  • Patent number: 6355057
Abstract: Endoluminal prostheses, prosthetic systems, and methods for preparation and use of endoluminal prostheses for treatment of diseased body lumens make use of endoluminal prosthetic frame structures having circumferentially interspersed large and small expansible elements. These expansible elements, which are typically diamond-shaped, will generally decrease in length as the tubular frame expands radially. The prosthesis will often include a tubular liner supported by an axial series of ring frames having alternating large and small diamond elements, and can be loaded in a delivery catheter with the axial apices of the large diamond-shaped elements aligned with a small diamond-shaped element of an adjacent frame ring. To maintain adequate column strength, the adjacent ring frames may be attached to the liner so that the ring frames rotate relative to each other during expansion.

  • Patent number: 6345296
Abstract: A method, system, and computer program product specifies a communication intraconnect architecture that supports a pull model based data communication where data is sent to a receiver along with a memory address (a receiver buffer address or a reference to a pool manager or buffer pool) where the data is to be stored. CIA primitives are used to create nodes and dialog objects managed by send and receive IFEs. A logical dialog is established between corresponding send and receive dialog objects. A send dialog object includes a reference that identifies for the send IFE the corresponding receive dialog object in the receive IFE. The receive dialog object includes a reference that identifies for the receive IFE the corresponding send dialog object in the send IFE. Receive and send primitives are used to provide pull model data communication over a logical dialog. Receive with Buffer and Receive with Buffer Pool operations are provided.

  • Patent number: 6182089
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for dynamically allocating large memory pages of different sizes. Each process can select multiple page sizes. An algorithm referred to as a “Coalescing Daemon” is used to allocate large pages. “High water marks” are specified to the operating system. A high water mark is the maximum percentage of total system memory that the Coalescing Daemon coalesces for a given page size. The high water marks are used to allocate a number of free memory pages for each specified page size. Separate freelists are created and maintained for each page size. Each freelist comprises a linked list of data structures that represent free physical memory pages. A bitmap is set-up by the operating system to represent all memory available to processes. The bitmap is used for determining which memory pages are free during coalescing. The Coalescing Daemon allocates memory pages using a weak, mild and strong coalescing policy.

  • Patent number: 6163194
Abstract: A system and method for generating and optimizing clock signals with non-overlapping edges on a chip using a unique programmable on-chip clock generator. Overlapping of the edges of the clocking signals is avoided by adjusting an amount of delay introduced in the on-chip clock generator circuit. The amount of delay is adjusted by programming the on-chip clock generator using either hardware and/or software programming. In hardware programming, the amount of delay adjusted by physically altering the composition of delay elements in the on-chip clock generator. In software programming, the delay is adjusted using software commands to control the operation of delay elements in the on-chip clock generator, or to select the paths that delay the signals.

  • Patent number: 5818426
Abstract: The present invention provides a method and apparatus for communicating peripheral input information through a game adapter interface to a personal computer processor. A controller reads switch signals output from one or more switch arrays to detect switch activity. The controller conditions and outputs digital switch activity signals representative of the detected switch activity. A multiplexer multiplexes the digital switch activity signals output from the controller to obtain a corresponding analog switch activity signal. The type of switch activity detected by the controller can include the first switch to be activated among contending slammers and/or the current activation state of an array of selector switches. The controller includes a signal conditioner which asserts digital switch activity signals for a predetermined duration to enable a steady-state analog switch signal to be polled by a personal computer processor.

  • Patent number: 5692174
Abstract: A system and method for a computer system having a plurality of DBMS providing a coordinating and assisting function. If a DBMS performs a coordinating function, it is referred to as a coordinating DBMS. If a DBMS performs an assisting function, it is referred to as an assisting DBMS. Each coordinating DBMS receives a query from a user application, decomposes the query into multiple parallel tasks, and allocates the parallel tasks to all of the DBMSs in the system. Each assisting DBMS receives one or more parallel tasks from a coordinating DBMS, executes the parallel tasks and returns the results to the coordinating DBMS. The coordinating DBMSs and assisting DBMSs access one or more storage devices. Furthermore, the present invention comprises a system and method for dynamically disabling a parallel mode on the coordinating DBMSs and the assisting DBMSs.

  • Patent number: 5689633
Abstract: A computer program product and program storage device for incorporating an external predefined procedure into an existing unit of work. The existing unit of work is part of a client application process, wherein the client application process is not able to execute external programs. A logical representation of the client application process is created in a database environment. The logical representation is disconnected from the client application process, and is connected to a procedure operating environment capable of executing external programs. The external predefined procedure is caused to executed in the procedure operating environment. Then, the logical representation is reconnected to the client application process.

  • Patent number: 5430654
Abstract: An apparatus and method are disclosed for determining the position of a vehicle at or near the surface of the Earth using navigation signals from a satellite-based navigation system. Precise position estimates are achieved by reducing effective receiver noise. A plurality of receiver means each compute a pseudorange for each satellite. A signal optimizer then uses the pseudoranges from each receiver means to compute an optimal pseudorange for each satellite. A processor means computes a vehicle position from the optimal pseudoranges.

  • Patent number: 5390124
Abstract: The accuracy of a vehicle position estimate generated using a satellite-based navigation system is improved by accounting for non-linear errors in the vehicle position computations. The standard navigation equation is modified to include the error coefficients .alpha., .beta., .gamma. and .delta.. .alpha. is used to model errors in the x dimension. .beta. is used to model errors in the y dimension. .gamma. is used to model errors in the z dimension. .delta. is used to model errors in the pseudoranges. The error coefficients may be computed using an open-ended GPS system or a differential GPS system. The error coefficients may be computed in real time or may be computed once and used for a period thereafter. Once computed, the error coefficients are factored into the computation of a vehicle position estimate for increased precision.
