Patent number: 7968171Abstract: Shaped waterproofing membranes having three-dimensional contours are useful for the “reverse tanking” waterproofing of detail areas such as those presented by “tiebacks,” pipes, pile caps, and other irregularities that occur on concrete formworks and other civil construction or building surfaces. A preferred method for making such membranes is to thermoform a membrane laminate, having a carrier support sheet, waterproofing adhesive, and optionally a protective coating layer, as a single unit.Type: GrantFiled: August 19, 2004Date of Patent: June 28, 2011Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.-Conn.Inventors: Jyoti Seth, Jay Kellett, Makam S. Chetan, Neal S. Berke

Patent number: 7682674Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition, which is useful for producing coatings for metal sheet substrates of metal cans for storing and/or transporting food or beverages or a lid thereof, and which comprises the following components: (a) 30 to 90 wt. % of a polyvinylchloride-(PVC)-polymer, (b) 7 to 25 wt. % of an acrylic resin, (c) 3 to 40 wt. % of a crosslinking agent, which is produced from phenol, para-tert.-butylphenol, xylenol or a mixture thereof, and formaldehyde, (d) 0 to 8 wt. % additive, (e) 0 to 50 wt. % pigment and (f) a solvent-component, where all weight percentages are on the basis of the total dry weight of the coating composition (without solvents) and the composition is substantially free of bisphenol-A-diglycidyl-ether (“BADGE”) and also substantially free of bisphenol-A-resins. The composition provides metal can coatings that have suitable flexibility, scratch resistance, adherence and sterilization resistance when processed in contact with food.Type: GrantFiled: May 7, 2008Date of Patent: March 23, 2010Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.-Conn.Inventors: Christian Vogt, Peter Ambrosi, Beate Ries

Patent number: 7257930Abstract: Exemplary methods and assemblies for preventing corrosion of metal connector devices, e.g., zinc-galvanized joist hangers and fasteners, used for assembling outdoor structures such as decks from wood components pretreated with alkaline copper quat (ACQ), ammoniacal copper quat (ACQ-B), copper azole (CA), or mixtures thereof. Membrane barriers separate metal from wood, and seal around fasteners thus minimizing corrosion of the connector devices and fasteners.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 2003Date of Patent: August 21, 2007Assignee: W. R. Grace & Co.-Conn.Inventors: Antonio J. Aldykiewicz, Jr., Gerald L. Blay, Gregory N. Ciampa, Ann M. Jansen, Edwin C. Schaughency, Lawrence S. Shapiro, Albina N. Velikin, Walter W. Wydra

Patent number: 6923952Abstract: Disclosed are enhanced efficacy antiperspirant compositions containing a strontium salt and/or a calcium salt. In particular, there is disclosed an antiperspirant composition comprising a dermatologically acceptable carrier vehicle, about 8% to about 22% (USP) of an aluminum-zirconium chlorohydrate-gly antiperspirant salt, wherein the antiperspirant salt has an HPLC peak 5 area of at least 33%, and about 0.5% to about 15%, preferably about 1% to about 6%, by weight, of a water soluble salt selected from the group consisting of a water soluble strontium salt, a water soluble calcium salt and a mixture thereof. It has been found that the inclusion of a strontium salt and/or a calcium salt boosts the efficacy of a high peak 5 antiperspirant salt. As a preferred feature, the antiperspirant salt and the water soluble salt are dissolved in at least a portion of the carrier vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: August 14, 2003Date of Patent: August 2, 2005Assignee: The Gillette CompanyInventors: Jan L. Allen, Yan-Fei Shen

Patent number: 6663854Abstract: Disclosed are enhanced efficacy aluminum-zirconium chlorohydrate antiperspirant salts having a metal (Al+Zr) to chloride ratio of about 0.9 to about 1.2, preferably about 0.9 to about 1.1, most preferably about 0.9 to about 1.0. To achieve the highest possible antiperspirant efficacy, these salts are made with or include a zirconium hydroxychloride of the formula Zr(OH)4−bClb wherein b is about 2.8 to about 4.0, preferably about 3.2 to about 4.0, so that the Zr:Cl ratio in said zirconium hydroxychloride is about 0.36 to about 0.25, preferably about 0.31 to about 0.25. The present invention also embraces methods of making such antiperspirant salts and aqueous solutions of such antiperspirant salts. The present invention further embraces topical compositions comprising a dermatologically acceptable carrier and a perspiration reducing effective amount of an aluminum-zirconium antiperspirant salt as described above.Type: GrantFiled: June 19, 2002Date of Patent: December 16, 2003Inventors: Yan-Fei Shen, Richard Oryszczak, Angel L. Carrillo

Patent number: 4448583Abstract: An aqueous, liquid fiber-reactive dye composition which is stable to decomposition is disclosed. The composition consists essentially of 5 to 45% by weight of a water-soluble, fiber-reactive dyestuff having from 1 to 3 .beta.-sulfatoethylsulfonyl (--SO.sub.2 CH.sub.2 CH.sub.2 OSO.sub.3 H) groups, or a mixture of such dyestuffs; 0 to 10% by weight of water-soluble inert inorganic salt; and 45 to 95% by weight of water. Said liquid dye composition must have a pH of about 2.5 to about 4.5 and must be substantially free of buffer substances. The liquid dye composition may be stored for long periods of time at 0.degree. to 50.degree. C. with substantially reduced decomposition to the vinylsulfonyl dye form.Type: GrantFiled: February 22, 1983Date of Patent: May 15, 1984Assignee: American Hoechst CorporationInventor: Anthony J.
