Abstract: A method and system for displaying multiple media content instances during a single viewing session. The method includes displaying a recorded program list graphical user interface (GUI) listing a number of recorded media content instances, selecting one of the recorded media content instances to be displayed on a display device, and displaying the selected media content instance and one or more additional recorded media content instances during the single viewing session.

Abstract: Track shoe assembly for a tracked vehicle, comprising a) a track shoe member with a chassis assembly having a pair of tubular housings (80) connected by a spaced web-portion, b) a replaceable rubber pad (9) with a curved sheet metal (13) having rims to hold the rubber pad rigidly and precisely in position, and c) an end connector (26) having a pair of bush holes (267) which accept an end of a track shoe pin (60) extending through a tubular housing, thus connecting adjacent track shoe members at either side in a pivotally flexible track. The chassis (9) also has a guide member (91) which is located on one a sleeve holding a housing and has a shape tapering towards its top end.

Abstract: A system for multi-channel analog-to-digital conversion has a plurality of sampling modules, wherein each of the modules includes an input node and an output node; multiplexing circuitry configured to selectively route at least one of a plurality of electrical signals present on the output nodes to an analog-to-digital converter; and control circuitry in communication with the multiplexing circuitry, wherein the control circuitry is programmatically configured to control a sequence in which the electrical signals are routed to the analog-to-digital converter.

A method of implementing a user interface for a device includes displaying data about a function of the device on a thin display device, the data being displayed in association with a control device that controls that function of the device.

Featured in the present invention is a vehicle storage box that comprises a base structure; a lid, pivotally connected to the base structure, shaped to enclose the base structure; divider means, pivotally connected to the base structure, for dividing the storage box into two compartments for holding articles; divider coupling means, connected to the divider means and the lid, for releasably coupling the divider means to the lid; and lid coupling means, connected to the lid and the base structure, for releasably coupling the lid to the base structure, and having a first coupling position occurring when the lid is in an opened position.

Abstract: A frequency range bounder for limiting the frequency of a voltage controlled oscillator uses a multiplexer that responds to comparator inputs indicating whether an input control signal will allow the oscillator frequency to go beyond a predetermined range. If the control signal keeps the frequency within the range, the control signal is sent directly to an oscillator driver. If the control signal is above or below the range, the multiplexer outputs an alternative value as the control signal. As a result, the oscillator frequency is prevented from extending beyond an allowable tolerance range.

Abstract: An imaging method and system for 3D modeling of a 3D surface forms a mosaic from multiple uncalibrated 3D images, without relying on camera position data to merge the 3D images. The system forms the 3D model by merging two 3D images to form a mosaiced image, merging the mosaiced image with another 3D image, and repeating the merging process with new 3D images one by one until the 3D model is complete. The images are aligned in a common coordinate system via spatial transformation and preferably merged using a fuzzy weighting average function to smooth boundary areas between 3D images. The 3D model may be compressed using image compression techniques. In one embodiment, a 2D texture/color overlay is placed over the 3D model to provide a more realistic representation of the object being modeled.

Abstract: A novel pillar is provided. The pillar having a longitudinal axis and first and second ends, an outer skin, an extruded support structure disposed within the outer skin, with the support structure including multiple cells arranged along the longitudinal axis for support of longitudinal loads, and a tension bar disposed at least partially within the extruded support structure. The outer skin and extruded support may include structural plastic, and the extruded support structure may be separately insertable into the outer skin. However, in an alternative embodiment the outer skin and extruded support structure are co-extruded as a single monolithic piece.

Abstract: A wireless system, including a system controller, and a portable device with wireless connection to the wireless system, can be used to link customers to the operations of a business. This link can be used to increase customer efficiency in the use of the business, including scheduling appointments to avoid lines, viewing customer locations on an interactive map, and tracking the locations of other customers traveling in a group. This link also allows the customer to initiate searches for information or products and to make electronic purchases. The business can use the link to send information or advertisements directly to select customers.

Abstract: A method and system manages and controls the download of programming, i.e., code objects, to a set-top terminal connected to a cable television system so as to prevent disruptions to service that may arise if only some of the objects specified are successfully downloaded and might, therefore, function improperly or conflict with existing applications. When the message to download new or additional code objects lists two or more objects to be acquired, the set-top terminal will only enable and execute downloaded objects if all the listed objects are successfully acquired. If only some of the objects the terminal has been instructed to download are acquired, those downloaded objects may either be purged or stored in memory without being enabled and executed. The system operator may specify in the message instructing the terminal to acquire new objects, whether the listed objects must be implemented as a group or not at all.

Abstract: A regional aircraft boarding pier can be provided at an airport concourse in place of one or two conventional large aircraft boarding bridges. The regional aircraft boarding pier includes a primary passenger bridge between the airport concourse and a hub. A number of secondary passenger bridges extend from the hub to individual regional aircraft. In this way, an equivalent number of passenger seats can be serviced as between large and regional aircraft, and large and regional aircraft can be docked at a common airport terminal. Consequently, passengers can more efficiently and conveniently transfer between connecting flights that are on both large and regional aircraft. The hub of the boarding pier can take a number of configurations to optimally use the space available. The hub can also support large aircraft boarding bridges as well as the secondary passenger bridges docked to smaller, regional aircraft.

Abstract: A method for estimating the input power to a cable modem includes generating a look-up table containing AGC integrator accumulator values corresponding to selected frequencies and amplitudes. The look-up table is generated by first constructing a calibration matrix by inputting a plurality of calibration signals having known input frequencies and known input power levels into the cable modem's receiver, and recording AGC integrator accumulator values corresponding to several frequencies and power levels over a selected operating range as calibration points. Next, an interpolation and extrapolation process generates the look-up values corresponding to the frequencies and amplitudes in between the calibration points. During modem operation, the modem estimates the input power by checking the AGC integrator accumulator value corresponding to the input frequency and amplitude.

Abstract: A personal computer connected to the Internet can receive and store audio and audiovisual data or programming from the Internet. This audio and audiovisual programming can be provided by the computer over a digital connection to speakers and/or a monitor located away from the computer at a location convenient for a user. A remote control unit allows the user to send signals back over the digital connection to the computer to control the computer to provide the audio or audiovisual programming that the user desires over the digital connection to the speakers and/or monitor located where the user is. The computer may send a listing of the available programming to the remote control unit from which the user can make selections.

Abstract: A battery terminal connector that requires no tools to engage or remove uses a quick-release system in order to increase efficiency. The use of a lever (which makes up an important part of the quick-release system) with a varying radius is used to engage or release the battery terminal connector. The connector is made of an electrically conductive material and connects the battery terminal to the battery cable.

Abstract: Standard definition video can be upconverted to high-definition video without degrading the appearance of edges, lines and other visual transitions in the image with a diagonal geometry. Each horizontal scan line of the video is monitored to identify the location of such visual transitions. The transitions are then matched in successive scan lines. Successive scan lines are then morphed, e.g., shifted forward or backward to move the transition in each line toward an average position for the transition as located in the two successive scan lines. The successive morphed lines are then added to produce a single interpolated line that is interlaced between its parent lines in a resulting high-definition video signal.

Abstract: The port for a removable module of a set-top box in a cable television system incorporates guide members of a thermally conductive material to provide a new primary heat dissipation path to manage thermal energy generated by operation of the module. The guide members may also be used to guide the module into proper connection with a module connector which electrically connects the circuit on the module with the circuitry of the set-top box. The guide members may be attached to the chassis of the set-top box or integrally formed in the chassis. Thus, heat from the module is provide directly to the chassis of the set-top box from which it is released by convention into the ambient environment.
