  • Patent number: 7406309
Abstract: A method for forwarding incoming cellular communications to an aircraft is provided. A request is received to divert incoming calls for a cellular telephone number to a communication system on board an aircraft. The request includes at least a temporary identification code representing a cellular telephone aboard the aircraft. A diversion instruction is associated with the cellular telephone number. The diversion instruction represents an instruction to forward an incoming call for the cellular telephone number to the communications system aboard the aircraft. A state of a cellular telephone associated with the cellular telephone number is considered as busy, regardless of an actual state of the cellular telephone. An incoming telephone call to the cellular telephone number is forwarded, consistent with said considering and in accordance with the diversion instruction, to the communications system on board the aircraft.

  • Patent number: 7349780
Abstract: A steering angular velocity computing device detects a change in a steering angle, measures a required time from a time when the steering angle changed until a time when the steering angle next changed, and computes, after the detector has detected a change in the steering angle, the steering angular velocity by dividing an amount of change in the steering angle by the required time corresponding to the amount of change and outputs it. When the steering angular velocity is being reduced, the steering angular velocity computing unit outputs the steering angular velocity during a first extended output period longer than the required period. Thus, the steering angular velocity is outputted with a high accuracy when the steering angular velocity is being reduced.

  • Patent number: 7349361
Abstract: An interface (52) is provided between a satellite telephone system (4) and a cellular telephone system (5) for allowing calls to a user's cellular telephone to be diverted to a satellite telephone handset (25) when the user is unable to use his cellular telephone, for example when on board an aircraft (2) fitted with a satellite telephone system (20). The user inserts a card (which may be the SIM of his mobile phone, or a card compatible with existing satellite telephone equipment) into a suitable reader in the satellite telephone (20), which causes the satellite ground station's card verification system (42) to connect to a host cellular network (50). The host cellular network has an interface unit (52) which emulates the operation of a normal base station, so that the host cellular system (50) acts as if the mobile user's terminal is roaming on the host network, but is currently “busy”.

  • Patent number: 7324582
Abstract: A system (100) and method for the reception and despreading of a code-division multiple access (CDMA) global positioning system (GPS) signal (200), or other direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DSSS) signals, is provided. An antenna array (102) receives the DSSS signal (200) over a plurality of elements (116). A preprocessor (104) down converts and digitizes the DSSS signal (200) to produce a signal stream (202) in the time domain. An FFT (106) transforms the signal stream (202) to the frequency domain. A beam former (108) generates a reception beam (201) for the DSSS signal (200) in the frequency domain, and also implements a narrowband frequency notch, if desired. A despreader (110) despreads the transformed signal stream (204) in the frequency domain. An IFFT (112) transforms the despread signal stream (208) back to the time domain. And a postprocessor (114) converts the transformed despread signal stream (210) into a desired received signal stream (212) in the time domain.

  • Patent number: 7324908
Abstract: An embodiment of the invention generally pertains to a method of compensating for temperature variations in an eddy current sensor signal. The method may include the steps of receiving an initial signal from an eddy current sensor (ECS) in response to a conductive element passing the ECS and sensing an ECS temperature and an ECS board temperature. The method may also include determining a subset of correction coefficients based on the ECS temperature and the ECS board temperature and determining a temperature correction factor from the subset of correction coefficients. The method may then compute a temperature corrected signal from the initial signal and the temperature correction factor.
