Abstract: A fluid storage and dispensing apparatus, including a fluid storage and dispensing vessel having an interior volume, in which the interior volume contains a physical adsorbent sorptively retaining a fluid thereon and from which the fluid is desorbable for dispensing from the vessel, and a dispensing assembly coupled to the vessel for dispensing desorbed fluid from the vessel. The physical adsorbent includes a monolithic carbon physical adsorbent that is characterized by at least one of the following characteristics: (a) a fill density measured for arsine gas at 25° C. and pressure of 650 torr that is greater than 400 grams arsine per liter of adsorbent; (b) at least 30% of overall porosity of the adsorbent including slit-shaped pores having a size in a range of from about 0.3 to about 0.72 nanometer, and at least 20% of the overall porosity including micropores of diameter <2 nanometers; and (c) having been formed by pyrolysis and optional activation, at temperature(s) below 1000° C.
Abstract: Process for producing formed cellulosic articles, such as fibers, filaments, sheetings, membranes or tubes, comprising a) extruding a solution of cellulose in an aqueous amine oxide, particularly N-methylmorpholine N-oxide, through an extrusion die via an air gap and coagulating the formed article in an aqueous precipitation bath containing amine oxide, and b) passing the formed article through at least one washing stage for removing residual amine oxide from the article, characterized in that the liquor of the precipitation bath in the precipitation stage and/or the washing liquor of the washing stage(s) is treated with ultra-violet radiation. In this manner the formation and growth of coatings, films and slime deposits caused by microorganisms is avoided on parts of the plant which come into contact with said liquors containing the amine oxide.
Abstract: The invention relates to a protein for regulating apoptosis and to a nucleic acid encoding the protein. The protein and nucleic acids are useful in the regulation of apoptosis, and in methods for diagnosing or detecting apoptosis. The invention also relates to antibodies directed against the protein.

Abstract: In a continuous-combustion piston engine in which working mediums flowing out of a combustion chamber is successively fed to at least two cylinders, each of the cylinders is stationary in relationship to the combustion chamber and has an inlet. Controls are provided that successively connect the inlet to the combustion chamber and separate it from the combustion chamber. Mechanical losses are minimized in this manner.
Abstract: A green-blue to ultraviolet light-emitting optical device, e.g. a green-blue to ultraviolet emitting laser or a green-blue to ultraviolet emitting diode, comprising a green-blue to ultraviolet light emitting gallium nitride material on a base structure including a silicon carbide substrate, which preferably consists of 2H-SiC, 4H-SiC, or a-axis oriented 6H-SiC. The carrier mobility and the transparency of the silicon carbide substrate are optimized by the selection of orientation and polytype, thus enhancing device performance. The light-emitting diodes may incorporate a structural modification to increase the light output comprising a dielectric Bragg mirror beneath the LED structure, made of alternating layers of AlN, GaN, InN or their alloys. Methods for making such light-emitting diodes are provided, including a technique for defining individual devices by mesa etching which avoids possible damage to the active area during dicing.
Abstract: A polysiloxane comprising a linear polydiorganosiloxane chain joined at one terminus to an acrylic-functional end group, and joined at its other end to a cross-linked MTQ moiety comprising a multiplicity of monofunctional siloxane units (M), trifunctional siloxane units (T), and tetrafunctional siloxane units (Q), wherein the concentration ratio of M units to the sum of T units and Q units, M/(T+Q), in the MTQ moiety is from about 0.55 to about 0.75, and wherein the number of siloxy repeating units in the linear polydiorganosiloxane chain is from 25 to 1,000. The M and or /T units may also contain (meth)acrylate groups. The MTQ/silicone hybrid resins of the invention are curable by UV radiation, to provide high tensile strength silicone compositions having utility in potting and conformal coating apllications.
Abstract: An adjustable sprayer assembly includes a frame supported by a pivoting wheel assembly and a pair of side wheel assemblies arranged in a tricycle fashion. An adjustable spray boom assembly and an operator boom assembly are connected to the frame. A container of a substance to be sprayed is mounted on the frame and selectively sprayed through nozzles on the spray boom as the sprayer assembly is pushed or pulled by an operator. An electrical meter connected to a generator mounted on one of the wheel assemblies can be provided so that an operator can monitor and maintain the speed of the sprayer assembly.
Abstract: A process for purifying a gaseous mixture comprising arsine, phosphine, ammonia, and/or inert gases, to remove Lewis acid and/or oxidant impurities therefrom, comprising contacting the mixture with a scavenger including a support having associated therewith an anion which is effective to remove such impurities, such anion being selected from one or more members of the group consisting of: (i) carbanions whose corresponding protonated compounds have a pK.sub.a value of from about 22 to about 36; and (ii) anions formed by reaction of such carbanions with the primary component of the mixture.
Abstract: Polymers of a polyfunctional epoxy compound, N,N,N',N'-tetraglycidyl-1,3-propylene bis(p-aminobenzoate), formed by reaction of such epoxy compound with aromatic polyamines. The disclosed polymers are useful as structural resins, e.g., as advanced composite matrix resins.
Abstract: A low temperature cure, two component coating composition having an improved balance between pot life and speed of cure is provided. The coating composition includes a crosslinkable, solvent borne, solution polymer containing certain activated ester groups, and a hemiaminal. Also provided is a crosslinked coating obtained by curing the composition. Additionally, there is provided a process for increasing the pot life of a low temperature cure coating composition. The process includes the step of forming a hemiaminal from a crosslinking agent preferably prior to mixing the crosslinking agent with the polymer.
