Abstract: Gene expression systems comprising an expression vector and a "trans-acting DNA segment", where the expression vector comprises the gene or genes to be expressed and one or more cis-acting regulatory elements which are responsive to a trans-acting factor produced by said "trans-acting DNA segment". More specifically the invention relates to such gene expression systems where said "trans-acting DNA segment" and said cis-acting regulatory elements comprise one or more segments of the genome from a Bacillus species. Methods for stimulating the production of gene products, vectors for transforming microorganisms, and their use are also disclosed.
Abstract: In the process according to this invention, an amplification procedure is performed on a first sample in which one or more of the four normal ribonucleoside triphosphates (rNTPs) or deoxyribonucleoside triphosphates (dNTPs) is replaced with an exo-sample nucleotide. After amplification, any contaminating amplified product that may be remaining is subjected to a physical, chemical, enzymatic, or biological treatment which renders nucleic acid containing the exo-sample nucleotide substantially unamplifiable. The treatment may be done as a separate step or it may be done in the presence of a second sample containing nucleic acid sequences to be amplified. The amplified nucleic acid sequences derived from the first sample which contaminate the second sample are not further substantially amplified during amplification of nucleic acid sequences of the second sample.
Abstract: In order that a hydraulic pump and a hydraulic motor of a hydrostatic transmission hitherto disposed to the exterior are attached to a hydrostatic transmission support member provided in a mission case, a charging pump hitherto attached to the hydraulic pump at the hydrostatic transmission is also attached to the hydrostatic transmission support member, and an oil filter hitherto attached to the outside of mission case is disposed therein, they are interposed between the lower surface of hydrostatic transmission support member and the charging pump. Furthermore, an outward takeout pump also is supported in the mission case.
Abstract: An automatic braze welding apparatus comprises a divisional rotatable index drive for indexing a rotatable plate in increments of 45.degree.. A plurality of clamping devices are used for safely seating a workpiece radiator at the divisional radial positions of the rotable plate. At least one flux supplying head is mounted on a first position of the divided rotatable plate, and at least one first welding manifold provided with a plurality of torches with at least one position changeable means is mounted on the divisional second and fifth positions, respectively. At least one second welding manifold performs second welding work at the upper surface of the divisional third and sixth positions, and at least one product position correcting device corrects any unbalanced state of the product at the fourth and seventh positions, thereby clamping the radiators by means of the product clamping means and removing it therefrom.
Abstract: An evaporator of an ice machine operating on a typical ice-making cycle, comprising a heat-conducting metal plate member, an evaporator body formed by folding the metal plate member into a " "-shape after a refrigerant circuit including a capillary tube, refrigerant tube and evaporating tube etc., is oppositely mounted inside of the plate member, and means for fixing the evaporator body in a vertical position inside of the cabinet of an ice machine. The present invention improves productivity by resolving disadvantages such as the increase of the installation space and complex assembly. Moreover, easier and more accurate ice-separating may be attained according to the present invention.
Abstract: A component assembling machine driving device and a method thereof are disclosed, in which a cam is used as the principal device for realizing speedy operations, in which a position controller and a sequence controller are capable of monitoring the state of the cam by means of a simple combination of sensors, and in which different operations are carried out simultaneously, thereby achieving speedy operations, but preventing interferences between different operations.
Abstract: A lamp cover assembly for electric appliances which enables a lamp cover to be disassembled without being completely separated from the bottom face of the appliance. The assembly includes a lamp cover support means on which the lamp cover is pivotally mounted so that the lamp cover pivots without being completely separated from the bottom face when it is disassembled for replacing the lamp.
Abstract: The reliability of a thin semiconductor card, such as an IC card, is enhanced by stress absorbing part such as deformable part for absorbing externally applied stress, thereby preventing the stress from damaging the card main body, the semiconductor module, or the semiconductor elements. Alternatively, protection is provided by a weaker section, located away from the semiconductor module, that breaks under external stress before the stress can destroy the semiconductor module.
Abstract: A sensor unit for traffic control of an automatic guided vehicle. Traffic sensor means generates a signal of a specified frequency. Control means controls the direction of the automatic guided vehicle as a function of signal generated by the traffic sensor means. Control sensor means coupled with the traffic sensor means and the direction controlling means sends a stop signal to one or more of the vehicles to resolve conflicts at intersections and avoid collisions and deadlocking.
Abstract: A polynucleotide molecule expressible in a given host comprising the sequence of the araB promoter operably linked to a gene which is heterologous to said host. The heterologous gene codes for a peptide that is biologically active. The invention also relates to a genetic construct which comprises a first genetic sequence coding for cecropin operably linked to a second genetic sequence coding for a polypeptide which is capable of suppressing the bactericidal effect of the resulting fusion protein towards an otherwise cecropin sensitive bacterium.

Abstract: The invention relates to novel S-nitroso derivatives of ACE inhibitors and to pharmaceutical compositions comprising the S-nitrosothiol derivatives of the invention together with a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier.The invention also relates to methods for treating various pathophysiological conditions including acute myocardial infarction, left ventricular dysfunction without overt heart failure, hypertension, pulmonary hypertension, congestive heart failure, angina pectoris, vascular thrombosis, Raynauds syndrome, scleroderma, toxemia of pregnancy, acute renal failure, diabetic nephropathy, and renal artery stenosis, and to methods of inhibiting ACE and effecting vasodilation comprising administering the S-nitrosothiol derivatives of the ACE inhibitors of the invention to an animal.

Abstract: A box-flap folding device which includes a support for folded side flaps of the box during the folding operation of front and rear flaps. The support is so constructed as to prevent the folded side flaps from getting unfolded and not to interfere with the folding operation of the front and rear flaps, resulting in that all the flaps of the box can be folded smoothly without being bent or broken.
Abstract: The present invention pertains to biodegradable sustained-release composins capable of achieving the sustained release of a pharmaceutical or other agent. The compositions can be formed into implant devices which may be used to treat a wide variety of diseases and conditions. The implants are especially useful in treating diseases such as periodontal disease which require prolonged drug release.

Abstract: An in-line spectral method adapted for use with a single-beam reference spectrometer scanning a sample, the method comprising the steps of (a) scanning with a single-beam spectrometer (b) rotating a wheel in synchronization and in an optical path with the single-beam spectrometer of step (a), the wheel having open alternating with segments comprising reference material, (c) producing with step (b) alternate spectral scans as of the spectrometer and the sample, and of the spectrometer, the sample and said reference material, (d) comparing said spectral scans of step (c) in order to extract the spectrum of said reference material; and (e) using said extracted spectrum for real-time, dynamic spectral compensation, to result in absolute correct sample spectrum.
