment, a selected cationic or nonionic surfactant is added to the formula of this invention to improve detergency while retaining the uniform drainage advantage in rinsing.
Abstract: A trigger sprayer for generating a spray of liquid from a container comprising five parts including a housing having a tubular piston with an open ended liquid flow passageway therein; a tubular actuator member slidably received over the piston, having a trigger rigidly extending therefrom and defining a chamber therein with a spray orifice at one end; a rod disposed in the actuator member and including a frustoconical skirt forming a valve in the chamber across the spray orifice; an inlet valve carried by the tubular piston and including an extended valve portion slidably seated on the rod, and a biasing spring disposed between the valves. The inlet valve may include a shipping seal member formed integrally therewith and disposed on the inlet passage to seal it until the sprayer is ready for use whereupon the rod will displace or break the seal upon actuation of the sprayer.
Abstract: Food coating compositions having an ability to produce crisp, brown coatings on food products cooked in microwave ovens comprise coating ingredients and at least one additional salt ingredient. Especially increased crisping is achieved by adding a combination of three salts, i.e., potassium acetate, potassium chloride and potassium bicarbonate; or potassium acetate, potassium chloride, and sodium bicarbonate.
Abstract: A stable, cooperative enzyme system which is stable under use conditions is disclosed which comprises at least two enzymes having activity towards a relatively complex substrate with at least partial activity over the same pH range, wherein their combined activities are greater than the sum of their individual activities as determined by the formula: ##EQU1## wherein E.sub.1 and E.sub.2 are said enzymes. No additional chemical stabilizers, modifiers or activators are added to the enzymes of this invention.Particularly preferred enzymes in this invention are proteases having optimal activity in acidic, neutral or alkaline media, and mixtures of the same.A method of making this cooperative enzyme system is also disclosed. The enzyme systems of this invention have a wide variety of uses in cleaning and other applications.

Abstract: A toilet bowl cleaner dispenser includes a reservoir for holding cleaner to be dispensed, an air cavity disposed below the reservoir, an air conduit including a portion communicating with an inlet to the reservoir, a portion communicating with an outlet from the reservoir, a fill tube connecting the air cavity and the portion communicating with reservoir inlet, a measuring tube in communication with the air conduit, and a discharge tube connected to the measuring tube. The dispenser has no moving parts and is operable in response to rising toilet tank water to communicate pressurized air to the measuring tube to dispense a measured amount of cleaner from the discharge tube, which is configured to hook on and discharge into a toilet overflow tube.A holding pocket is formed in the lower end of the fill tube to provide for a controlled release of cleaner from the measuring tube.
Abstract: A charcoal briquet of any selected shape is configured to provide a preselected ignition time and total burning time response. A method of constructing such a briquet for any desired combustion response includes empirically deriving expressions for ignition time as a function of briquet volume, surface area and density, and for burn time as a function of volume and density, and configuring any selected shape briquet in accordance with the parameters found to provide such selected performance.
Abstract: A combined container and dispenser for dispensing a volatile product such as air freshener or insecticide by volatilization of the product from within the container includes an annular cup having a threaded axial hub and a peripheral flange defining a seal surface. A spheroidal cap has a threaded axial stem arranged for progressive threaded coupling with the hub and an annular seal ring disposed at the outer edge of the cap and arranged to sealingly engage the seal surface of the cup to form a sealed container therewith. A cellulose pad impregnated with a volatile product is disposed on ribs provided on the hub in interference relationship therewith and has its outer edge supported by vane-like support members on the outer portion of the cup. A flange is provided on the distal end of the stem within a counterbore formed in the bottom of the cup and hub to limit the extent to which the container may be opened by unscrewing of the cap from the cup.
