Patent number: 6501735Abstract: A method and apparatus are disclosed for detecting a fault in a transceiver of a base transceiver system. In the transceiver having a down converter, a microprocessor reads a predetermined first minimum value and a predetermined first maximum value of received input signal levels, measures an instantaneous control voltage generated from an automatic gain controller (AGC) and converts the measured instantaneous AGC control voltage into a received input signal level. When the converted received input signal level is below the predetermined first minimum value, the microprocessor determines that a fault exists in the amplifier operation of the down converter. Similarly, when the received input signal level exceeds the predetermined first maximum value, the microprocessor determines that a fault exists in the amplifier operation of the down converter.Type: GrantFiled: June 14, 1999Date of Patent: December 31, 2002Assignee: Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.Inventor: Deog-su Han
