    Abstract: A system and method are disclosed that enable exclusive rights in generic goods to be transferred from one party to another. A party holds an exclusive right to a good through a rescindable capability. When two parties agree on a transfer of the exclusive right to the good, a goods description memorializing the agreement is created which is in synergy with the rescindable capability. The goods description includes an acquire method that is the only method that can extract rights from the rescindable capability with which it is in synergy. The object from which the generic right is being transferred sends a message to the recipient with a reference to the rescindable capability. Upon receiving the message, the recipient invokes the acquire method of the referenced goods description, which returns a new rescindable capability that encompasses the generic right just transferred. Once the recipient holds a reference to the new rescindable capability, the sender has had its rights rescinded.

    Abstract: A signal communication device for use within a computer includes a set of optical fibers configured to form an optical computer bus between a set of computer sub-system elements of a computer. A set of input optical connector cards are connected to the set of optical fibers. Each of the input optical connector cards includes a transmitting dynamic bandwidth allocator responsive to an optical bus clock signal operating at a multiple of a computer system clock signal such that a set of bus time slots are available for each computer system clock signal cycle. The transmitting dynamic bandwidth allocator allows a light signal to be applied to the optical computer bus during a dynamically assigned bus time slot. In this way, the optical computer bus bandwidth can be dynamically allocated to different computer sub-system elements during a single computer system clock signal cycle.

    Abstract: A mill is described for compacting agricultural fibrous matter, such as straw or other agricultural waste, into a structural board. The board is useful as a dominant part of a load bearing and insulating panel replacing many of the load bearing and insulating structures typically used to make small buildings, such as houses. The mill includes many features not found in previous mills of this type, including not only a packer to place material in front of an oscillating ram head as is known, but a precompactor arrangement to regulate the volume of material fed to the packer. Another feature incorporated into the mill to aid in achieving a consistent density is a pressure offset mechanism which adjusts the rate of core formation. The mill has a modular design to facilitate replacement of those components subjected to significant wear.

The programmable delay module generates the skewed clock signal by adding programmable time delays to the system clock signal. The inserted delay increases the data valid window time available for the "read" operation and allows sufficient setup and hold time for valid data to be read by a memory controller.

The B tree includes, for each data bucket, a pointer for both a CD-ROM and a disk drive location, and are, in certain embodiments, used in conjunction with a bit mask to indicate the presence of valid data in a first one of the memories, such as CD-ROM, and, if desired, a bloom filter associated with data stored in the second memory type, such as a magnetic disk, in order to speed accesses.

These glasses have improved optical properties, extended glass formation range and have superior resistance to devitrification. In some embodiments TiO.sub.2 can fully replace the Al.sub.2 O.sub.3. In additional embodiments, SiO.sub.2 can be completely removed from the glass.
