  • Patent number: 7894386
Abstract: A satellite telephone system for communication between a fixed network (4) and a moveable network (1) on board a vehicle, has means for suspending operation of the moveable network, for example when the moveable network could interfere with a fixed network, during safety-critical stages of a flight, or to enforce “quiet” periods on board. When operation of the moveable network (1) is suspended a control signal is transmitted to the fixed network (4), causing the fixed network (4) to intercept calls directed to the moveable network, thereby avoiding unnecessary signal traffic over the satellite link (3, 6, 13). The moveable network may be a wireless network (FIGS. 1, 2), or a wired network (FIG. 4).

  • Patent number: 7888074
Abstract: The aim of the invention is to provide a device for duplicating and characterizing nucleic acids almost simultaneously and with a high sample throughput rate. The device consists of a chamber body with a recess whose edge sealingly holds an optically transparent chip. Said chip holds nucleic acids in individual spots on a detection surface. The chamber body is placed on an optically transparent chamber support with a bearing surface, in such a way that a capillary gap, which can be filled with a liquid sample, is formed between the detection surface of the chip facing towards the chamber support and said chamber support. The chamber body is provided with an inlet and an outlet, which are spatially separate from each other, and has a space, which laterally encompasses the chip and which has a gas reservoir. The chamber support is provided with heating elements.

  • Patent number: 7874903
Abstract: A system and method for adding a bonus round to any poker-style card game on a Nevada-style gaming machine. The bonus round is characterized by the existence of a match card. The match card is not part of the traditional poker hand (the “in-hand” cards) of the player, and only comes into play during a bonus round. The suit and value of the match card may be generated by the game machine or a remote game controller or backend server. The match card is then displayed in a manner visually associating the match card with one of the player's “in-hand” cards. A bonus is determined by evaluating the associated pair. Alternatively a bonus may be determined first, in which case the game machine determines a match card and associated card from the player's in-hand cards that is the equivalent of the predetermined bonus.

  • Patent number: 7877063
Abstract: In a high-frequency amplifier for amplifying transmission and reception signals, an integrated circuit area is reduced to reduce production costs. A high-frequency amplifier (101) includes a reception signal amplifying part (102), a transmission signal amplifying part (103), and a spiral inductor (104). An output of the reception signal amplifying part (102) is connected with an output of the transmission signal amplifying part (103) to be an output terminal OUT of the high-frequency amplifier (101). The single spiral inductor (104) is connected to the output terminal OUT. This spiral inductor (104) is used as a load common to the reception signal amplifying part (102) and the transmission signal amplifying part (103). Thereby, the area of the integrated circuit is reduced, and the production cost is reduced.

  • Patent number: 7877667
Abstract: In order to correct an error in input data to thereby obtain write data, in a memory core, an EXOR element performs arithmetic processing based on an output result of an output data latch for latching read data and a result of inputted array input data, and a selector selects a result of the arithmetic processing to prepare write data. Thus, data obtained after performance of the arithmetic processing can be generated in a semiconductor memory by an operation performed immediately after data read. In addition, it is unnecessary to transfer data to an external logic circuit. Therefore, the result of the arithmetic processing can be written to a memory cell block in a subsequent clock.

  • Patent number: 7873086
Abstract: In a semiconductor device where a semiconductor element having an asymmetric temperature distribution during an operation is mounted, inner leads on the right and left ends have asymmetric lengths, so that the right and left regions of a semiconductor element mounting part have different sizes. The semiconductor element is mounted so as to have a high-temperature region side in a wide region of the mounting part, and the inner leads are wire bonded at the center to the wide region of the mounting part. It is thus possible to provide a small semiconductor device in which a long semiconductor element is mounted with heat dissipation.
